Pretty awesome
Wow, that was pretty cool !
Awesome preparation and commitment. Pilot/rider/actor/climber, etc. He does it all. Could have just had a stuntman do it and saved a ton of time and money but Les Grossman don't play that. He broke his ankle jumping from building to building in 2018 and turned a 9-month recovery into a 9-week recovery by rehabbing 10 hours a day for 7 days a week then was back at it.
This was also bad ass from another previous movie

Stan has a big closet.
Stock bike isnt enough when jumping off a cliff you need Xtrig, Acrapovic and CRM carbon tank.
Awesome that he is doing things like that and that age. Cost in time and money is high but they do it proper way.
Gee, shows how much movies spend to get the shot, 6 near new trashed bikes....surely they are buggered after dropping that height
now that was insane, one hell of a plane too
Yeah it’s cool but have you ever seen his couch jump? That was insane!
Through Lord Xenu, all things are possible!
Tom is a badass. One of the few in Hollywood that can actually hold his own compared to the characters he plays.
What the fuck.

Don't lowball me, I know what I've got.
WOW! I was expecting some CG or a stunt double and a cheesy movie scene . I saw the thread pop up a few times and kept avoiding clicking on it. But WOW , it was impressive! Tom really gets into the character he is playing! I am blown away. It would be impressive if Travis Pastrana was the person doing the jumps, a person who is known for motorcycle jumping and base jumping. But then to have an actor do it , it blew me away. It makes me want to see the movie to see how they put it into a script and some of the other footage they have . Crazy , imagine riding out off that ramp, and then add a helicopter following you close behind and drones close in front. What a motivational thing to watch.
Matt Damon on Tom Cruise, start at 1:10
When I saw this..... I got really suspicious....
So... a major movie studio, has a 60 yr old Tom cruise jump a bike off a cliff and parachute down, six freakn times, to get a shot for a movie? That could have easily been done a different way (stunt man or cgi)?
Who insured the movie and/or Tom for that stunt?
I've seen stuff like this a dozen times before when the actual truth comes out years later....
If something is too good to be true... it probably is...
Pit Row
...and we never landed a man on the moon either.
When you are Tom Cruise, you basically get to do whatever the eff you want. It's badass he WANTS to do this.
Pilot, base jumper, skydiver, not to mention he literally hung off a plane for one of the other movies....
I think it's badass he's actually leveraging his fame and money to do MORE things and add to his resume, instead of pulling the "I'm too valuable, get someone else to take the risk" card. Not that his resume needs additions.
I also appreciate the fact his movies don't have some other agenda, it's all pure entertainment....old school, if you will.
A dozen times ? Can you name 2 for us ?
Seeing the harness system during the training got my brain going. How much would an average Joe pay to ride a SX track with absolutely no worry about coming short ? Maybe big wave tow in surfing should be next. Tow me in, if I fall yank me up to safety
Earth is flat from what I've hear too.
"That could have easily been done a different way (stunt man or cgi)?"
There is also this little thing called getting a good shot for the movie. You could never in a million years get that with CGI or a stuntman. When he is (and he is) actually doing the stunt, the results can be seen in the final product.
I would think he had to go in for a surgical ball reduction so he can walk normally.
As others said, don't wanna know about his personal life, but man what a greatest of all time actor and entertainer, truly dedicated to his art/craft.
*competent
If he's done 13,000 motocross jumps or whatever, I wonder how he would do in a Vet C race?
scientology gives him special powers
I wonder how badass his Sprinter would be... Would make Kenny's one look like an old Transit.
