First time back on bike vet expert ,= 10 broken ribs

Edited Date/Time 11/4/2022 6:51am
So,picked up a crf 450 after being off bike for like 4 yrs. Decided to hit the track. A small lil triple I did all day took me out. 10 broken ribs and a ambulance ride and over night stay at hospital. This is the worst pain ever.

Sorry you had such bad luck first time out, so frustrating and painful.

Yea man. Broke a bunch of ribs a couple years ago on an easy double. Wound up landing flat on my back with the wind knocked out of me. Back riding again but have lost my mojo for jumping. Need to get it back. Try not to laugh, cough or fart. Give it time and best of luck!

Heal up & get back out there

I had a wreck with a broken femur and a couple broken ribs and I didn't even hardly notice the femur at first because the rib pain was like being in another dimension. Laying there making a noise resembling a bleating sheep.

Ah man tough one! I did 9 ribs in multiple places/pieces front and back, punctured a lung, and dislocated my first rib, which I think is your collarbone, from the sternum. They actually left that dislocated for some reason (I wasn’t begging them to put it back in at that moment either….). Anyway, ordered the parts to fix my bike that first night in the hospital! Six weeks later I made myself get back on and see how it felt. Didn’t feel great but got me over a bit of fear.

One huge piece of advice…. Make SURE when you drink you drink slow. You get the wrong tube swallowing and you’ll think death is a solid option!!!!!

Thanks for reminding me why I stay off the bike! I was just thinking about getting a dual sport 🤣

I quit racing in 2011 and decided to ride with some buddies at Pala in 2013 and dislocated both shoulders at the same time just cruising around. Haven’t touched a bike since, don’t miss being hurt all the time.

In my 5th weak of 11 non-displaced fractures over 7 ribs (3-10) on my left side. Crashed on my road bicycle. Make sure you stay up on your pain meds. I took Motrin. 3 every 6 hrs for the better part of 2 weeks then backed down to every 12 hrs. I also took mucinex to help loosen up stuff in my lungs so I didn’t have to cough. Sneezing is a bear so try to stop it before it happens. Use the breathing device if they gave you one. Don’t want to get pneumonia. The pain sucks but it’s does get better. I rode my spin bike for 30 minutes yesterday and am a bit sore but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Time is your friend. I am having lots of doubt about getting back on my road bike but I love the way it makes me feel after a ride.

Without trying to sound like a wise ass, but did you wear a chest protector?

Hope you feel better soon!

Last comment 4 years ago...man you really did wait 4 years lmao. Went out, got a bike...still didn't comment. Then broke your ribs and like "Damn, I should tell Vital" ha. Not making fun or anything just amusing. Especially since your account is from '08! Love it lol.

Heal up! Good luck getting in out and of bed for awhile. I use the "Twist t-shirt" method when they start to hurt bad.

Isn’t that the main original purpose of Vital? Reading about and telling people about your injuries? I found Mikee P and Fresh Dirt or was it WhipIt? When I was injured and have been on moto message boards ever since. When my bro broke himself off a piece 10-15 yrs ago I got him a Lap top desk for his bed and a Vital login, or was it MotoNews or MotoDrive or whatever and he’s been here ever since.

I was just pointing out the timelines, it gave me a chuckle! It's all motocross and it's all good, I'm glad he came back!
Idk how he stayed away for 4 years lol

I feel ya... took my e-bike out for a quick ride yesterday.... hit some leaves... faceplant to rocks... slammed hard enough my goggles came off... dislocated shoulder..... mashed my already f'ed ribs, and seems one of them popped out of place...... barely moving today... good times! LOL... but ya.. ribs are the gift that keep on giving! if they heal quick.. you'll be good by x-mas.. if they heal slow... you may be good by July 4th... LOL...

I wish i had a dollar for every rib i beat up. Bad habit of tucking like blocking a body shot. Guess its better than arms or wrist. After the 1 st time i stopped going to hospital. You know if its green stick or broke, cartilage etc. 😣🤪 heal up and ride safe

Man, I feel for you. I wrecked hard a week and a half ago and my ribs still hurt. Not broken, but definitely bruised.
