I'm not a fan, but damn I forgot how many cold, heartless people come out of the woodwork after the 1st round with shit takes. I don't like seeing anybody struggle this much.

He clearly has his haters on here, but I think we can all agree this series is much worse off without him in it.

Heal up Austin.

There are some extra special emotionally retarded empathetically empty individuals who call themselves fans of this sport.

For some reason Forkner rubs a certain segment of people the wrong way. I don't quite know what it is. Guys like Trey Canard got a lot more sympathy despite having a very similar record of recurring crashes and "bad luck."

If it is only a fractured scapula, he could be back this season. Not a major injury unless he absolutely shattered the thing, which I doubt. He didn't look THAT injured coming off the track.

I "read somewhere" (actually this very thread) that it was tib/fib.

I "read somewhere else" (another comment this thread) that it was his scapula.

I saw that he got shit whipped into a flying Raggedy Andy doll.

so what is the rule exactly on switching coasts?

is it starting a main on one coast?

if a rider doesn't make it to the first turn, or first transponder, is it technically a start?

are PC's attorneys currently going over the rule book with a magnifying glass?

5.2 250SX East/West Championship Guidelines

a. Riders must designate the region in which they intend to participate prior to the first event of the season.

b. Once a rider has designated their region, they may not transfer to the opposite region in the 250SX class unless the rider is injured at the first event that they are competing in and failed to start any part of the evening program. The request must be submitted in writing to AMA. The rider must remain in the new region for the rest of the season.

Knowing that the father of Austin Forkner is on this board, I would like to suggest some things. Because this can’t be another Ian Trettel story neither Broc Hepler…

1. Go to the Mayo Clinic, when he’s tested he can start working with their brain rehabilitation team.

2. If his brain is OK, than come to Europe to work with Marc De Reuver. He had it all but also screwed it up, due to injuries and so many other things. Now he’s working as trainer for F&H Kawasaki, makes riders better and he could help Austin Forkner prep himself for the Nationals. Creating some mental toughness riding on European tracks in Dutch weather. Learning from De Reuver his mistakes, taking notice of everything and being ready for that 450cc outdoors championship. Working in Europe on this “quest” he could also race one or two local races already with a 450cc (I was thinking about ADAC, Dutch Masters of Motocross, …)

So, any news on his condition? I’ve looked around and haven’t seen anything. I hope that no news is good news and he can lineup for Oakland.

Believe me CTE is real, concussion rehab is real, ...

"Like McAdoo, it had been three years since Forkner lined up for a race in Anaheim and showed his excitement with a great qualifying lap that put him on top of the board. The pole position had him in the same heat as his teammate, but Forkner had to work through the pack after a small mistake in the opening laps. He would regain the positions to finish third in the heat race.

Forkner was lined up to the inside of his teammate, but didn’t get the jump at the gate drop and trailed McAdoo down the start straight. His wheel ended up getting tangled with another rider and the impact caused a crash that forced Forkner to sit out the main event. He will be getting further evaluation from his doctors this week to determine if he can line up for Oakland."

The biggest conclusion that I've gotten from this thread is that my user name and picture are fucking stupid. Just as stupid as most of the comments in this thread serving no real purpose.

He needs a complete reset. Smaller team, on a 450. He’ll out of the title hunt/conversation in the 450 class, gives him a chance to work without the added pressure and expectation to win. Finishing his career out as a top 10 450 guy is much better than a top level 250 guy that isn’t able to complete the seasons.

Solid idea …This definitely seems to be the key for some racers that need a total reset new bike all together

If am him, I’m asking Mitch to build me a 450 so I can race later in the season. Maybe a 450 will force him to ride more conservatively. If not he needs to hang it up.

Could always buy the KR KX from Mitch…

It looked like he smacked the back of his head really hard. Also, the way he came down on his neck/head was pretty gnarly.
I have no genial commentary on what he should do nor do I have any other typical non-germane internet shit talk to contribute. My point? Some folks should really learn to STFU. I’m quite sure Mitch and the P.C. crew would agree with me on this.
I just want the dude back on the track and healthy.

So it's a tib/fib, knee, scapula, concussion w/CTE injury and he'll be going to Europe to rehab and prepare to race the 450 outdoors on a small privateer team?

Never said CTE isn’t real…but you aren’t qualified to make a medical concussion determination from the comfort of your couch…let the professionals do their job and determine the injuries and what rehab measures need to be taken…

Maybe I'm wrong but when Forkner had the "Sex, breakfast of champions" buttpatch on his pants that's when, even myself, had started to see him as arrogant.

I don't like to see anyone get hurt and as a human, I hope he makes a full recovery. I am just shocked he still has a factory deal, I think there's more deserving riders out there but Mitch seems to invest heavily in his riders rather put them through the "industry meatgrinder" per say.

Knee is the concern.
There is a lot of speculation in this thread

going to pay for a MX1 ride seems like stupid career choice to me, especially as he will get paid to race 250SX next year ,

he would not get one of the very few paying mx1 riders,

However, it’s seems it’s not that after all

I’ve done both and you’re not doing anything but going to the hospital with a broken tib/fib.

Mitch had Jordan Smith on his team the last 2 years and he basically was collecting paychecks. Now Star has Smith signed for this year. I'd take Forkner any day of the week over Smith.

MX2!!!! Not MXGP... Massive difference

He's 24 (? I  thought he was younger) - so,  he can't even try to do MX2 - the only option in the World Championships for him would be the MXGP class.

And there, he Would be Eaten alive.

Well, same for MX2 if they didn't have that p**s poor rule - with his 'luck', he'd not last a season.

I feel for the young bloke, - he's been damaged so many times now.

And, the way he spun / tumbled was vicious. It was the sort of thing you'd more expect from a full speed prang, not from a 30ft out of the gate prang. It was frightening.

At least he hasn't got the Idiocy of Luongo The Drongo's "23 And You Are Out" rule to contend with - he's got some years, if he can keep going. What was Osbornes age at the time of his first US title - 28 / 29?  As is so often said "You Can Work With Speed". So, if he's not crocked,  and wants to keep at it, he'll have opportunities. Be they with Kawi, or other manufacturers.

Hope he's OK.
