Rodman???

9/4/2022 11:00am
Rodman was my neighbor for many years and I was in my 20's so it was a great time to be his neighbor. From his "blow" out parties at his house every week, DJ'ing on the sand, to Josh Slocum's until 5am, his limo was everyone's taxi (had hot rod flames painted on the side), back and forth to Vegas, all his harbor stunts and also landing a helicopter on the beach in front of my house, It was nuts. I'm so glad this was before the cell phone days where everything is recorded on video.

He went downhill after several hard years of partying. He sold his house and then a few years later I saw him at the local donut store early morning before a surf and he was absolutely dusted. He was trying to have a conversation and it wasn't happening. Not sure what he was on but that was the last time I saw him. I think he got into some trouble after that, so good to see him able doing fairly well considering where he was in his dark days.

He was a good BB player but he certainly was no role model or hero to be idolized.

You hv to b in better shape than your team mates etc to be a rebounder. A rebounder is like a fighter in the 15th rnd. Your team mates coaches and fans rely on your ability and most of all there extremely great full your willing to fight for the ball. I was a basketball star ovr 50 rebounds a game but I could score too . Totally take a game over. 7+ rebounds on 1 posetion and scoring is a great feeling. Along with game winning shots everyone goes nuts. Energy you never forget.
Tell ‘em pro! You’d out rebound Rodman with work boots on and drop 50 on the other team. After that you’d swap the transmission on the team bus in the parking lot with hand tools and grind some gears on the way home all while a lot lizard gives you a back
Rub.

Sorry to American basketball fans, but I don’t give a flying fuck about Rodman.

However, despite that, as an international moto fan I still can’t fathom that during the biggest race day of the year, they decide to go all celebrity swoon and stop calling the race to talk to someone completely irrelevant to the action.
And then during the 450s, with it all on the line, they cross to JT to show the pit footage???

WTF was that bullshit?!

No matter what you think of Rodman this comment is spot on. Wrong place, wrong time for that interview which was also not worth listening to. I think it is very strange Weege and crew did that during the second 450 moto.
Yeah I agree the comment was spot on, but at the same time the championship was decided in the first moto. I didn’t even watch the second motos. Doesn’t sound like I missed anything

You actually missed a lot in the second moto. It was very entertaining. Yes, Tomac only needed 2nd but there was still some drama.

Michael Jordan owned a road race team some years ago. Cool to see mainstream sports guys involved or even knowing about MX or any two wheeled racing.

I love ball and I get Rodman being there getting some airtime, but fuckin Bondo can eat some dicks. I’ve never seen anyone make so many mistakes consistently and never get better at their job. I honestly don’t think he likes or knows moto. Clueless.
Lol there was a shot for a while that was just the sky for like 5 seconds. Audio cutting out. Fucking embarrassing.

Did Rodman give Jett that ridiculous pearl necklace he was wearing later in the day?

Disagree, he was an outcast homeless kid treated like a loser that became an NBA MVP and Hall of Famer.. he was uneducated, but gained an education through hard work at a great university..
The short documentary on his life is fascinating, that guy has been through some shit..
He embraced individualism in the 90s and showed people it’s ok to be yourself, even if other people think it’s weird.

Yep. He’s been around it for a while. A bunch of moto industry guys took me to his club in Newport (next to Rusty Pelican on PCH) on a Sunday about 20 years ago and said “if he’s here, he’ll hook us up”. It was the Sunday funday place to go at the time but nobody was there at all that day and we were out in a few minutes. But I’ll never forget going there and how random I thought it was and I remember it every time I drive by that place still to this day. First thing I thought of yesterday when I saw him.
^This. Not quite 20 years or has it been that long?? I think it was the old Josh Slocums. It used to be on the weekend party circuit for my Newport alcoholic friends from HS, that I used to try to keep up with occasionally - coming off the couch. BITD Dennis would routinely invite patrons back to his house after hours to keep the party going - and to think I could've bench raced with him and had no idea, I barely escaped with my GF. I worked in Newport by the old McD'd across from El Ranchito. I would see him 2-3 times a week getting McD breakfast with a different spinner white girl never taller than 5' almost everytime. He called me loverboy cause he rememderd my GF from his after parties. Dennis Rodman is Legend in Newport.

Rodman is a legend in my book. Best to ever play the game as his role. MJ wouldn't have that many rings without him. I was a teenager when he became a beast in Detroit. Loved his crazy antics. As everyone else here, I had a huge crush on Carmen... He lived his best pro-baller/rockstar life. Lots of excess and crazy things. Best bro with a dictator but we all make mistakes and make/made bad decisions in our lives...

I know a lot of people hated the bad boy era of the pistons, but they were beloved in Michigan. Rodman, Thomas, Bill and crew were/are legends around here. Basketball was never the same for me after that.

Rodman's daughter Trinity recently signed a contract with a pro soccer team in the NWSL. I guess it's the largest money contract in the league at $1.1 million for 3 years. Apparently, also she was a rookie on this team and they won the championship with her, on her rookie season, where she won Rookie of the Year honors.
Never cared for Dennis, but sounds like this daughter had good direction in her life. Good for her

Who gives a shit what people think of him ? Jett likes him for whatever reason and I doubt Rodman was paid to show up in the heat at planet Pala. Why can't people just let things be for whatever reason.
You don't think Rodman was paid to show up at Pala? Go watch the Weege show after the race...the Aussie guy (not sure if he's a fixer, manfriend, manager, or what) that helps the Lawrence bros paid for the Worm appearance. No way a dude like that just rolls up and sweats his balls off for free just because Jett is starstruck...

BTW, I find Rodman pretty distasteful as far as the way he lives his life, but he was an absolute animal on the court at both Detroit and Chicago. Humans have this weird habit of "needing" to put everyone in a nice, neat little box with a label, but real people are an eclectic mix of good, bad, weird, et al. He's definitely an interesting dude....I'm a fan of his on-court stuff, not so much off the court.

Seriously surprised to hear him on a motocross race, but pretty cool. Even more surprised to hear he only has 3 kids. the 30 for 30 was a great watch, and really shows that the dude was a solid guy. However, his partying and eccentricities don't exactly align with "responsible" sexual behavior.

I personally think some of these so called celebs show up at a moto event as an attempt to stay relevant. Motocross takes more skill than any stick and ball sport. Furthermore, it can also be more beautiful than ballet if you actually know what to you are looking at. How many of you guys have screamed at the tv saying “sweet ass line by Tomac”, or “damn Jett railed that fucker on the balls of his feet? Then immediately hear the color commentator say, “wow, that was an awesome line by Tomac” or watch Jett through that corner next time around”. Unfortunately there are those that only see it as some thrill seeking cooks playing in the dirt. I’m not sure where to put Rodman on the spectrum tho. He could impress the hell out of me by asking Jett to let him take the RC250 for a spin around the track, all liabilities aside.

So lil' Jett is getting pearl necklaces from attention-seeking knuckledraggers?

Best keep that off youtube.

I think Dennins Rodman has been a legit moto fan for quite a while. I got to meet him at the Crusty Premire in Hollywood back in 1997 or 98...the one that got busted up by riot police. I tried to get a photo of him but he asked me not too.

I think Dennis is fairly confident in his masculinity.

Poor old Weege didn't have a clue what to do when he turned up in the booth.
