Hey,
My friends and I are looking at taking a moto trip to the Carolina's from MN in April 2023. I am looking for some advice on tracks to go to. We are pretty average vet B riders, that like more natural tracks without big jumps unless they are safer jumps. If possible we love sand tracks as well. It seems like there are quite a few tracks down in those areas. Please share if you have any tracks that you would recommend, even on the way down/up that direction. We are looking to check out Myrle beach during this time as well. Thanks in advance!
WCMX, JWTF, Cowbranch, Morgans Corner, and Windy Hill all have sandy based soil! NCMP is the biggest and best in the state. Then you still have a huge selection of hard pack tracks toward the western part of the state. You have Dreamville, which is part sandy, Black Ankle, etc....
Its a shame Reeds place closed it would have been perfect.
Thanks sgrimmxdad, to include hard pack tracks what would be your top three? NCMP looks like a blast!
If you end up closer to in traveling South Fork MX in VA is very fun and awesome dirt

I'm not a local, but here is a list of tracks I've been keeping in that area. Two years ago I went to ClubMx and due to rain I had to scramble to find a place to ride. That's when this list will come in handy.

I can speak to Paradise MX being awesome.
I can also speak to The Shoals being awesome.
Good to see someone else took over GTR - Great dirt there
NCMP for sure, try to schedule a weekend for the best prep but open daily. If you like sand WCMX and JWTF are not to far apart and both have camping with hookups open daily! Morgans Corner is a great sand track but mainly open on weekends!
Black Ankle is a new and very cool track, they just added a AM SX track too. Dreamville is an awesome track too, it is a sandy hard mix.
We have plenty of great tracks, not knocking any of them, these are just where we ride the most.
Does NCMP prep at all during the week? I’m heading down that way the week after Christmas and NCMP was one of my planned stops. Planning on West Craven too. Looking for one other stop that’s open during the week.
To OP: If you happen to get lucky and Silver Valley is open while you’re there, definitely check it out. One of my favorite tracks for sure but not open very much.
If your timing is right, the GNCC "Camp Coker bullet" race is April 15-16 , not far from Myrtle
Find a time when shoals is open. You won't regret it.
Have fun DM268! Let me know how it goes. I’m also from MN & have always wanted to do a road trip to find new tracks whether it’s west or east.
Definitely hit up west craven if you like deep sand!
Myrtle Beach Mx park is a decent sand track, just over thirty minutes from the beach. Perfect for some morning motos then heading down to the beach
Add Revolution MX park in SC to the list. Unfortunately moto 40 closed down.
I can only speak to North Carolina motocross Park Awesome track , Wes Craven's a fun place as well. Deep sand
Morgan's Corner is still open yes? I went there about 12 years ago.
Thanks everyone for all of the comments. I will be checking into these places some more!
What's open during the week closer to Kings Mountain/Shelby, NC? My dad lives there. Spent 10 days there around Thanksgiving and only managed to ride on a Sunday at Top Gun. Not much reasonably close was open. Hoping to ride for a week each month this winter with my son.
Pit Row
I spent 4 years living in eastern North Carolina and recently moved back up to Ohio within the past two years . The moto scene in NC is awesome. Some of my favorites were West Craven Mx, JWTF, Countyline MX, and halfmoon is a fun smaller arena style track as well. West craven and Jimmy’s are definitely sandier and the other two are a bit more hardback. Enjoy it down there!
Paradise mx is one of my favorites in sc. the shoals is great too, some of the best dirt I’ve ever ridden.
I am planning a similar trip that week. Planning on hitting Battery Park on the way to WW for their two races.
NCMP is not regularly prepped during this time of the year. I would keep an eye on their Facebook page. I was there last weekend and they had rain Thursday and were open Sat and Sunday. Not much work was done to the track and it was still a mess on Sunday. We were told by a local that the owner was out of town so there was not track work going on. If there is no post on their socials about conditions I would find another track in the area. But when it's not muddy NCMP is an excellent track.
I went 2 weeks ago and it looked like Nam during the rainy season, sx track was prime though.
