Your starter/battery contribute to the acceleration/traction during “start mode” and other short periods of time when needed for extra speed.

if you want max power (for like drag racing or hill climbs), that's electric.. but that's also heavy and takes a while between runs to cool and charge...

its gas if you want lightweight and noise... more than enough power for our tires on loose surfaces...

Agreed.

I heard MCR is working on a "heat seeking" feature to make Friese's life easier.

Lighter, less moving parts, less expensive to manufacture & maintain, easier to work on, more power per cc…….. ready……. 2 strokes👍

I know they have this in road bikes already, but an onboard computer that adjusts suspension and engine mapping to your riding style. Like on the fly AI learning.

Hopefully some price point models.. KTM tried that with GG and now they're ten thousand dollars again, with a $600 increase YoY (22-23) for a black gradient graphic added on the radiator shrouds.

Everything in the world has gotten more expensive the last year to be fair.

Electronic suspension will be tried by someone, specially with the data they're gathering from the Adventure bike segment. Will it work? I don't know, probably not in the beginning.

As guys are hoping that there is computerized suspension for on the fly adjustments. Maybe they’ll cone out with talent and or fitness in a can.

KTM and Yamaha are close, but not dead on: tool-less and broad/quick base suspension valve adjustment.

It is actually kinda silly when you think about it that we have been using tools for what amounts to a soft <-> stiff setting for nearly 30 years.

Yamaha is using this electronic steering dampener on their factory bikes in Japan.

Hey maybe they should innovate and start making older, popular models again, with updated metals and welding methods. The road bike fraternity are getting this served to them. What would you pay for an original 1975 Suzuki RM
with a carb that has fuel injection, forks and shocks that have updated internals, stronger rims.

Very familiar, I deal alot with finance. It's part of my job and increasing everyday. There are many things companies can do before passing along an increase like that. Or.. they will if they want business.

You should try not assuming people are ignorant too..

They already are... they're called e-bikes. Anyone that can fog a mirror will be able to quad and skim whoops.

You make a good point: ‘money getting tighter’ has slowed new bike sales…waaaaay down. Combine that with increased prices and the OEM’s are “doing it to themselves”.

Öhlins has had electric-adjusted suspension since the late 80s and 90s but since its outlawed they didnt pursue it.

Its also linked to a GPS sensor that could change your suspension coming in to a sand section etc.

Electronic controlled throttle?
I'm actually amazed that fly by wire throttle hasn't shown up on a dirtbike or hyper dirt focused dual sport yet as it's trickled over to base level street bikes with lowish price points.

Not that I'm advocating for it/against it, just surprised that it's not on dirt bike yet.

I would like to see some type of warning system that tracks could use , built into the bike. Some simple lights and or symbols ,that could also be used to record lap times and map out tracks. A GPS unit that could trigger a warning light on a bike as it approached a stopped bike on the track. And also allow a track controller to manually trigger warnings. In Pro racing they could use a system like this to have super accurate segment times and warn riders in areas that a flagger can not get to. Maybe an in ear headphone could provide a warning beep or sound along with the lights. Have a bluetooth connection to the helmet and or goggles with a heads up display or a couple LED's . that could light in the color of a flag so it would be green until you were coming up to a section with a down rider, then yellow, and red or orange as you got closer. Flashing red could be a red flag , Maybe flash the yellow slower until you come up to the crashed bike so the fast flash catches your eye , then as it slows you know you should expect a rider down. Maybe a row of Leds that could also give a rough location ,Left, center, right . A small strip of LEDs stuck under the visor or on the bar pad. maybe both. Or have left and right headphones that could be integrated. Commercial surveying GPS is accurate enough for something like this to work on an automated level. Still keep flaggers around to help with sending notifications . Then while the flagger is helping a downed rider there is still something warning the riders on the way toward them. Tracks are using transponders more and more locally so somebody could build that level of function into a transponder system to set them apart from others. And locals could log onto the website and see a map of their lines and breakdown of lap times by segment and corner to corner so it could be a combination training, scoring, warning system. And could also include communication. It would be cool to have short range coms so as you get closer to another rider you can talk only to riders inrange . Oakley had or has a goggle with a heads-up display in it for snowboarding or skiing. Something like the controller EMTB's have could be the interface on the bars. then a LED module that you could place under your visor or on the bar pad. Or if and when somebody is working on a system like this they will figure out how to make it work better. I bet tracks could get a discount on the insurance if they had a system like this. That could offset the cost. And then if you could build it into a transponder that could be rented or bought it could be implemented pretty quickly in the bigger racing organizations and then trickle down.

I’m pretty glad fly by wire isn’t on dirt bikes yet. Last thing I want is a computer between my wrist and the throttle body second-guessing every input and trying to deliver what it thinks I mean by the current throttle tube position.

And here’s your reason why dirt bikes don’t have fly-by-wire or electronic suspension.
The factories know their average dirt bike consumer…

How can you trust an EFI then?

I would think we start integrating our phones more and more with the items we already modify, getting reports and tune options straight from our cellies.

1. Electric Throttle that you can adjust the pull and revs on your phone with a slider
2. Electronic suspension that gives you G-Force ratings, temp, and travel. Then allowing you to adjust pre-load and stiffness from your phone as well. For forks and rear spring.
3. ECU - Already being done....
4. Radiator Temp throughout the system.
5. Fuel pump status and reports
6. Battery statistics
7. Fuel statistics
8. ABS stats
