Money is #1 .. weather of course is important. A pro am race pays decent. I Wi. They hv 2 weekends in a row. I was a little surprised but not really. That the locals that don’t race much had the best finishes. A 250 a LL champ 7,4 a couple 450 top 20 riders not in the top 5.

Minnesota produces fast talent in a 7 month period since we have winters. You get a good rider from MN, watch out, because they only had 7 months to become fast every summer if they never go south during the winter.
You can say the same thing about the north east with: John Dowd, Doug Henry, Jimmy DeCotis, Just Barcia, Justin Cooper (who I actually raced with in the NE a few times in my youth) You can even add Catanzaro to the list as he makes mains.
There are more of course, it's the same with most sports my father was a pro baseball pitcher for the Phillies. Him and his father would go to a warehouse and pitch in the middle of winter when it was 0 degrees out.
Ohio has had some fast guys making the show.

Holly crap. What a squad that would be if we still had motocross racing in high school. I remember getting out of grade school and junior high in the 70’s and riding my bike as fast as I could to Aviation High to watch the South Bay High School riders battle it out on the football and baseball fields. Heard it was real big out in the valley and they raced at Dunes. Sucks that it got shut down before I got in high school.
