The really positive thing is that he has a 2 year contract. There can be a tendency for some riders to not be as ‘motivated’ until the last year of a contract, but that certainly doesn’t seem to be a problem with Malcolm this year.

I could see him winning a main this year, but if he can stay healthy through the Nationals and have similar success, I could see him competing for a title in SX next year.

Mookie has come a long, long way from the little brother labeled as crazy talented but lacking the work ethic to make it happen (I’m not saying that, just what people used to say.) This year he’s a legit threat for podiums and possible race wins against a very strong field. You love to see it. I’m a fan!

Mookie has as good a chance as anyone out there to be able to win a championship, this year he has passed many factory riders on his way to the front. "immature for what he did at Daytona" hell I'm 63 and I'd do the same.

Tied for 2nd in the points. Two podiums. He has only finished outside the top 5 twice in 10 races. I predict more podiums coming and probably a win. He started off the season with a hurt foot and a bike that wasn't dialed in/set up to his liking. I think he is only going to get faster and better as the season goes on.

Big James said on occasion that Mookie was more talented than James, but not as driven about MX. James was simply so driven at a young age and developed his skills to the elite level (and beyond) at such a young age. Mookie was not as into it...and it took him a while to be all in on his dirt bike career.

lol Ok guy.

Only on the internet would some guy assert he knows more about two brothers than the father.

Wow it so impressive that simply by watching them on TV you know more about their strengths, weaknesses, personality and talent than the man who was their coach for their entire riding careers. And who also happens to be their father. LOL

My least favorite rider in the field, as far as his riding tactics go.
But I bet he'd be awesome to spend a day fishing with.

Grow up, boy.

When he gets his first SX win he will get that confidence of knowing he can win. Cool and then its on.

Jason isn't the only one he's cut down on this year when he's about to be passed.
Or out right torpedoed over the years.

The guy is soooo close to being a consistent winner.
Just needs to reign in those reactionary moments.

It's still crazy to me that a guy with his ability just got his first full-time factory 450 ride last season.

Ability and desire are different, he has always had the ability but now it seems he has the desire also and you can tell because he is lean and mean now and not fading like in the past. I would love to see him start knocking off some wins
Cool

Sure, but even when his fitness was questionable and he was fading heavily (say, during his JGR fill-in), he was still securing top-10s regularly... And with a clear path to better results when you looked at what he needed.

I kinda buy the narrative that was floating around at the time that teams didnt want to deal with the distraction presented by Big James.

For those concerned with Malcolm's "cut down" moves, remember that the guy in front gets to go wherever he chooses on the track. It is not his job to make sure the guy behind him is happy with his line choices.

Oh ffs…I’ve never heard of anyone having issues with him that didn’t also seem to have issues with other riders constantly. I want to ask why you’d say this but what’s the point? I at least hope you know him personally because calling someone you don’t even know a trash human (whose just an athlete by the way) is pretty absurd.

True, but when you’re wide in a corner and someone ducks inside you, are you still ‘in front’?

Runs in the family. They can do it all they want. Watching Stew hit the dirt from cutting under in front of Dungey or Reed didn't seem like something I'd enjoy experiencing. Tomac is pretty lenient when he feels a guy throwing it under and we rarely see him involved in incidents of the like.

I personally don't care for Malcolm much after this season. I don't have an issue with his tactics, I just have a problem with him acting like riders are out of line for attempting passes on him while he sets up these maneuvers and then retaliating as if no blame for him hitting the deck belongs on himself. Sure it's defensive, but it's still pretty aggressive. The same can be stated about cross jumping (not that I'm stating Malcolm is known for this), it's defensive but obviously aggressive. If you tow the fine line and play chicken with your competition, don't throw a hissy fit when it lands you on the dirt as well. It's just bonkers to me how he can both tackle Jason in one instance and all but ghost ride his bike into the side of a rider in another and face no repercussions for either. The only other time I saw something so blatantly egregious was Alessi on Tickle and I believe Alessi was both fined and put on probation for that. I realize Tickle took a harder soil sample but there's not much of a defense I see for Malcolm in that instance.

Why is JA on probation for an obvious attempt at a pass with a possibility for Kenny to back off and avoid crashing? I'm mostly just annoyed by the officials failing to deal with matters in a consistent fashion. Malcolm literally went off the track in 5th and entered in 3rd only to retaliate. Jason went off and entered in basically the same position on the track and they left with equal punishments. But hey, some riders appear to always catch the raw side of the AMA while other riders appear to be in a protected class in the view of the AMA.

I wonder if he wishes he actually put the effort in earlier in his career like this year cause he obviously has the talent. He missed the start of a series multiple years not through injury but not being ready ect.

Big James has been put through the ringer!!!!!
Awesome interview. Belongs in a movie about MX.
7 was so controversial with his insane talent slamming head first into the incredible RC. Best era in racing IMO. Was at Budds Creek when he showed the world what MX racing had evolved into.
Big James, always there and somehow kept a grip on it. My heart would have exploded personally. Just incredible people. I am a HUGE RC fan, was always pulling against the Stewart camp. Now I have much more perspective. Go Big James, and don't get soft on the grandsons!!!!
