I don't see this current era as anything like the RC days. Back then in moto 2 RC would holeshot and everyone packed up and headed to their cars. It's not like that at all. The 450 battles this summer have been awesome, with Eli and Chase running neck and neck almost every moto. 450 SX was pretty exciting until the end, but I just think SX is too long of a season and does get slightly redundant. In 250s, I think injuries have hurt some of the excitement. No JMart, JCoop not being 100%, Forkner. Even Kitchen getting hurt, right as he was heating up. This whole year in 250s was just too many people getting hurt. It's still been pretty good considering that, in my opinion. I think overall the last couple years have been some of the best racing that I've seen. I really am not sure what else would have to happen to make it "not boring." Maybe you just aren't as interested in the sport.

You are not a true fan of the sport.

Football, basketball, baseball, and golf are boring to me.

I think this year Mx has been great. Washougal Jett didn't even win a moto. We've seen 1-3 scores win overalls. The last 3-4 450 rounds have pretty much been gate to checker battles between Chase and Eli.

Hear me out. A lot of the time, if not most of the time, SX and especially MX are actually really boring to watch. When you have the fastest guy riding around out front it’s basically a dog and pony show.

Yeah there are also some good “battles” and crashes from time to time, but more often it’s just the fastest rider out there riding around out front.

I’m thinking about the 250 class this year with Jett Lawrence. I understand 450 has had much better racing. But the 250 class this year brings back some serious Ricky Carmichael era vibes. The fastest rider just out front riding around and the camera doesn’t even bother showing any battles further in the pack because the lead rider is so popular.

Again, makes me question how popular “supermotocross” 40 race weekend a year schedule will be with common man
U r not wrong, but what other motorsport have you watched that its not kinda like that? Cuz Ive been noticing more and more people complaining about this lack of action in basically every motorsport championship... So then the question should be: "what one expect from motorsport?". That idea of constant Battles and intense fights appears just when you compile things. It takes a whole season for a 5 min highlights of intense battles on track.
You can find series that are more intense like Moto3 (specISH), Championship Off Road (reverse grid) and the British Touring Car series (they add weigh to the faster cars), but in MX theres nothing much one can do. And if we keep complaining, we are going to get electric MX where they will request the top riders to race on a slower engine mapping haha cheers mate

Huh? We’ve had some great racing. If you wanna talk about boring, have ya watched an F1 race where the only lead changes happen because of drivers pitting?

As for the “40 race SuperMotocross Season”: isn’t it 17, 11 & 3 for 31 races?

So, uh, no! Not boring.especially this year with Sexton & Eli going at it. Jason Winning a National…FINALLY! Grinning And, I’m pretty sure we’ve had a fairly fun to watch 250 season…?

Same same. I really do WISH the other sports interested me so I could at least stand a chance of holding a conversation with coworkers. I don't give a rip about who YOUR team is...

However, mx/sx has been awesome recently! I'm not sure what races the O.P. have been watching.

No you make a good point. I do enjoy watching a race every once and a while, but I think seeing the same 4-5 fast riders every weekend, the same story line, week in week out and year after year after year. I’ve definitely lost my love for this sport. Now that they announced an additional three races I started to get worried about losing another three Saturday nights of my year watching this garbage . But then I remembered I can just fall asleep and watch the Crash reel / summary on YouTube the next day

Our sport has a lot of nuances that someone knowledgeable can appreciate even if the racing does not have a lot of position changes, but that is lost on folks new. So, it's not boring to me, but to the uninitiated it's just a bunch of bikes on the track, which is even harder to follow if you're at a track where one can't see everything.

IMO all classes at MotoGP reliably present better actual racing, but I still prefer a motocross event.

It's "once in a while"
Now that we've gotten that outta the way, try watching foot placement on peg. Hand placement on grip. Knees on shrouds. Brain position on WFO (and off throttle too). There is so much that you're not seeing.

I would say 'compared to what'.

The US particularly has some proper dull sports , that get TV packages that MX can only dream of... NASCAR for one where the races are so fucking long, to the point where they have to pay points halfway through to make it mean anything, and a myriad of other motorised ' non sports' ( Rock bouncers FFS) ..

MX at least has a core participation group of fit and athletic participants, rather than fat old men (of which i am one) that seem to proliferate in many other powersports

Dont start me on stick and ball.. its all rubbish .

Your self admitted not even watching the races (which have been the best in years in both classes).

Cool, you have no need to come back to Vital and post anymore, This is a Moto web site for people who like racing and WTF is wrong with all the dipshits in the PNW, you are as bad as Sloan.

Parties are too boring for this guy, he's burnt out on them. He'd rather stay home and check his Rocket League, maybe order a pizza or take a nap, doesn't really matter.

I think even the most hardcore fan can agree that boring races suck. But the spectacular moments more than make up for the times where not much is happening. Unfortunately for the casual fan they just aren't into it enough to sit through those times, and that's why motocross/supercross will always be a niche sport. Well that, and the constant fucking ad breaks and drawn out race schedule.

Pointless post to get you guys riled up n going.
Be no different if I said around a bunch of fan boys.
I find baseball and football boring I'm sure there'd be a bunch of fan boys ready to disagree with me.

Sorry to disagree with the OP, I think this year's racing has been better than most recent.
Full of ups and downs.
Leaders failing in the final laps, bikes expiring.
Very entertaining.

So, you don't watch it but it sucks, and it sucks because the fastest guys are faster than the rest. Brilliant.

Hunter and Jetts battles up front has been some of the best racing we have seen in a long time.

The style, line choices, fans and the technique is a beauty to watch.

I actually rarely ever find it boring. Even if there are very few battles , I just enjoy watching super talented dudes ride a dirt bike really fast. Are some races more exciting than others?.....Yeah. I still don't regret watching one second of it though.
