Does anyone have photos of the lights on his bike? I'm picturing a thicker LED tape version of the enduro fork tube blinkers:
Please no lights on the bikes. The show is becoming cheezey enough already.
Yup....just like the bubble rider name arrows that are fubar'd 90% of the time pointing to the riders
How about just working on the production. JT doing an Oakley ad during the racing. Watching someone who crashed, picking up their bike for 30 seconds while real racing is going on, replays from last weeks race in the middle of this weeks race.... etc etc etc.....

If you are at a SX/MX and you need headlights on a dirt bike to let you know who is leading then you should pay better attention to the race
I don’t agree with any hate riders get on staying in the 250s to make a living for themselves. That being said it would probably have to do with J-Mart has won 250 championships and Phil well he was never really close to that.
Unless your name is Christian Craig, it doesn't matter.
As someone who as been to lots of SX races and don't always follow the leaders, it would be nice to quickly find the leader.
When I am focusing and closely watching someone running back in the pack it takes me a little too long to find the leader once they start lapping.. So I am all for this light thing.
I’m just happy that you guys saw them too.. I thought I was losing my mind for a minute..
I immediately noticed they were off when he got passed for the lead ...figured that was the reason they were on
Pretty sure the 29 bike in the futures qualifying had something similar
I was ready to shit on them, and thought it was very un-Phil visually, however now I see it explained here it does kind of make sense, from a casual fan / just some dudes watching the racing point of view.
Will make things much clearer for those kind of folks once they get into lappers etc.
should light them up for the fastest last lap and have it rotate from rider to rider that way based on rank in pace. maybe more than one color. that way when tomac or webb are charging thru the pack you know theyre coming.
give last place the red lantern like in cycling (caboose light).
Hmmm...I'm thinking the leader should light up like a pinball machine. In the qualies and LCQ, the guy on the bubble should flash red. This could be HUGE fellas.
Pit Row
Honeeeeey can you tell me who's winning again??!!!!
They already have the leader lights on the track pylons 🤔🤔
it would make more sense to me if they did top 3-5 (each a different color) so you can see not only the leader but how close the next few riders are.
Bingo.
Phil is riding really good in my opinion
Was awesome seeing Phil lead for so long, we all were rooting for him.
Strong disagree… youre looking at it all wrong. Think about being in the stands with your buddies half drunk and your buddy (or you) comes back to the crew with a rack of fresh 20 dollar stadium tall boys You don’t want to waste time figuring out where the leader is while thanking him and passing beers around.
This is not a new concept
Those giant yellow markers with flashing lights that read LEADER have been around for as long as I can remember.
They'll have blue smoke coming out the exhaust next.
This^^^
I initially thought it was a dumb idea, but when watching in person how often do you scan the field and get caught up in watching some battles and you have to keep looking away to find and keep track of the leader at the same time.
Same when a comfort stop or bar visit takes too long and you miss a gate drop; where’s the leader?
Let’s face it, probably half of us in here are getting to that age when the eyesight ain’t quite as sharp as it used to be.
Kinda cool they were testing them on Phil's bike and then he actually holds the lead for a good portion of time. I do wish they had clue'd in the announce team so they could have shared what was going on.
My questions are …. Is it distracting to the rider?
Is it a bullseye for the other riders?
Thousands of dollars in titanium parts. Let’s just strap lights to the front end. Just kidding. I think it’s an interesting concept.
