It still boggles my feeble mind how you can come from behind and pass the 'fastest' rider for the win, late in the race, and not be the fastest guy...? Must be some of that common core math.

In '21 he won (backed into apparently) 8 races. At least twice, Atlanta and the last race, he passed the 'clearly faster' BarbieKen.

Adding Craig, Colt Nichols…..Sexton will have it figgered out. Webb too 5 will be pretty good for him. Did himself no favors taking the summer off.

He had the speed before to beat all of those guys. He slacked on his preparing last year due to burn out. If his mind is right and he is serious about preparing for 23, then he can beat all of those guys once again, and win.
Yeah but....according to Vital experts....those were the other riders "bad" years. Wink

Webbs race craft is easily in the top 3 of all time...

Depends on how they build the tracks next season!! If they build them like the first few they had in the west coast last year with real whoops he will not be up front as he’s better on the smaller, tite, follow the leader tracks imo

You know he had a back injury sometime back right? When you’re in pain, it’s hard to be motivated. He landed square on his back on concrete.

He had a back injury in 2020 and won in 21, I think his back is fine

Does everyone forget that people were saying at this time last year that El Hombre was a bad pickup by Kawi and that he should’ve retired because he couldn’t run up front?

He'll be battling Mookie and Ferrandis for podium spots. I'd say top 5 by seasons end. Keep in mind, Tomac, Andersen and Sexton have more speed, but will all 3 stay healthy? We were treated to some great racing because the top guys stayed healthy. Can't count on that every season.

I wanna see the 2019-21 Webb again and hope Tomac and Anderson ride as good as this season, that would be fantastic. I'm scared though, Tomac said in a interview that the 2023 yamaha handles even better.. Let's see if anyone can step up and challenge Tomac next year.
I hope Tomac cleans house in Supercross and then decides to race the outdoors. Of course after Yamaha throws a shit load of money at him to do it

I have a hard time believing Colt will be any kind of threat, with that said I also think Craig will be a non factor. I honestly think it will come down to Eli, Chase, and Anderson. Webb, Marv, Dylan, AP, Bambam, Craig, Mookie, Roczen etc. may be in the mix and even get a lucky win. But the first 3 I mentioned were on another level than the competition last year.

Extremely few can go from being straight up well outside the top 5 speedwise to winning again. Even for Webb it's gonna be very hard to get back to a level that is required to fight for the title.

I actually can't think of anyone that has done that. Feel free to give me an example.

Exactly, everyone at the end of 2021 pretty much gave Ferrandis the outdoor title this year and look how that worked out. How many predicted Sexton would run with and beat Tomac? That’s why we run the races, nothing is ever a sure thing.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but I think Webb had 4 podiums last year?
Example- Reed had a bad year with only had 2 podiums in 2013, then turned it around to win A2 and A3 in 2014, and was running only 6points behind RV in the title chase before injury.
Definitely not a Webb fan, but he’s tenacious and it can be done……if he wants it bad enough. That remains to be seen.

Just wondering how you guys think Webb will stack up next year.
Of course the bike wasnt perfect and his fitness was way off, but he wasnt very close last year.
Also im curious as to how big of a factor the whoops not being jumpable had to do with his results.
Even in his 2 championship years he was rarely the fastest guy, but he won a lot.
I'm sure he is pissed off with a chip on his shoulder, so itll make for an interesting year, thoughts?

Its because who he's passing there lap time is getting slower and he's staying the same pace. He might not have the fastest lap in a race but look an someone like roczen even tho he had a faster lap he fades at the end so webbs laps average out a little faster
I see... Well, if they ever cut the races down to a lap, that will definitely make a difference in the results.

Really makes one wonder how one rider can evoke such hateful emotion in some people. Pretty sad actually.

Guy has incredible talent.
Never blames anyone but himself.
He's unbelievably tough...physically and mentally.
Comes across as an all around decent and solid/upstanding person (especially outside the cameras view).

Tough crowd in here.

Not a CW fan BUT he is a tough SOB both mentally & physically, has the speed and maybe now with the downtime he will be chomping at the bit.

It does make next SX season look like a good one, if only the top 10 can stay healthy….

And Jason Anderson. Literally went from 2018-2022 without a win. And he reeled off 7 this year indoors. And in some years he would’ve won the title with the amount of points he scored. Homie just had his best year ever in wins totals after throwing bricks for 4 years. It can be done.

Or could it be his cockyness and arrogance that people don’t like? His ”i get payed to race talk” and then don’t race outdoors or his ”best off season ever” and struggles to make it top 5 for most of the season?.

If you are gonna act like a prick, you better back it up to..

I like Webb but I guess being critical gets interpreted as bashing in here. I bet ya Roger D doesn’t kiss his ass telling him how wonderful he’s doing getting 6ths and 7ths. I also am not a fan of thanking the man above when you win as if you got preferential treatment and then not mentioning it when you fly off the track and get hurt.

Sometimes you don't need a rational reason to not like someone. It could just be the way they talk , or their face etc.

I don't see cockiness or arrogance....I see confidence. I see more cockiness in Reed (and that's not a slam on him).

I believe it's part of Webbs "game".... like it or not psy-ops is a big part of this sport. Look at him outside of the arena and tell me he's a "prick".

Pretty sad when people are threatened by someone who is confident these days.

He was not confident enough to line up for outdoors this summer.. and faking that brain injury that was the reason for not doing nationals, but he could race the last SX rounds with it?

If you don’t have a plan to back up what comes out of your mouth, don’t say it.

People ask why other people don’t like him and this is one of the reasons.

2022 was the best thing that could happen to Webb, i guess he will be a bit more humble when the 2023 season starts and maybe come off like a more likeable person..
