If only there was some sort of wooden material we could put in the ground to use as stakes.

Agreed on the metal stakes! I get the need for banners and advertising but lets use our heads a bit more Not sure why we have wooden ones right beside the track also. I know they have been used for many decades but the speeds these guys are going these days as well as how far they are jumping, the get offs are huge now compared to back in the day.

There is a plastic cap made for those T posts. They do a number on a horse, couldn't imagine if someone got one through a leg or abdomen.

There shouldn’t be any stakes by the track period. Meta, wood, plastic they will both pierce through you.

I bet the Dirt Diggers and others don't feel good about the situation. Honest mistakes are better than intentional in any outcome.

If those stakes are in the ground like that... with riders coming towards them.. Then put tuff blocks around them... Glad hes ok, as that could've easily been a catastrophe.

I was just talking to a childhood friend of mine today about the general stupidity in the decisions that are being made by the majority of the people. This is a perfect example… Metal T post next to track? Really? Stupid at best.

It seems people are not getting brighter… this is a common-sense thing. Glad he didn't get hurt worse. He could have impaled himself.

Carnard had a position like that for about 2 races and then it disappeared. Not sure if it was eliminated or if he quit because he had no authority

I am fully convinced there is no such thing as common sense these days. The wife and I were discussing that earlier today. It just doesn't exist anymore. Sad

Hit a big yellow track marker with his handle bar that didn’t move and caused his crash.

The metal stake was removed on the spot by DDNMC & track workers following the incident. Obviously there's lessons learned from every incident.

damn stakes and signage is gonna kill one of these guys eventually. why does it need to be so close to the track? how it was even put there in the first place is infuriating to me. fixing it after means nothing.

Sure. It must be the same lame brain that allows boats on the infield of a supercross race.

I would have a very difficult time getting upset about a track/promoter getting sued out of existence if he was seriously injured in that one. What a bone head move to use rebar for signage that close to the track.
