Well seems it will be same in EU.
First it was late November then early December and today got mail it will be mid-January 2023.

Sounding like release after A1 so will the Yamaha backed teams get them earlier to set up and test?

Strange if they have them you would think they would be in the warehouses here too.

Privateers will probably either jump brands or ride the old 22

Team bikes were likely sent over with the media/test bikes. If not before. Easier to ship low numbers of bikes quickly.

Had a chance to talk with Doug Dubach and Kris Keefer about the 22' vs 23' YZ450f.

Question to both: "is the 2023 good enough, or different enough to justify the purchase if you own a 22'?"

Dubach, "Yes. It's a better platform to start with. Noticeably slimmer, lighter and the motor pulls better throughout the entire RPM range. It's just a better bike."

Keefer, "No, once you get your 22' dialed in...the 23' didn't feel different enough to justify the purchase. I would keep my 22'."

I'm sure Dubach is still finding YZ's under his Christmas tree each year with all the DEV work he's done with them while Keefer is likely just getting "bro-pricing" on one. But Dubach has always seemed like a pretty fair and honest dude with me....

The 23 does feel different from the 22, but is that difference worth 2-3K? Depending on what you want out of your Yamaha? I like stability, so the 22 is more stable to me at this time (only have ridden twice out west and once back east). If you hoped your 22 would corner better then it sounds like you are a candidate to love the 23 YZ450F. My 2022 is dialed in so to me it just depends on how much money you want to spend or save. I just did an updated 2.0 video, that will be up on Racer X that will go over a couple key areas that are different on the track compared to a 22.

Also, just FYI. I don't get BRO deals on Yamahas. HAHA! I get one test bike from Yamaha and if I want another bike for my personal reasons, I pay for one through Power Motorsports. Good deal, but not a "BRO" deal.

Do you have info if delays are just shipment related or other reasons like replacing parts?
By the info everyone shared 23 model should be step in right direction even 22 was great bike.

As far as I know, it's just shipment delays. I have heard rumors of clutch issues, but have asked around and those seem to be just that, "rumors". I have ridden my test bike and am fairly abusive on clutches and seems ok so far. I do think it takes some time to "feel" out a new machine, especially when the platform is this different, compared to what we have been riding for the past few years. A lot of things are better on the 23 and some things feel quite a bit different. I for one am not going to sit here and say IT IS THE BEST 450 EVER... Yet.. If you go back to my first impression video, I was cautious and told the viewer that I didn't want to get all caught up yet in the newness hype. I have been guilty of that in the past, and I don't want to do that again. I will go step by step on what I feel and how it has grown on me or not grown on me. What I do to make it better. What I do/did to make it worse (if I did, go the wrong way on a setting). This is how I am going to slow roll this sucker.

Thanks for jumping in, Keefer. We talked briefly while you were on the gate at World VETs....not the best time to have a meaningful conversation, lol. Always appreciate your reviews. Probably a closer perspective for the "common man", like most of us on Vital.

Sorta like how Pingree thought it was the greatest bike he ever rode as he walked out to the mailbox to collect his Whiskey Throttle Show check from Yamaha.

Yeah I'm gonna go with the overwhelming majority of testers that seem to love the bike so far, and not just the one killjoy. lol. I'm confident once its set up for my weight it will be much better than my 19.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like this thing may have picked up a degree of instability-oversteer-stinkbug feel that makes me a bit nervous.

There are plenty of voices saying this is the best thing ever (some of them paid by Blue), and a few whispers that it's a bit snakey.

I love my current YZ450 and the stability is my favorite aspect, apart from the engine. And I'm still traumatized from the '09 CRF450 when they went way too far in this direction.

Will have to decide soon, riding blue either way, and the demand for this 23 is intense.

Far be it for me to say that other people's review of a bike is wrong. It's all a matter of opinion, but having had an hour on the bike, I experienced no instability-oversteer-stinkbug feel. It felt very familiar to my 22, but with improved cornering, that is it was easier to lay over into corners with less tendency to want to stand up mid corner, while still having the straight line stability I required.
The biggest issue I have with the 22 is the vague feeling in front wheel traction. I did not have that feeling on the 23, all the while the bike had the same confident feel at speed in a straight line.
There is a lot to like about the 22, but it feels like a sledge hammer compared to the 23 model. For me, the 23 keeps me buying blue.

I heard that too from a good source. Something about the rod letting go on both bikes...

I've actually ridden one, it's not worth all the hype...

Assuming your chain just slid off guide or might you have a potential issue?

A lot of Ti bolts, folding levers, ti pegs, shifter, brake pedal, chain guard, bars.
Pretty much most of what I did on my 22 YZ 250.

Keefer will have a 2023 once they become public. No "professional tester" is sitting on bikes from years prior... They have to stay relevant or the sponsor dollars don't roll in.
