I will suspect this won't be liked much but 31 events and stretching out the season almost a full 2 months more, at what point is enough enough? Spectators won't mind but what about the racers?
Riders at this level are pushing the limits like never before. They look to off time like any of us who work for a living would. September and October is a time where they can re-boot and then spend a good amount of time in November and December preparing for the next season. This would be family time or just relax after
8 months of racing damn near every weekend.
Running events at the end of a 2 type (Sx-Mx) grueling season only to throw in 3 more events spread out over 6 weeks is pretty interesting concept considering they won't take those weekends off "relaxing" but rather busting their asses to stay focused for the next event.
Did anyone think to ask the riders what they thought? and OH by the way if a rider racing the whole season and the their time is up with the current program, do they then finish out this stuff with a new team or ???
I am sure the people in charge thought this stuff all through right?
Just an old man with an opinion.

Matthes has said that everyone in the pits is stoked for this schedule. Where have you drawn your conclusions from?

They have 31 race weekends, which means they have 21 weekends off. They will still have all of October, November and December to recharge mentally and physically, or to pad the pocket book with overseas races. When you put it in those terms, doesn't sound too bad.
I doubt very few people on here know what it is like to really train. For those that do or have, it makes this predicament seem even more absurd.
I think there should be 10 SX rounds and 10 MX rounds.
The 450 seasons are so long anyways it's almost a runaway in the 450 class. What we had this summer with Eli and Chase was a rareity.

Here again though, comparing them with other sports it does seem like stick and ball sports have a longer off season.

I don’t see this new schedule as being as complicated or demanding as it was back when they went to Europe & Oz. Also, after his year, I believe, they’ll be completing -all- 31 races by the 1st weekend in Oct or by the end of September. I’m not going to be surprised to see some of these riders go to Bercy ON TOP of all of this.
Some of the top soccer athletes play upwards of 65 soccer matches a year, with no real training break in between their 'seasons' to speak of.
The tough part of it is the pay for some/most of the backmarkers. But in reality, those guys shouldn't probably be traveling the whole series anyway. If they aren't making enough money to make a decent living, then it's not a job but rather a hobby.
