Tell me about 100%

I was listening to the Whiskey Throttle Show with Bevo Forti and he was telling about how the owner of 100% is always willing to help with riders, specifically Doug Henry.

I've seen 100% stickers and on jerseys for years and years but really know nothing about the company. Is it still privately owned? When was it created and what did they originally sell?

I've always been an Oakley guy but would be willing to give my money to another company if they're not a corporation like Oakley has been for a while now.

That horrendous commercial during the SX broadcast is reason enough to leave Oakley.

100% has fantastic customer service in my experience.

I thought the original 100% was started by Drew Lien ? Spelling? Who took his own life? I could be completely wrong….

Pretty sure you are correct. Started out with pre-cut numbers.

You’re right, Drew Lien. He was a hell of a guy who ended up trusting the wrong people.

He didn’t deserve how it went down for him.

100% is Ludo's current venture after they sold One Industries to a venture capital firm, who promptly flew that brand straight into the ground and left nothing but a smoking hole..

Happy for his success with 100 percent, but such a shame about what happened to One.

I used to live next to their HQ in Carmel Mountain Ranch and it was a wonder to walk into the giant warehouse and see all the new stuff going on, for motocross guys it was like a kid visiting Santa's workshop.

I still have some Bailey Replica JT style helmets from them somewhere...

I was a dedicated Oakley Airbrake wearer until someone recently gave me a pair of 100% Armega's. I'm about to put all of my Airbrake's in the For Sale Forum now. Aside from the Armega's being a better goggle (for me) I like the way that 100% supports the sport at the amateur level.

Brent, maybe you shouldn't forget about Marc, one of the most talented moto stuff designers ever.

Is this the same 100% that made numbers and backgrounds back in the 90s?

Pain to find tear offs and lenses in the local shops as most stock racecraft, but the Armegas are such a comfortable goggle with fantastic visibility.

I love my racecraft, the price-quality ratio is awesome. Might try some armegas but just haven’t yet because the racecraft fit my face and 6D so perfectly

The armegas are pricey, but after wearing them I can’t go back to the racecrafts… the Armegas are awesome goggles

I’ve been going back and forth between air brakes and armegas..At first the 100%’s were too tight in my 6d even with the strap all the way loose. Would put too much pressure on my face. Been wearing them for practice and they have broken in a bit. Raced in them today and they were pretty comfortable. Going to get another pair..

Ludo owns 100% now and he's a great guy! He brings his family to my business to ride and he always donates goggles, gear, whatever he can to pay me back

Appreciate all the responses. Looks like I'll be trying 100% in some manner.

Can anyone who owns Armegas and Airbrakes chime in on the differences between the two? I own a set of Airbrakes and from the marketing I've seen of the Armegas it seems like they'd be a better goggle for me but I've never bought a pair because I haven't come across any good deals on them but I've bought other premium goggles that I've found good deals on.

I have a problem with buying way too many goggles but the Armegas do sound really good and I'd like to hear what they're like compared to the Airbrake. Also curious about the Leatt goggles.

100% numbers were huge in the early '90's taking over from the old style Dirt Digits

this won't be a popular reply for this thread, but i wear both, and still like my airbrakes better. Understand, i really like Armegas, but for me the fit is slightly better with my airbrakes... I still am going to buy a couple more pair of Armegas, but my airbrakes are still my first choice. The seal up to my 6D's better around my forehead, and cheeks.

Any old guy loves 100%., the brand was iconic in the 80s and 90s for numbers and number plate backgrounds. They are kind of a 'pure moto' company that doesn't feel like Fox or Oakley. Support 'em.

Sending Ronnie Mac a cease and desist notice for his 69% goggles was a bit of a turn off for me

No, and yes.

Same brand, resurrected by the current owners after buying the rights.

The best thing about them is that the tear offs are all pretty universal. And they have cool color combinations and the quality holds up for the price no matter the tier you buy.

I was pretty pissed with my last pair of 100% goggles. I ordered a pair of Accuri 2 OTG goggles from RMATV and they fit horribly. I was going to call up and complain but then noticed that they were actually plain Accuri 2 standard size goggles, so then I was pissed off at RMATV for sending me the wrong stuff. Later that day I looked up my RMATV purchases and my confirmation emails, and it turned out that I had indeed ordered the wrong goggles.....

So now I am just made at myself!

I like the quality of the Accuri 2s, but will be ordering the OTG size very soon. I just need a larger goggle frame. But the overall comfort of these is pretty good and the photogray lenses react very quickly to the change in light, so that's encouraging.
