Scottie was a hell of a guy. Always loved chatting with him over the years. Back when it was really hard to watch MX and SX up here, he would burn all of the races on CD's and send me care packages with all the races on them and wouldn't take anything for the postage or the CD's for the longest time.

Very sad news.

Didn't know him that well but I always liked his posts here.
I just talked with him about Alice in chains in non moto like a week ago. He knew his music.

RIP OCScottie.

When it comes to bench racing there are a few big names on the forum that I always pay attention too and of course he is one of them. Insight, humor, good fun he was just an awesome all around guy from just interacting with him on Vital. Definitely will not be the same with out his posts on Saturday.

I don't know how to tags folks on here but @gd2 it would be awesome if he got the holeshot this weekend!

What a heavy read.
At least Scottie is now finally at peace.
He had a lot of support here.

RIP OC, never met him but he always seemed like the type of guy you would want around the camp fire. The guy was moto to the core. You could always tell his stoke levels during race day were through the roof.

This brings back memories. Like many of you I met Scotty racing MCM2 back in 2000. Back then I was only 15 and Scotty had been in a chair as long as I had been alive which was and still is tough to comprehend. That was 22 years ago. I just hope the pain is over and he's at peace now.
Scotty was a fierce competitor on 2 wheels, 4 wheels or online gaming. We literally spent hours trading hotlaps.
I wanted to post an MCM2 picture but couldn't find one with Scotty. Best I could do is this. I'm sure clappedout will recognize the track.

RIP OC

This thread is a testament to the impact OC Scottie had on Vital and the close-knit MX community. Did he have a favorite MX event or course? Maybe we could start a petition to name a section of track after him. He might like that.

WFO, Scottie!

Rest in peace Scottie! Had the pleasure to shoot some PM's back and forth many years ago now, i am happy to have interacted with you. I allways loved coming here during race nights and hang out in the race discussions that he ran so greatly! I hope you are free from pain wherever you are now.

Wow, this is by far the heaviest post/thread we've ever seen here on Vital!

Yes there has been lots of posts about people passing and its always sad but damn, this one is gnarly. I didnt know OC Scootie personally, didnt know his back story but knew him as a legend on here. We had exchanged some messages here on Vital and i know he was a Moto XXX fan but looking here to see all the people commenting, its pretty impressive the mark/impression he left on everyone wether you knew him personally or not. He went on his own terms so gotta respect that with the pain he explained he was in. Pretty crazy how this post managed to get me a lil teary eyed as well. Life is a trip...Respect to all living life in a chair. One of my best friends @russ_on_wheelz (on Instagram) is a quadreplegic and one of the most positive people i know. Follow him for his daily motivational posts.

Condolences to Scotties family, friends and moto heads...RIP OCS

...................I don't get on here much as you can see by my post count but yesterday I did.........and was crushed to see, the first thing, that Scott had past. My heart truly sank to the pit of my stomach. Scottie lived 9 away from my parents and before and after his accident we were friends, kind of like a big brother little brother. I was racing as was he and he would come down to talk and watch me work on my bikes, I was working at Fox so I got him out of that JT stuff so I could "associate" with him. Anyways I got to know his dad, mom and brother, good people that were always there and very supportive. I'm 9 years older so he was 13/14 when we first meet so it was the love of moto that brought us together and gave us common ground. After the accident, maybe a year and half, two years we kind of lost contact, he and his family (I'm not 100% sure) I believe had to move due to Scott's medical bills pilling up. His mom had told me at one point that their insurance company had contacted them and told them the no longer had insurance ............. they had run out, used it all up ! That's right after all the years of dad and mom paying into insurance and maybe using a couple percent of what they had paid into it over the years the pulled the rug right out from under them ! No more insurance, they were forced into doing what they had to do to survive..........like sue Hollister/State of California. This is around the time we lost touch, I was engaged and moved out of the area into my first house. So fast forward almost 30 years and I find Scottie through VitalMX !!!! We started talking and I made plans to go up and see him in Redding, the family and I were going to Lake Shasta for a family reunion so I told Scott I'm comin by..............kind of at the last minute he called and said he couldn't meet, I was completely bummed but understood. We talked off an on over the last 4-5 years mostly email but it was nice to reconnect with the little kid down the street ! One of the more funny, maybe not ! stories we had was that after he was hurt we both got into R/C cars, he was still figuring things out. My parents backyard had a 30x15 above ground pool that my dad had taken down, perfect for a R/C track ! and mind you these weren't your current ready to run R/C's we had to build them, every last nut and little bolt ! Anyways were running them in the yard and he keeps flippin his car........well guess who has to upright it each time ! Well after what seemed like the 100th time of turning over his car he just looks at me (and jokingly of course) says " just flip the car and be quiet dumb ass !! " This coming from my quiet little Scottie ?? I was in shock hahaha, So we run the cars for a while, we have extra batteries so we can keep going, well his car breaks so I bring it to him and he sets it down. We start talking and a little time goes by and I look at him, "did you fart or shit your pants?" he says not me must be you, dog smells his own butt first ! Well maybe a second or two and we both realize .................. its his legs ! He sat the car on his legs ! and the car motors and batteries were HOT !!! It blistered one leg but the other came out fine haha After some burn ointment and a little gauze he was good.......but I did look him in the eye..........dumb ass !!!! LOVE YA SCOTTIE wish we could have connected that time, always talked about ya and thought about ya and I always will.

Rest In Peace Scottie. I always thought his avatar logo was so rad. I'm honored to run it, and if someone had stickers made I would happily buy some.

Another heavy day brought a bit of a realization.

Ken Roczen. Seb Vettel. Klay Thompson & Steph Curry. Likely way more I'm not thinking about or don't know about.

All just lost their number 1 fan.

What about shirts? I'd rather have a shirt than a sticker.

I only knew OC Scottie from this forum but could tell just from his posts that he was a cool guy. He was alot more active when I was first got on here like 7 years ago and I remember hearing one reply in particular in which he talked about his pain and how he was dealing with it so I looked up his story on here entitled " The Day that Changed my Life Forever" and was blown away not only by the story but by how good of a writer he was and how clearly he remembered every single detail as clear as it was happening to him right that moment. Today when searching his profile I read somewhere that he remembered that entire weekend in incredible detail just as he described in his story. If you guys wanna check out some of his photos here is a link to save you some searching time: https://www.vitalmx.com/photos/member/Pics-of-Me,35422/On-my-dads-Husky…

and he also has some rare moto videos on his youtube page here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCfalO0c3ZGlZ1ecUPY-
but unfortunately no riding videos of himself but he did have a pretty impressive video that showed how his dog could sneeze on command lol. Rest in Peace my Moto Brother!
