Have you heard of Fabio Quartararo?

1/27/2023 11:46am

Yea I have years ago but I watch motogp loads of them started out on mx and they still use mx as cross training and have for years. Matthes doesn't know, that's his dumbass fault.

I was very surprised at how many people had not heard of him on the Pulp show. I'm a motorsports fan though so I dabble in many genres, you forget how many people just watch what they watch. Example, NASCAR guys just watch NASCAR, same with F1 etc. I follow MotoGP lightly, not like moto but I still know who is who. Watch MotoGP Unlimited on Prime if it hasn't been mentioned already, MotoGP's version of F1's Drive to Survive with less english speaking cast.

Quartanarto all Day. No modern day fan going to supercross knows who Lechien is. Mathes is stuck in Pulp world where nobody leaves.

Is there a point to misspelling his name, or is it just a mistake?

Yup.  I expect it was tied in to Peacock's covering 2023 MotoGP, and you are cheating yourself if you are not engaging with MotoGP because the bike to bike racing is fantastic.

But seriously, Matthes dissing the Blu-Cru, yeesh

Lechien is at a lot more races that Quartaro will be.

Alot of this confusion is due to the fact that ever since Marquez Roczen'd himself in 2020 there's been 3 new champions making a name for themselves. It's a bit like if you had Grant Langston on TV in 2007 and asked people if they knew him, people would say well I know Stewart, Carmichael, Reed and McGrath but not this guy.Screenshot 20230127 121436

Yea after the dominant Marquez took himself out the rest believed a race win was up for grabs, 9 different winners (2022) certainly made the racing & championship more interesting for the different sets of fans.
without an American in the Moto GP class it’s maybe not news getting through, but the Moto 2 class has Cam Beaubier (think he’s heading home for 2023 season) Joe Roberts still racing with some decent results

anyway if Mx / Sx fans don’t know who Fabio is or never even heard of him, yet there’s talk about growing the mx sport, when most are not even interested in the pinnacle of motorcycle sport, how of why would others with their own favourite sport watch Sx /Mx

don’t get me wrong Mx is still the best for me

Never heard of him, but I don’t follow all motorsports.  And I don’t have to follow other motorsports, because I can get dirt bikes A LA CARTE.

I can’t relate to MOTO GP.  I’ve never ridden a street bike in my life.
Can’t race cars.  Wayyyyyy to expensive.
Boats.  Too expensive.

I watch things that I can relate to, things that I’ve done…..football, baseball, moto, golf, MTB racing.

I used to watch more things, but I don’t have time to be a fan of everything.  And I don’t get upset when other people don’t know the stars of my sports.

Too bad this seems to offend some people.

I got into Moto-GP about 5 years ago. I love SX/MX, have my whole life.

Moto-GP is far superior racing, from an entertainment value and level of intensity. Once you watch a couple races, you realize how legit that sport is compared to our American motocross racing. I mean come on these guys ride moto as a training tool.

If you love racing, the head to head racing is excellent almost always, and the presentation tops.

I love motocross more for because it elevates both the track challenges to the individual rider and the individual riders competition with one another, but the actual racing more often than not is far more intense throughout the race in MotoGP and Moto3 (less so Moto2 to me) than a typical pro motocross.  Again, I'd rather watch a pro moto, but I'll watch a pig race at the fair to see who wins.  Speedway is another discipline that produces excellent racing.  What is more a drag to me is a freight train chess match where no one is likely to pass, whether cars, bikes, or pigs.

Ask anyone who spins a wrench in moto for a living and they will more then likely know him. I for one would start spinning wrenches again for minimal pay again just to get my hands on one of those bikes and see the insides of them.

Give any dude who can make a supercross main Fabio’s bike for a month and I’d bet the results will be competitive and almost identical to Fabio himself….meanwhile, which of these street bike racers could even win C class at Loretta’s on tomac’s bike?

Fully agree here !

And it's two different sport ! What's wrong not knowing quartararo ???

A basketball player cannot be a fan of Handball, same for european football and american football, so it is the same between roadbike and dirtbike

Posted this on Steve’s Twitter, such a weird take and classically, he tries to change tacks when challenged…

number of people that watch MotoGP?
number of people that watch Supercross?
number of people that listen to PulpMX?
overlap of people that listen to pulp and watch MotoGP? low
overlap of people that watch Supercross and MotoGP? higher than you’d expect.

Steve’s circle isn’t a good representation of the people that have heard of FQ20, and is confirmation bias in action. ET3 posted about monster Yam colours: his bike matched the MotoGP bike. FQ20 posted MX in the US.
It’s win-win and blucru specific, such a weird hill to die on?

He replied twice, which was cool:

Fabio could would make the fast 40 at a national. If your ridiculous post had any merit, then the privateers who are making 50k a year should start riding street bikes because he makes about doubt what  Tomac makes

I’d never heard the name until I listened to the Pulp MX Show. I also watched the race and don’t remember seeing or hearing his name. Somehow I tuned that out or something.
