Hidden fees are bullshit and other dealers try to suck you in by lying. Truth is, manufactures could do more to help with but they don't give a crap nor do they act like they can help control the BS tactics of some less honest dealerships. We've done that pricing since before this Rona bullshit started and I can tell you we aren't (and never were) cutting the fat hog so to speak. As an owner in the motorsports business I'd entertain selling this place in a second. It just isn't worth the stress we endure nor having clowns berate you trying to make a living off the prices we have.
So go ahead and flame away for the prices we have, dealerships have to make money or they just don't survive. Then what? It's only fair to be able to make living at it??? VERY few of the general customer have even a clue what it takes to keep a business like this open and going. No fucking clue about inventory costs/availability, leasing/owning a building, advertising, insurance/liabilites, taxes, employees, payroll, phones/internet, donations, ect, ect, ect/ It never stops/ I'm into this place for a shit load of money! All the risk is on s owner's shoulders, this place folds and I lose my fucking house! Lots of dealerships are the very same way. Someone with a passion for motorsports is risking everything for a sport they love. Why shouldn't we make money doing that when we take that risk????
ok, rant over. I've spoke my peace. Let's bitch about Vince Friese again for a while instead...
I’m working out a deal now for a Honda street bike and that’s gonna be right at MSRP including tax and freight.
What’s your sales tax rate ?
I’m picking up my SX300 tomorrow afternoon, they are $1800 cheaper (retail listed price)
Feeling a little better about the SX price, but they are proud of the XC for sure
I called around to see what dealers were asking and it ranged from $13,300 - $15,700 OTD.
Some of these dealers were really high, but they gotta pay their rent too. I get it…
On the other side of the coin It would be interesting to see a major manufacturer try going to a D2C approach.
Pit Row
I’ll be going to Ridersville again when I get a new bike. I won’t even call anywhere else. They earned my business when they didn’t try to overcharge their customers.
If you want to know the true freight and surcharges the dealer pays for a unit, OEMs post this information on their websites. Many dealers inflate the freight charges above what the OEM is charging them. It might save you some money to check this information before you head down to your dealership. I assure you that regardless of the size or location of the dealership, every dealer pays the OEM the same price for the unit and for the freight.
Keep in mind that unlike cars, motorcycles are delivered in crates partially unassembled. In a sue happy society like ours, OEMs would never deliver a crated unit to a consumer for the consumer to assemble. If anyone does it, it will be the Chinese. Good luck taking an anonymous Chinese company to court for a liability issue.
You and I could pull it off easily, but there are plenty of folks who still depend on someone to do even basic stuff.
So someone is going to have to put them together and prep, even if it's an independent "qualified" shop, he ain't doing it for free.
