AC/TC 222 no start money

Edited Date/Time 6/23/2022 5:09pm
Listening to the Lakewood review and Matthes says Tony is heading home because he’s getting no money from KTM! That’s pretty poor literally seeing he’s running near front and their top rider. Shame for a 9 time world champ.

They should give him AP’s money everytime he’s beating him.

Piss poor effort on their part.

They'll use his holeshot photos for adds though you watch.

So wait KTM isnt paying him a cent?

I would have thought the retired 9 time world champ on holidays in the US and hole shoting everything in sight would be worth maybe something :/

Got to think they won't let their top performing rider go. Cairoli is improving as well every race. I guess they will figure something out.

That is terrible if true. They should be ashamed. TC out there risking a lot, testing for them, getting hole shots, best performing rider (w Dunge). I get budgets, running a race team $$$ but show some damn loyalty to the guy. Everything he has done for the brand.

It would suck for him to finish out his dream to race in the US this early because of KTM.

I just came here to post about this and saw the thread.

Seriously – what in the fuck are KTM thinking?

Dude has won you how many titles? He's literally the best KTM rider in the class. He's huge with the fans. What the fuck Roger/Pitt. What a shitty move.

Yeah if true that really sucks, let's see if he gets a call from Pitt once he's back, with the offer of a 1st class plane ticket and a nice full bag of gold

By far the best performing rider of the team and as pointed out improving every race, still looks uncomfortable in some corners though, not the style I'm used to seeing. When/if he gets the bike dialled I'm confident a spot on the podium isn't out of the question.

Come on KTM, I buy your bikes so invertedly fund your race teams, and I say write Tony a nice big fat check

Between this and how they screwed over Kailub Russell, and countless other little things, it's enough to leave you with a bad taste... Like with Russell, as with Cairolli, it isn't about wins it's about giving a rider who has helped put you on the map in one area try their hand at another while being rewarded as a company with massive exposure and fan support, it's a win for both parties.

I know business is business, but it's feeling like a recurring theme of them having no loyalty to their guys, in situations like this which is a grey area where it isn't all about results and wins.

This is probably the most accurate statement that can be made.

2 and 22 in some backyard chicken stix race, while 222 is top 5 and doing big whips from holeshots on the big stage for free.
Rog isn’t scared to tell Pit how it is I hope

They seem to be very strict with their budget. Such a strange (and stupid) decision if this is what keeps Cairoli from racing more of these races.

I would understand if they would have a rider in the hunt for the title, but the fact is that Cairoli is carrying this team and is only getting better.

#2 gets paid to race. 222 should ask him for advice.

KTM - Keeping Their Money

But seriously, Decoster sounds like a real jackass now after that trackside interview saying “we need to do better.” Sounds like every manager I had at my old shit-wage jobs in high school.

Star Yamaha should put Cairoli on Ferrandis' bike for the rest of the summer. Would be like the old days of Cairoli on the Yamaha. Really don't understand some of these companies and how poorly they treat their pro riders that made history for them and on top of that, probably sold a crap ton of bikes for them. Villopoto with Kawasaki and now Cairoli with KTM. Sounds like a "Bye Felicia" type situation.

I don’t think Tony needs our money to stay.

It sucks Tony isn’t getting paid but I’m willing to bet Tony himself went to KTM and said he wanted to do a few US nationals and asked for a bike/rig/support. They gave all of that to him.

Or maybe I’m wrong and they asked Tony to do a few nationals. Either way, Tony knew what the deal was and was apparently fine with it. With how he has performed this season so far KTM should be asking him to stay and forking over a nice check (maybe they have and Tony declined?)

There are a lot of assumptions and baseless claims in this thread.

The pitchforks are out before the whole story.

No one gets start money in the US unless it's been discussed and agreed apon before hand.

222 is in the US because he wanted to ride a few rounds and KTM US is supporting him. It's safe to say that 222 is on some sort of performance bonus system.

Without doubt he will be earning $$$ but KTM won't be paying him for gate drops!

I'm hoping that the #2 donated the prize money back to the pot so the local boys made their money. Looking at those results I imagine the #22 pulled off before the finish line on the last lap.

And, Tony seems really happy to be here with his family on a “workman’s vacation” of sorts. I don’t have any facts…but I do think KTM should do all they can to make Tony happy, especially since he’s leading the team at the moment. AP isn’t doing much (and hasn’t done much), and Dungey looks like he’s still trying to figure things out.

Agreed 100%. Also to say he isn’t well enough to race the nationals but still finishes supercross

Well looks like Tony his wife posted that they're heading back to Italy in recent story on IG. Bummer i enjoyed following their usa adventure.. And weird of ktm to just let their best current rider go like that, but who knows whats at play behind the scenes..

But are they leaving before high point or after? I hope he does high point, that track would suit him. Probably better than Unadilla.
