Started this build in October of 2024, and finished it in may of 2026. I’ve spent months finding the real parts from the team and honestly pretty proud of how far I got. Theres a couple missing pieces I’d like to have but this is as close as you can get to the real deal in 2026! (Used these pegs because it’ll be on display, don’t need anything sharp!) Parts list of real parts: Nicks Weys used 2001 seat, Last ever brand new factory Yamaha clutch perch, Gytr billet factory Yamaha levers, DSP carbon all around including a Jeremy McGrath...

I agree, but I still think the 95 is the best looking CR. I can't decide between a stock '94, Henry '94, a HoT '95 or a stock '95. I recently rebuilt my childhood riding buddy’s '94 RM and went stock (I never liked any of the factory or aftermarket kits for the RM anyway), so a stock '94 would be cool. The day we brought it home. Me on the YZ and my buddy on the RM, at Good Times, probably in ‘95 or ‘96. Back together again. All freshened up.

So, against by better judgment, I’m going to polish this turd to build my 12 year old self’s ultimate ‘94 CR125. When I was a kid, the 94 125 shootout in Dirtbike is what gave me the bug. I’ve wanted one forever. This started as a budget build, but I’ve been modifying my plans a bit. So far, the frame and engine are the only salvageable bits. Everything else sucks. This thing is all kinds of beat, but the frame is straight and the cases are intact. I have a question for those in the know…does anyone have any pictures...

Even though I was busy on other projects, I was busy collecting parts for this build. Graphics, seat cover, color correct plastics, correct air box all showed up and found there way into the cabinet. One of the biggest challenges to get this build right would be finding the Pro Circuit ignition cover. I reached out to Chuck Davies in the UK, who in my opinion sets the bar for the rest of us who restore these old 2 strokes, and I was in luck. More progress done on the '87 YZ250. My first attempt at powder coating. It came out amazing! I'm very happy with the results. I had a few tiny issues though. The bottom steering stem plug that I made fell out during the cure and landed right in front of a heat gun. It started to smoke so I panicked and opened the oven up to get it out. Then the sides of the oven started to fold inward and they rubbed the powder off of the edges of the footpeg mounts. Next time I will build a slightly wider oven...
