Hey guys,

An interesting thought popped into my head the other day: who has the most recognizable style based on riding alone?

If all the riders wore the same gear, rode the same bike, and looked exactly the same; who could you confidently pick out of the crowd?

For me, i feel like I could pick out RV2 because of the way he hangs off the back of the bike when he corners and how he seems to steer that bike with the rear end. Curious to see your guys observations as well! Thanks.

Just reading the title, this was my first thought. Elbows down, powersliding around a corner.
His right elbow is down because his wrist was fused back when he was on 80s that was the only way to get full throttle LOL

I'd say the most recognizable is Josh Hansen. I don't think anybody rides remotely similar to him.

I have been watching MX/SX since 1980, and I agree here. Like him or not, he has a style like no other I have ever seen, he stands out like a sore thumb on the bike. The revs, the wasting copious amounts of energy, the aggression. Just to the OPs point, his style is beyond recognizable.

If I was picking a favorite style, it would be Bailey all day long.

James Stewart was always balls to the wall and had his own style, I could pick him out of a crowd of blank bikes no problem.

Yeah, I don't think enough people have seen Marty actually ride to know how one of kind he was. Think Bailey/Lechein/Everts smooth, but almost more trials rider like. I don't know that I've ever seen anyone look so casual going so fast.

I don't know if you rattle off any of the greats, they all have a style you won't ever forget.

JMB has to be in there as well. Much like Pourcel, made motocross at full speed look like a parade lap.

I could pick roczen out of any crowd of riders. He’s got one of the most distinct styles to me. Elbows almost flat with the bars. Almost picture perfect without the “elbows up” style everyone says you have to have. Smooth as butter

Ryan Mills had a cool style all his own. He would always be way over the front of the bike and lift both his feet off the pegs in the air. Always stood out as different to me. Besides JS7 he was the most naturally talented rider I’ve ever seen. Turned expert at 13 and would smoke all the local races here in NY. Guys like Barry Carsten and Ty Wallace would get worked by him. He won both 125A and Schoolboy at Loretta’s in 2002 while being a rebellious kid who did what he wanted. It was all talent. Millsaps and JS7 are the only others I know to win both those classes in the same year. Who knows what his pro career could of been had he took a different path

Some real good ones already mentioned.

So I'll add Deano and Malcolm Stewart. Both have strong legs and really seem to use their hips more than most.

Loved Fonseca's style
Especially in.Supercross! He was something else on those Yamaha of Troy bikes. Kelly Smith and Matthes may disagree though! Tongue

I’ve gotta throw Marvin Musquin in on this one, he has a very unique style that is recognizable anywhere. All time though I would have to say RV, loved that rear steer poetry in motion.

I'll never forget Magoo's duckbill visor pointing to the sky and the way his head would bob around Smile

Barcia is so recognizable that most people could pick out Barcia just by watching (and listening) to his GoPro footage. lol

After Brandon, I’m going with C. Pourcel. Could make a great like Dungey look awkward and like he’s trying too hard.
Brandon's style was such next level shit, even Brandon couldn't mimmick Brandon's style. Respect to a true pioneer.

Hurricane Hannah
Hurricane Hannah

Bob Hannah on this early Unadilla track riding the Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki many years for me was the best too! What an incredible track and event to be at, they'd fly up this section then drop straight down the Screw U at the top. No style more exciting Bob or Magoo here
