I searched for leaderboard but only found a thread on the battle box from last year. Sorry in advance if this is a dead horse but we don't really need twenty percent of the screen filled with positions given the bottom of the screen is available for scrolling.
Why do we have this again in 2023?
I loved when the scrolling leaderboard was at the bottom, but that’s just me.
I’ve gotten used to it at this point but I think the bottom would be better. What I can’t stand is the new arrows this year telling us who roczen and tomac are when battling… UGH
Personally, I hate the scrolling leaderboards.
I'm not too picky on the broadcast and never really complain but I have to agree with you on the arrows.
Im not sure how the arrow works but it seems like it looks for the color of the bike, for example, a red Honda, but then when it passes a red tuff block it gets confused and thinks the haybale is the rider.
Its not that it really bothers me though, it's just kind of funny that it seems like they're experimenting during the broadcast rather than using raceday live to get things dialed in.

I'll take "How to watch a 13" TV on your 72" widescreen for 100 Alex"
What if....lol ....what if, since were looking at little tiny screens on our big screens anyway they set up each bike with onboard cameras and we could watch the battles live from the riders pov ? Anytime 2 to like maybe 6 ? riders are in a tight battle split each riders video feeds into little screens, First place in the upper left, 2nd place top middle, 3rd place top right and on down the screen to 6th. That I'd pay for lol.
What we really need is to have Bondo fired....
Has that happened much after the first two rounds? I haven’t noticed it recently but might just be ignoring it.
I liked it when it ran across the top during outdoors.
You know what, now that you mention it I didn’t notice it at Tampa. I’ll watch the replay but maybe I zoned it out also haha. If they got rid of it then Kudos and I stand corrected
I don't normally complain about the broadcast, I don't mind it 95% of the time, but the other 5% I want to rip my hair out.
I don't know bondo, and wish him no ill will, but man somethings gotta change. It could be as simple as being in the same position too long and getting stagnant, who knows.
Scrolling is not great for multiple stats. I like being able to look at the gaps between riders and scrolling would completely ruin that. They sometimes show the rider's face, sponsors and stats which is nice to see from time to time and puts a face tot he name. Plus screens are so big today, this scoreboard really isn't messing up the view. 17% of the horizontal space is taken up, what are we really missing?
They only used it a couple of times in Tampa, and when they did, it was always only one guy in the shot so the arrow was completely unnecessary.
Yeah the alternative is so unnecessary in 2023. High res broadcasts mean they can fit all that information on the screen and it’s readable. I don’t see how this is even a question?
The old scrolling style was great for low res TVs where they had to make the text large enough so that you could actually read it.
The scrolling requires you to pay much closer attention to the bar, taking your eyes away from the action. Oh, you missed seeing the rider in 7th? Guess you’ll just have to wait for it to scroll through 22 other riders and hope you don’t miss it again
I like how MXGP-TV does it
Top 10 in points should have a helmet cam and you can watch bounce around the helmet cams and also watch Birds Eye like we do now.
Wish the camera would zoom/pan slowly to/across the starting gate, instead of smash-cutting to/from hella zoomed in and zoomed out. Can rarely tell which gate any particular riders are on. Seems like a glaring oversight.
2015, the Pylon made quite an impression. It sucked then and it sucks now!

16:9 does great with the leader board on the left side. It's a wide aspect ratio. I don't like the stupid rider bios they replace the positions with.. that's dumb but I know it's being done for new viewers
Pit Row
See, I'm the opposite. I love the way it's done in America.
It scrolls along the bottom in MXGP (five names at a time) and I always miss what I'm looking out for.
I tell myself to wait for the name/position to come around again, but get distracted and miss it again...
It'd be cool if they had a companion app or whatever you would call it where you can open up the app during the race and see real time statistics like gap between Riders, lap times, Etc.
I do think they have that on their website but I never really use it. With an app, they could probably add a bunch of features and maybe even a feature where you can enter your RM fantasy picks and when they move in to your chosen position, their name gets highlighted in green. And then if a rider is one position away from your chosen position their name gets highlighted in yellow. And any other position their name is highlighted in red.
I don't know if any other sports have something like that but I think that would be pretty cool to have and I would use it.
That would work too. Just not where it is at and aeffertz, who cares if it is only 17 percent of the screen. That's 17 percent being wasted IMO.
I have my iPad open with Live Timing running so don't need to see the standings.
That is a very good solution to my problem. Common sense is not my forte... Haha!
I think a few small changes would go a long ways. The timing board could be narrower. We do not need timing to .001 of a second.
When they switch to two screens they need to leave the main screen as full screen and just make the second screen in the bottom with a boarder. Instead you get two small screens.
Yeah, displaying the time to thousands of a second has always drove me nuts. One one thousandth of a second in the middle of the race is meaningless. All we need are tenths. Also, they can probably remove the minus sign to buy a little more space.
Now that you mention it, it is a function of time, they do not need the negative sign at all.. People behind the leader are + XX seconds behind.
I would like to see top 5 on the lower left part locked/permanent, with alternating showing last laptime and rider gap like every 5-8sec. Then let the rest of the riders, 6-22 loop with for example just rider gap in the remaining part of bottom right side screen.
