About three years back had to start wearing glasses most of the time now I am all the time. It took a while to get used to them but no line trifocals work really good. My cowboy eye doctor is a team roper and his vision is similar to mine. He hooked me up with really good fitting trifocals like he ropes in, they they don’t have to wear googles.

My middle vision for lack of better terms is not bad, it’s the up lose and far off where I need help.

I typically ride without my glasses but getting to the point I would prefer to wear them. I’ve been kicking around the idea of getting OTG googles but ran across online the RX inserts. I think you can even get inserts with cheaters in the bottom like my polarizedfishing glasses I use for Tournament Bass fishing.

What little I read about OTG googles it helps to have the right kind of glasses, ones that curve back and fit your face a little tighter, along with thin frames. Would seem to make sense.

Anybody use RX inserts, OTG googles. Comments please.

Thanks Billy

I've worn glasses for about 5 years now while riding. Regular goggles work just fine for me.
I've worn 100 % strata 1&2, Scott prospects. Never had issues with either besides fogging is not ideal.

I've ridden and raced with both. I much prefer the inserts.

I wear 100% accuri(non-otg) and they fit fine over my glasses. I also tried the FMF power bomb otg goggle and those pinched my nose really bad. You can find the v1 Accuri goggles pretty cheap on EBay.

I much prefer the inserts. No pressure points, they're always in the same position, and wont get lodged in your eye if you crash.

I see you are in League City. I'm right around the corner. Is your eye doc Bruce Cline? I know him well.

Anyway before I got surgery I rode with contacts with no issues. Not sure if that's an option for you.

I have worn glasses racing since 85, my new go to is i bought some oakley wrap around and had them put in clear lenses (I also wear them on my harley at night) but I have found they stay on well and fit with any goggle, I have mostly eks brands and a few pair of fxr and 100%.

RX Inserts work amazing, highly recommend

Went from contacts, prescription changed to where I had to have glasses only, and they were impossibly for me to ride with under goggles

Inserts 100%

RX inserts are the way to go. Wore glasses before and dealt with a lot of fogging and fitment issues. Got my RX inserts from SportRX they make them specific to your goggle to help with fitment. The only downfall is if you have to toss your goggles in a race scenario you are out of luck with vision.

The contacts question. My brother wears contacts and has little to no issues. Has only had a few times where the contact has flipped or fallen out. So if you can wear contacts that is the ultimate way to go I believe.

Did one day contacts for a while.
I tend to have dry eyes so it's a bit of an inconvenience sometimes

For some reason, my prescription glasses frame never fit within my helmets (Bell/Shoei/Fox)
MX frame would fit over them over them though

Currently using Pro-Vue and happy with it
https://pro-vue.com/prescription-dirt-goggles/

Only inconvenience is as soon as i take them off i need to get my hands on my regular glasses so I'm not surrounded by a blurry world... it's a pain to have bad vision!

As other have mentioned, I've not had an issue wearing my glasses with normal goggles (100%). I've tried Oakley OTG goggles and just don't care for the way they fit inside my helmet.

I tried contacts at one time and had them come off at 2 different night races...so gave up on that.

I'd try the inserts, but I'm pretty much blind without my glasses. That would mean I'd have to have my goggles on from the very get go when I leave the pits, have them on while setting on the line and then keep them on until back in the pits as I'd be running into stuff without them! Having them on that long while not riding would probably result in fogging issues?

I've run otg goggles since day 1.... only issue is when face planting.... my glasses pealed all the skin off my nose one time... happened the day of my 10th high school reunion.... after getting my nose skin reattached at the er, I went to the reunion.... lol.... giant swollen nose... two black eyes... good times!

I tried goggle inserts and they did not work for me. My eyes seem to be sensitive to lenses with a lot of curve in them and i just couldn't get used to them.
I've also tried contacts but my eyes get very dry and if i don't blink enough the contacts become really uncomfortable and move in my eye which results in blurry button mid moto.
I've been running oakley frontline goggles for a while. They are slightly larger than air brakes and have notches in the side for the arms of glasses. That has been the best option for me.
I run 2 pairs of glasses, I have a riding pair and my everyday pair. When I bought my riding pair I took my goggles and helmet to the optometrist to make sure everything fit properly, and if I crash and break those glasses in not blind driving home

SCOTT OTG Goggles!!!!!! Have been wearing them for years over my glasses and they are awesome. I tend to have wider frames and they fit great. Also great price point so grab a few of them!

I use Scott OTG. Have had some issues with dirt getting in the sides when I'm roosted in the face. Last time I got a new prescription I also bought a pair of single vision glasses with kids frames so the bows fit really close to the side of my head. Much better for sucking roost. The reason for single vision was I was also having some balance issues on hairpin turns, had the same problem with tight switchbacks mountain biking, I was consistently falling inward on the turns. No issues now and I don't really even notice that they are single vision and not blended lenses. I've been wearing blended lenses close to twenty years now.

I tried both OTG and sport RX inserts, and couldn't deal with either one. The problem I was having was the movement. So I switched to contacts, and will never go back to riding in glasses. The glasses and inserts was so bad for me, I actually quit riding for a few years and just recently start back again because of the contacts.

Dr. Cline I’d my eye Dr. he is the best eye Dr. in this part of Texas and pretty good team roper to boot. I’m only part MX guy, the rest is full cowboy, not much difference between the two.

I live on the Friendswood side of League City. Once my knee gets better maybe we can hook up at Ultimate MX. Im 66 and have t raced in years but I still like the sport.

Or give your face lacerations. Not sure but think maybe Larry Brooks' glasses cut his face back in the day. I would never ride with glasses and have uses the Pro Vue inserts with great success.

My Pro Vue inserts didn't move at all.

Oh man... that's my fear with OTG.

Where are you people getting the inserts?
