Cairolli and Dungey are riding awesome. Best results are from these 2 older guys. Rest of the team including the 250's is a sad state of affairs. This includes Husky(except Stewart) and Gas Gas. Mossiman shows signs of greatness but he samples the dirt just about every moto. Is KTM using all their resources on MotoGP? I am not a KTM hater, been riding them since 1983.

Plessinger has not stepped up for sure, and Vohland is struggling. What have you done for me lately has to be on DeCoster's mind. Bike, programs, riders? They gotta find a way to do better for sure.

They don’t do well at retaining their younger talent either…. Makes you wonder what the strategy is. Their current stable is sorely lacking.

Why do they only have one 250 rider?
MM25 was good outdoors not sure why he isn't out there...

Um, I'm 59 and have been riding since I was 12. Hence there is a long list of injuries. One took years for me to recover confidence. But I'm not a pro, and there were/are no expectations on my performance. These guys are paid to perform, and if injury gets in the way, it's next man up. It's a business.

It’s a shame their two best riders are sitting out the summer

Getting a Daniel Ricciardo vibe from Plessinger at the moment. It’s all smiles and personality, but the results just aren’t there.

Musquin wasn't willing to ride both seasons for the money he was offered, and KTM wasn't willing to put more cash on the table.

They won 450 SX last year and just went 3, 4, 5 in the standings this year across all three platforms. They even won a 450 round and had tons of podiums.

Outdoors is looking rough right now but they are getting hella brand recognition all summer and I think that’s as important as results for what they need this summer.

I’d be shocked if by SX next year they aren’t right back there again like this year either.

For the 250 team, they did okay too. Mosiman got 3rd and won a round and RJ won a round. Pierce Brown became a consistent podium threat this year. If they could somehow program Jalek to decently hit whoops (he’s terrible at them), he’d probably be a constant podium threat when healthy.

It isn’t horrible but they are running against a huge team in star and 2 freaks in the Lawrence bros every weekend.

Is Roger stoked, probably not. But it isn’t a horrible year.

Not sure I buy that comparison.
Put Ricciardo in a Red Bull and I bet he’s fine.
Put Tomac on the KTM, KTM looks good.

I spoke to Marvin at Pala and he made it seem like KTM didn't have a ride available for him.... but I guess in the end it probably did come down to money and maybe he didn't like their offer. Either way it's a bummer, I would love to see Marvin out there.

Remind me again why Webb & Musquin were just able to ask for the summer off.

Don't think that's true Kong. Marv mentioned that he wanted to do outdoors , but the team didn't want him too. Not sure their reasoning on that is , but maybe that money was spent on a gamble with AC and Dungey. There was no way they were going to Field 4 bikes in the 450 class. BUT Marv was the proven work horse in SX......why they say him out , not sure??

I'm just speculating, they never seemed to get their new 450 dialed in during the SX season, maybe they thought they would struggle for podiums with the bike and didnt want to risk injuring one of their proven SX guys during the summer program. Bring in Dungy and AC, and those guys get plenty of TV time with out being close to a podium. plus it would give them time to sort out issues with the bike, and get it ready for the next season of SX.

Plessinger maybe should switch to GNCC if moto doesn't work out. 🤔

He’s a 250 national champion. I’d say moto has worked out already.

I think KTM dropped the ball with the latest chassis design. To me it looks like the new chassis doesn't corner as good as the previous design. When you see even guys like Cairoli and Dungey struggling in the corners with the bike you know they have some setup issues.

Thus my stable is lacking comment. They have 2 guys basically SX only and 2 guys in MX that are likely 1 and done. That leaves Plessinger and Vohland on Orange outdoors. I’m a big AP fan, but that doesn’t seem like what KTM would want for outdoors.

What I find hard to believe with KTM is why one factory 250 rider that can't stay healthy? And why not have Marv in the outdoor series. Maybe the people making decisions should be replaced like factory Yamaha. Seems odd some of the decision making lately.

You can only stay on top of SX/MX so long or any sport for that matter. Eventually other riders & teams just become better. That’s what you’re seeing with Honda, Yamaha & Kawasaki with their riders & bikes. From a perspective of the sidelines it does appear they need some changes to happen soon if they want to position themselves for future success.
Just my $.02..

To answer your original question, yes the MotoGP budget has increased significantly over the past few years, draining the coffers not just for MX but enduro & rally too.

Seems like a great guy and I hate that our sport is this way, but if I were the manager of a factory team, there’s no way I’d ever sign Plessinger as a rider. Hurt all the time and when he’s not he’s “only” top ten. Which is amazing in the grand scheme of things. For a factory rider it isn’t. He’s now on year 4 (I think?) on the big bikes and has yet to show he can be a contender. That means back to the factory supported teams in my opinion.
