I’d prefer Dungey over RC though.

I would imagine it would be a lot of pressure riding for Ricky. Similar to playing on Lebron’s team.

Yeah like Alec Baldwin's Always Be Closing speech. LOL Seiously people who think the issue with Team USA will increase their chances of win with a new team manager are letting their emotions get the best of them.

Emotions? Not sure if you're referring to me but I'm certainly not emotional, this doesn't affect my life in the slightest. But on the outside looking in I see a laundry list of problems with the team from the riders to the atmosphere to the general apathy of the industry toward the event. If this were any other business, it would be addressed by a change in leadership. Maybe RC is the guy, maybe not. But status quo is not the answer. Just ask Yamaha.

"Oh, man! You guys have a lot of wood to chop. You are in perfect position, but this is a must situation!

Certainly, you guys are in a good spot with those long legs, but without momen-tum, it is not gonna end well. It's time race in front of you, stay focused, and make it happen. Make no mistake about it, we have a lot of confidence, but we need to hit our lines and find the comfortability. Lemme tell ya, this is gonna be in-r-esting, and it's key here that we find our flow. Anything can happen. We don't wanna play into their hands and put them in the catbird's seat.

Just A LIIIITTLE BIT short, and it will force the issue. We will be on the outside looking in."

Except there have been times in the recent past that fast dudes (Tomac) weren't allowed to go by their team because Decoster was the Manager....

Sure, Decoster has had a great career but he's a little overrated....he's like Aldon, turning champions into champions makes you look better at your job than you are.....
Signs Dungey out of the B class and he goes on to a historic career.

Where do you get that Tomac wasn't allowed to go because of DeCoster?

The biggest problem is a lack of commitment form U.S. riders plain and simple.

Roger mentioned on the Whiskey Throttle show that he WANTS the team pitting together, meals together and same hotel. I guess manufacturers have the final say where they want to pit their bikes. All the brands need to drop the bullshit and really team up.

I'm not a betting man anymore but if I were, I'd lay odds that a majority of you are the same people that were harping for a points reset when Dungey was sewing up sx titles early. Funny how there's been no mention of it this year.

Some of you make it sound like the whole pitting thing is a US only deal. But still all the other big countrys with riders that have factory support is in the same situation and manage to pull it off.

Im with Sloan on this. This is a rider problem for you guys, nothing else. And instead of looking at who the best rider in the US nationals is, you should look for the rider who is best suited for the given conditions.

It doesen’t matter how fast you are on a perfectly groomed US track if the race are in a rainy England in september. There is like 101% chance of rain there then so send your best mud rider.

If it is a hard packed track in germany, send the rider with the smoothest riding style that have the best chance to adapt to that kind of track.

If you want to beat the best europeans, you need to look at the riders, not the manager when it comes to overall performance.

At red bud you could hear all the american riders reving the shit out of their bikes and riding around one gear lower than the MXGP guys.

I would look at riders like AC or Sexton that have the ”new” generation of riding style, that rides smoother and more down low as the MXGP riders do, that kind of rider will have a better chance to adapt to most of the MXDN tracks around the world.

And yes, i know that both of them hit the ground, but as the riding style goes they are more european looking than Tomac and Barcia.

Craig on a 250 and AC / Sexton on big bikes could be a interesting line up.

I don’t see anyone question the riders that have been picked, just some BS about money and pitting.

Your logic doesn’t make much sense when you consider that both Barcia and Tomac’s worst performances at the MXdN were at Red Bud in 2018.

And yet you are scratching your heads about the lack of results. Each year you loose, you aint getting closer to a win. What Barcia and Tomac did almost ten years ago is not relevant today.

As a european and a big fan of the sport, following both MXGP, SX and Nationals it’s easy to see that the overly agressive US riders struggle at the european circuits against the european riders now days. So i would send the less agressive riders that ride in a simular way to the event.

AND make sure that they have the same passion for it like Zacho that went over a month before the event in Assen and did what he and Anderson could to be as prepared as possible.

Regardless of how long ago it was, those guys have proven they can get decent results at the MXdN on European tracks. Whereas AC and Sexton have barely shown they can stay on the bike for more than a race at a time.

By the way, I’m not American, it isn’t “us losing”. My country will likely never have a shot at winning.

Is compensation for an MXDN coach(es) a factor? Does the US pay? Other countries?
A strong list of an eventual replacement of Roger if RC doesn't want the gig.

The biggest issue facing our "team", especially n 2018, has been that there's no team atmosphere. If nothing changes, Tomac will be in the Yamaha semi, Anderson in the Kawi rig and Hampshire will be in the Husky truck. Meanwhile France will come over, rent some RVs, pit together, and kick our asses again.

Exactly it needs to be a team thing. They need to all be under the same rig. And give anyone else a shot for manager. I think will Hahn would be good if you go young.

I’m sure most of you are familiar with Mr. Carmichael’s resume’, but anyway; Multi-time American Motocross & Supercross champion AND three-time MXDN winner. Currently an announcer and, terrific ambassador for our sport. The last time America won the MXDN (“MXON” if you like), was 2011. Then, seconds and thirds until 2017, when we finished ninth, yes 9th ! 2018, we got fifth (5th) at Red Bud, home country on America’s track. This cannot happen again. 25 September 2022- the MXDN is back at Red Bud and - we need a fresh outlook and a new manager, that man for the job, is Ricky Carmichael. *Here’s what happens if we, the fans, do nothing; come late August, random dude at AMA HQ pulls a clipboard off the wall and says “Hey, MXDN is in a few weeks, I need to call Roger !” While we ALL have the utmost respect and admiration for The MAN, Mr. DeCoster, it’s desperately (overdue) time for a change. Let’s make this happen, Ricky Carmichael for 2022 MXDN Team Manager. And NO MORE Fifth Places !!!!

“If you always do what you always did, you will always get what you always got.”

― Albert Einstein

RdC is the man with a very illustrious career - both on and off the track. By suggesting a change might be in order in no way diminishes that or takes away from any of his accomplishments. Nor is it disrespectful.

What does it hurt to try it for a year or two? Personally, I'd like to see Payton give it a go. Maybe Rog would benefit coming back into the position after a break...

.....and yes, I joined just to post that /\.

Nothing like turning our back on the man thats been there for the team for that last several decades. Sorry, but the manager has nothing to do with our results. We simply do not have the fastest outdoor riders anymore. Trying to point the finger at a person who has stepped up over the last several decades and fully devoted himself to the effort is down right disturbing.

Ricky is of course a great person for the job but I think we can wait till the current manager, who has done an incredible job is tired of, or simply cannot perform his duties (this post may start that process, Im afraid since it would piss me off for the lack of support).

Decoster has a son that is a United States Marine, questioning his patriotism is down right stupid and only done by people with complete ignorance of "The Man" and his history in this country.

I vote we keep supporting the person who has done the job, and done it INCREDIBLY WELL for the last several decades. And when he is ready to retire, then maybe ask Ricky if he is interested

DeCoster is NOT the problem. He should remain on the Team as long as he wants to be there. Period.

But DeCoster is also NOT the solution right now to bring a Team USA win. We need someone new to bring excitement to the team riders and get them fired up.

Roger is old. You get tired. He has done it so many times there is no way he can motivate the riders as RC or RJ could.

Eli, Anderson, and Craig. Roger can put someone as their 'coach' that will fire them up. Probably RJ would be the best choice to do that. The problem is the top riders don't care enough about it anymore.

Have any USA riders expressed personal interest in being on the home soil team? If not, that’s the problem. I hope Tomac, Anderson and Amart step up for our country. Last time I checked the team manager does not race the event.

Tomac has said many times he wants redemption at the event.
