I seen a picture of it, it looks good. I was told Ricky was going to be showing it off on the track at redbud, but it was too nasty for it tobe worth it.

The original plan was for the bike to debut at the MXDN with RC and Jeff Stanton taking a lap but that was scrapped a while ago as they have had multiple supply chain issues that has slowed the progress of testing and development...had nothing to do with the conditions.

Since they are building the bike from scratch, if they dont come with a reverse engine like the Yamaha it will be a huge mistake! If they can come to the market with steal frame, decent suspension & one of the fastest 250 engines available & decent finishes with brembo brakes etc then they will sell good numbers.
But in the 250 class the engine is key!

Isnt the reverse engine patented?

Do triumphs still need to come with oil trays ?
Why would the reverse engine be patented when Yamaha didn’t create it and except for the tiny 6 cylinder racing engines of the 50s or 60s Japan has copied everybody else’s designes?

I was at the Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show back a few years ago with my 1961 Greeves MCS 250 Dave Bickers Replica. That's me in the white Bell stroker hat. The guy next to me is Dave Bickers son Paul who was invited to the show by Chad McQueen Steve's son. Paul was amazed there was somebody there that even knew his father let alone do a tribute bike to him. It's a great event if you like old cars and bikes. Well worth it.

Why do people keep posting ktm/husky’s with triumph logos like they found something?

It’s a concept. That’s why.

I hope it has three cylinders.

So, you want a cable clutch not hydraulic?
Don’t care.
Not sure if you were following along.

You said you wanted three cylinders.
I was counting the engine cylinder, front master cylinder and rear master cylinder.
If it had a hydraulic clutch, it would have a 4th cylinder for the clutch master cylinder.
Just a tech joke, nothing to see here, move along.

Yamaha has a reversed cylinder head. Gearbox and output shaft are still rearward of the crankshaft.

Triumph, Stark, WSX-TV, everybody's running late, these days.

Maybe ML knows, but who else is a development rider for them? No way Ricky is doing it all, and you'd need lots of fast guys riding it to see if it is up for it. Are services of guys like Keefer being used?

Ivan Cervantes is a development rider for Triumph of note. Both he and RC were announced for the project at the same time. Look him up. He was one of The Most Gonzo of EWC / WEC riders there has ever been, and, quite a fine MXer.

They'll have plenty of Professional Development riders, that You / I / We may never have heard of. I wish I could remember his name, but a few years ago in a Brit mag, they had a big article about a Brit Development Rider for Honda, that had been deeply involved , for a few decades, in the development of numerous, and varied, Honda Motorcycles. It's actually not that common that 'stars' are of much use as real test / development riders.

It really has surprised me that Triumph have committed to Dirt Bikes, but, it's great to see a company see a future in serious Dirt Bikes, and not just ADV bikes. The Bloors, John and now his son, Nick , Do Not Eff about. Cool

At least two recent top pros are doing a lot of the development testing.
The bikes are good. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't understand Moto2, or Triumph.
And yes, the engines have valves and pistons.

So we've moved on from rebadged KTM/Husqvarna mock ups then...

Apart from the fact that it would be a damn stupid move for a truly creative brand such as Triumph, you gotta wonder why a rebadged austrian bike would take so long to be introduced.

In January of 2000 I was sitting in Hotel in Santiago with MS and 2 others having brunch. The MS group was on the way to Patagonia for 15 days of Dual Sport Riding.

MS was regaling us with SM stories. Some pretty awesome stories I do tell! After a few of these noble and worthy stories, I told MS that he wasn’t my hero.

The two others listening were noticeably embarrassed for me – MS is not you’re hero! – less we are sitting here with him was written all of their faces and body language.

After a brief pregnant pause, I announced that Steve McQueen was my hero. MS looked at me and said the Steve was his hero also. Cleary a grand moment in time was immortalized.

Their reverse cylinder and intake design is patented. I don’t know how long it lasts but I believe the patent was published back in 2008.

A group of 3 guys in Triumph jackets were at MXoN, and they seemed to be following a mid-pack rider or battle but I couldn't tell who.

Note that isn't Weege in the middle... Just a British doppelganger. And yes I felt like a creep sneaking a picture but figured it was cool enough to document 🤣
