What is his 250 SX record now, something like 9 wins from 25 races?

Ricky had more in two years.

Jett is good, obviously, but the guys in this thread talking world records are nuts. He's beating lifetime 250 guys. Literally guys who will never have a 450 career.

Hows Craig been doing? People were all "He could win the 450 class on his 250!" last year. Well he can't even top 10 on a factory 450 right now sooo...

I think people gotta respect the 450 talent a lot more.

Totally agree. It’s not hating on Jett to look at history and realize there’s enough guys that you can’t count on two hands that were destined for greatness and didn’t reach it. He will most likely have a great career and win multiple 450 championships, but to sit here and say he will break MC’s SX record and RC’s MX record is borderline delusional.

I’ll tell you who doesn’t have it… Christian Craig. Man is he terrible. Should’ve defended his title. He’s embarrassing out there.

Tough to be RJ or McAdoo right now. If you listen to the 250 press conference it’s clear Jett is just toying with these guys.

Well he certainly isn’t chipping away at 72 playing big fish in the small bike class with RJ

Careful. Don't you know all the adversity he's been through. No one has had a career like him.

At this point I am just actively rooting for bad races from contenders and for Jett to win every race so there will be no excuse but to ride a 450 on the east

What I think is cool and scary at the same time, he always goes as fast as needed. Not as fast as he can. So many guys make that mistake. A win pays the same points no matter the time gap. So fun to watch his style.

Jett does indeed have "it".  As far as a 250 goes, as far a his popularity goes, as far as his personality goes, yes,  he has it nailed.  Will there be a steep learning curve in the big class?  Of course.  History has shown that over and over again.....it's a given.  But can he put his name in the books as one of the all time greats?  Who knows.....  Several factors over the next decade will help decide this debate.  He's young, wealthy, fit, fast, charming on a live mic, and damn talented.  It's all up to him.  In last nights field of the 450's, he could have been within the top 5 without question, even on his 250.  He is THAT good.  His racecraft is superb in how he handles a moto, and he demonstrates  that over, and over again.......that is why he has multiple championships at such a young age already.  Haters will hate, fans will cheer, he doesn't seem fazed by either.  I say everybody just shut up, and enjoy watching the ride.  Love, or hate, he's just an insane talent.......  In this era, he is exceptional at a young age already.  Let's just enjoy the show.

Sort of a related question, where will superdupermotocross wins count in the record books?  Neither, both, a category of their own? Someone is going to shatter the record for superdupermotocross wins this year.

Six guys in the 450 main had a faster lap on a rougher track. Hard to say he would have been too 5. More than the top 5 would be decimating Hampshire and McAdoo if they were racing 250s.

Yep. We truly haven’t seen him ride as fast as he can cause he just doesn’t need to.

He's going to go into the 450 and be par with Sexton.

The Roczen, Tomac, Anderson, Stewart, Webb etc generation are all on the verge of retirement.

He'll be racing the same guys on 450 that he's pasting on a 250. Will he get 72 wins in Supercross? 10+ wins a season for 7 years. Damn that'll be tough.

Outdoors I can see him tacking up win streaks.

How do the super duper cross races count in the record books?

The very first post of the thread mentions him being able to break MC and RC's records.

Could break and will break are two different things, but you know that already.

The OP didn't say Jett will, just that he's the only one that could.

Jett reminds me of Bayle with his unhurried, take it easy riding style. He doesn't  seem to match Bayle's ability to find creative lines, but that may be due to track design of the two different periods.

So the win stats of 2 ex-riders is "every record in the sport".

Got it.

I think even saying could is a stretch. 3 perfect seasons, 103 MX wins, and 73 SX wins is flat out unattainable these days IMO. I 100% agree with the guy I was quoting on Jett, just seemed like he didn't read the first post.

Could he end up an all time great? Absolutely. Passing up MC and RCs numbers? Not a chance in hell. He still has to race Sexton for most of his career, and the "old guard" top guys still have a couple years of winning potential left.

I admit that may have been hyperbole, but all the major records are held by those 2, yes.

Let’s put it this way - Jett is still 13 titles away from matching RC. 13.

FWIW I think those records in particular are practically unbreakable.

the truth is, no one knows. and sorry to those who predict his success in the 450 class from day one, if it happens, it was a lucky guess and you win zero points.

there is simply NO way to know.
