Top 10 ride. Everyone in front of him has ridden/raced/practiced on this track for years. He put tires on it the first time.... Thursday I think..could be wrong. And at 37 years old at that. I hope he stays with it...I could see podiums by the end of the season. Strictly my own opinion though...

This would be his worst track in my opinion, I really hope he races a lot more than 2. I'd love to see him ride Southwick, Unadilla, and High Point. All of them, really.

Personally I don't feel as though he will want to do all the rounds being so far off the pace. He said himself he didn't prepare much and I don't he can just race himself into that kind of shape to be competitive during the season. Really hope I'm wrong though, even if he's outside the top 5 I still love seeing him out there.

I'd be very surprised if he raced every round. He hasn't prepared for the season, the season grind will crush the novelty of this holiday.

Expect him to race a couple races, take a break, prepare and come back for the last few before the MXdN where he will want to be the best version of himself as a 37 year old with the no.1 plate for Italy.

Would be nice to see him race all 12 but I just don't see it.

Some of my euro friends like MXgeoff thought he would win. And to be fair, I always thought it was possible in a race like this at the beginning of the season with mild weather and riders still getting their bikes dialed after supercross. So I thought he would do a little better than he did and I don't buy the excuses about fitness. If he was out of shape he wouldn't have ridden better in the second moto and kept his lap times so consistent from start to finish. I think we need to recognize how damn fast Chase and Kenny were to beat everyone so easily.

Tony is the f’n man! I think he’ll improve but regardless how cool is it that a legend like him chose to do some rounds over here just for fun? Nothing but respect for one of the best to ever do it.

I appreciate him coming over for the regular MX series and am looking forward to seeing him at Hangtown next week. I’ve seen him at MXGPs at GH and Jacksonville and he is an incredible rider.

I hope he stays in the series. I'd like to meet him in the pits when I attend one of the East coast rounds.

Geoff is sensationalist, it is all about the clicks. Who knows what he really thinks!

Cairoli lacked intensity. It took him 5+ laps in both motos before he'd put in a competitive lap.

I disagree about his second moto being better. In moto 1, at least there were some signs in the last third where he was catching Tomac and Plessinger before the crash. I think the crash may have involved Tomac or when he went for the pass?

In moto 2, he was consistently average, almost like he was maybe managing his energy. No signs of any push from the halfway point, with the likes of McElrath reeling him in from way back!

Moto 1: Down 1:30 (with a crash losing 25-30 seconds)
Moto 2: Down 1.25

Expected more, as I'm sure he did. Hope Hangtown is better!

This Year is gonna be EPIC! Racing in both classes was AWESOME! BIGGEST PROBLEM was trying to get signed up with mavtvplus! KTM...wether they win or loss hit a HOME RUN! Greatest marketing strategy ever!

Rust. First gate drop since last year. He’ll improve I’m sure.

He looked pretty damn amazing IMO. And I can’t recall if it was MC or RJ that commented that this is a rare opportunity to see Cairoli race.

In his interview on Swap, he remarked that his usual suspension setup doesn't work as expected, as the frame he runs in Europe is alot stiffer.

What's the ruling on frame mods again? I thought they could add gussets to firm it up, but you can't remove material?

I thought ride was very impressive, considering how much different out tracks compared to what you see on the GP circuit. Especially something like Pala.

Not to use it is a excuse as i never had him in contention in this race. But this is the worst i have seen him on a bike ever.

Age and lack of practice has caught up with him to.

His bike looked so off that he wasnt pushing a bit. Even Dungeys bike looked bad coming down hills.

His result wasnt that bad to be honest , but Cairoli didnt look good at all , he was all over the place making little mistakes , almost like he was the one coming back from retirement after 5 years
Dungey on the other hand was the big suprise , he looked a lot better and will surely improve in next rounds
Honda squad whooped some ass today

I thought he'd be a little better tbh. I don't get me wrong I'm absolutely rooting for the guy, and before anything else it's a pleasure to see him out there. But in terms of just pure result analysis; he has only been retired a since last year (and won a GP in that season) - in comparison you wouldn't guess Ryan has been away for 5 yrs. All that said of course he doesn't know the circuit like the regulars do and I'm sure bike setup was an issue too. By no means horrendous but I would've guessed he'd be closer to knocking on a podium door (again, like Ryan was) rather than 6 -7 th range.

I mostly agree, but let’s see what happens at Hangtown. Pala was definitely an atypical track for a GP riderWink

There were no seasons between his retirement and now. The last thing he wanted was to come race here and get smoked, so there is no doubt in my mind that he put in some work to prepare, even if it weren't as much as it was for the GPs. He had a base fitness and no recent injuries. A lot of the riders were lacking in fitness today. That's not unusual.
I saw a good performance by Cairoli. Not as good as the Cairoli of 2021 (who was getting podiums and some wins in mxgp), but not that far off. He wouldn't race these events without being ready and he would not give it a half hearted effort with so many eyes on him and so much pride on the line.
I thought his results were impressive considering the circumstances and being on a track new to him. I also believe it shows how fuggin fast ama riders are. And....Dungey is straight gangster.

I laughed at this, cos i was gonna say the same.

Nobody expected him to win, top 5 at best.

He is an old guy on holiday.
