7/12/2026 5:42pm Got overwhelmed with the engine and need to get everything organized first. I did figure out the shock lowering and went with 13mm based on my measurements. The seat pan was a disaster. I had to hammer the staples to dust since they were so rusty.

7/9/2026 5:44pm Same happened to me when looking for a Pro-Circuit KX500 silencer with the earlier style end cap. Lots of websites using the earlier photo of the silencer, but selling the current (fugly) version.

7/8/2026 6:24pm Little bit of progress. Got the 94 stem into the CRF clamps and everything fits. I hope to build the engine this weekend.

6/27/2026 8:29am After years of searching I finally got my hands of a HRC shorty silencer. Consistency finally paid off.
Here fitted on the bike.
Have been cleaning the caliber as well, and gave it some good old elbow grease.
I am finally getting there, only few bits and pieces missing.

6/27/2026 8:24am It's now time for a short update on my project. It has been a while, but I hope you will find this post interesting👍🏻
I found a new original HRC exhaust, E7HS, with the part number sticker still on there. It was heavily rusted from laying in the shelf for many years but managed to get it in as-new condition again!
Engine with the pipe in place.
The frame are now complete and clean after have been hydroblasted.

5/21/2026 4:54pm That's a thought. I knew they made lowering kits for forks, but I didn't know about shocks. I just sent them an email. Thanks. Edit- Jeff at Race Tech figured out the shim stack needed to get the correct ride height. Thanks again for the idea.

5/18/2026 4:31pm Thanks for that…yes, I’ve seen that table. It looks like the 96’s length is 9.5mm longer, and thx stroke is 7.5mm longer. Both shock bodies look identical in length, and I think the added length is the piston shaft. 9.5mm doesn’t seem like a lot, but I’m sure the linkage acts like a multiplier. I’ll try the 96 shock first...

5/15/2026 2:40pm I found a very clean, unmolested shock from a 96 CR125, and although the bodies look identical in length, the 96 has a slightly longer shaft. I’ve read that you can run the 96 shock, but the rear is going to be about 1” taller.

5/15/2026 2:42pm I think I’ve got most of the parts in. I’ve got the forks, tress and front hub from an 07 CRF. I messed up by trying to fill some gouges with the TIG, and it left some discolored spots. Shout of to KSR for the bitchin deal. The 94 shock has a little spot of corrosion…bummer. Fresh from vapor blast...

4/25/2026 12:38pm Not much other than acquiring parts, but I’m trying to figure out the forks. I have a set of 47mm forks from an ‘07 CRF250r, ‘06 CRF triple clamps, 07’ CRF hub, and CRF front brake assy. I’m assuming I use the CRF clamps, but I’ll be swapping the stem from the ‘94 CRF clamps? Also, does anyone know what...

4/9/2026 8:02am Hey Perky! I hope your build goes really well and you get the bike restored in a way that will make all your wildest dreams come true! 🤪 My brother and I had em and we LOVED them! I had a 98 & 99 400, a 2000 & two 2002 426’s and they were all fun/fast bikes, once you got the feel for the thumper and came to terms with the compression braking! (First pic is my brother & I, amateur Sunday, AMA Arenacross @ Lazy E Arena, Guthrie Oklahoma. Second two are me, then my brother, on different jumps...

4/9/2026 8:01am I would remove all other engine mounting bolts and linkage from swing arm…lay bike on side and soak swingarm bolt with Kroll and/ or PBblaster,…wd-40 is not an effective lubricant for frozen bolts….you can also make a mixture of acetone and ATF…..Be patient…soak each side, laying bike on its side…you want to try and save the bolt, and keep the hammering to a minimum….after soaking for a few days on each side, then try heating the bolt, engine casing/ collars, use a long tapered punch that fits inside the bolt, use large hammer….

4/7/2026 7:21pm I think I might be with your son on this, that purple frame would look very unique and a head turner. There's tons of old stock builds, that '95 HOT look would be an incredible sight in the pits.

4/7/2026 7:20pm Wow, that bike was rough. That has to be one of the worst clutch baskets I've ever seen. Great start to bringing the old girl back to life! The cases etc look great. Looking forward to seeing it progress
