Im actually a huge Lawrence bros fan. Their story is amazing from how they made it to America. Buttttttt sx is just ramming jett down every single persons throat every weekend has made the program borderline unwatchable. They are so focused on jett they miss some good races and big moments everyweek. In my opinion its making the broadcast pretty mediocre

Hubbard, Beat, Allen, Christien (and now Wood again) are ruining the show. To the point that I no longer watch the events live. That way I can FF thru the BS and mute the blathering idiocy that is pushed on us over the actual racing.

....but I will agree that there is an over-saturation of Jett.

I wouldn’t say unwatchable, but they’re definitely making Jett the star of the show. He’s a likable kid with tons of talent.

My reason for saying unwatchable is the broadcast has pushed aside some good races and stories to focus on jett. Phils second place ride last week and catching rj was a good one, or how about the battle for third between chiz and Oldenburg. They completely missed craig going down when he was behind hunter last night. Plus they have said some wild shit about jett. Second race of the year we are asking if he is going to sweep all the races? Come on he won the opener and they completely discredited the entire field in the second round.

There has been a number of races where he has crashed at the 1st turn and instead of the broadcast focusing on the race they focus on Jett picking his bike up. To not show the first few corners on TV really pisses me off as it's the most exciting bit of the race. But yeah how they have blown so much smoke up Jett and Craig's arses this year, so much hype for guys that haven't won a supercross title yet. Playing the same segment on race day live and then afew hours later again on the night show and then playing it again the next weekend. Why has Craig's wife got so much air time?

If Jett doesn’t get the hole shot just know you’re going to miss any other racing until Jett gets into the lead.

Gotta love how when Jett went last to first in a heat race against a bunch of mediocre riders, everyone acted like it was the single greatest SX performance of all time. But Forkner goes from 21st to 1st yesterday against a much better field of riders and nobody bats an eye.

I said this before. They are going to ruin the kid. People have a short attention span. The moto media has made Jett the flavor of the month and will ride that horse right into the ground. They’ll chew him up and spit him out when his popularity fades.

You are a huge fan but are getting sick of hearing about them?

He's the points leader and usually the fastest guy on track. He's also a great personality and a TV producers dream because of his mainstream appeal. I bet a lot of young people tune in just to see Jett. Quite frankly it'd be weird if they didn't give him a lot of airtime.

I hear you.
But, He's proved himself now as a notable, lets just remember he's currently a 250 guy though..

What got up my nose was twelve months ago- he'd crashed out of SX and hadn't yet won his outdoor championship, but the hype was HUGE! It was kinda disrespectful to the others, despite what 'potential' could be seen.

Exactly.

I cant' tell you how annoying the "donut" thing got for me.

That annoyance has nothing to do with Jett at all.

However....I hope all that fawning/hype doesn't go to his head. Forkner was a good example before he got knocked off his high horse.

Apparently the hype was warranted as he delivered a 250 mx title and is pretty damn close to that sx title.

If SX wants to hype up the Lawrence bros then I'm here for it. Who else is bringing the excitement to SX nowadays? Everyone is a sponsor listing robot.

The crowd in Atlanta cheered more for Jett than anybody all day.

And now he’s a champion, for sure, shout loudly about him, he deserves it.

Now get him on a 450- I wanna see the best guys battle. There’s nothing left on 250s for Jett.

Jett is young and has exceptional qualities and abilities. He also learns quick. He stands out on the podium, he's different....it's refreshing for everyone.

One can compare him to a young Valentino Rossi. Rossi and his victory skits...the fans fell in love with his personality, much like what is happening with Jett.

"In these twenty years of his career, Valentino was the center of attention for how he celebrated his wins on the track, and that involved his fan club for the occasionose: “Those were gags that people liked a lot," he recalled. "We made motorcycling known to grandparents and children and to all those who perhaps weren't fans. Those skits were successful because they were natural, since it took away the seriousness of taking yourself seriously, which maybe sometimes reigns in sports. It was just to have a laugh.

My brother and I were in the pits in Atlanta and the amount of people surrounding the rig to catch a glimpse of Jett was insane. Girls were going nuts.

I agree the coverage may be a little biased but the dude is a superstar. I think its pretty cool and well deserved.

SX is desperate for a star, someone that can transcend the sport and bring in new advertisers and marketers. Jet is the only guy that can do that for SX right now, he could be the face of the sport for the next 10 years. Let the marketers do their thing, bring new money into the sport in the form of sponsors, and eventually a rival to Jet will emerge, and the racing will be better then ever.

This. A rising tide lifts all ships. If he brings mainstream media along like Jeremy did in the 90s then that’s a win for our industry and all the other riders in his class.

There is also plenty of parity between the 250 and 450 classes skill-wise. He is winning titles, but he isn’t sweeping every race. Other riders beat him. It’s going to always happen and if more fans tune in to see Jett win, they’ll be seeing new faces to follow when he loses.

We were at Ironman last year when Jett was battling JMart (until JMart crashed out). You could always tell where Jett was on the track because 1) no one holds the throttle on like he does, and (mainly), 2) the crowd was roaring every time he went by. Reminds me of the early Hannah days.

I like Wil Christien, because you know every time she starts talking, something good is going to happen on the track.

I agree he is the face of the NXT GEN, but I am also super annoyed that we have to watch him pick his bike up and straighten his levers while the most exciting part of the race is going on off screen...that's never good tv

Imagine a hyped up college football player falling down on the opening kickoff and instead of watching the ball they look at the great player getting up off the ground...doesn't make any sense.

between that and the announcers who have never thrown a leg over a bike...i'm glad i watch the races on replay so I can fast forward to avoid that garbage.

He's the points leader. It makes sense that they move the camera on him if he goes down. It could be a simple tip over or something major that changes the outcome of the championship.

It would be the same thing if a different rider was leading the championship. It's not just because he's Jett Lawrence.

What outside marketing and sponsors has Jett brought into the sport? I keep hearing how he is doing that and how he can “grow the sport” better than anyone but how exactly is that happening?

But they did the same thing when Marvin went down . We got to watch him pulling on his glove lol
