I had him as a title contender coming off his 2021 MX championship. Seems like his 2021 SX season was better. I know his starts have been killing him. But seems like something else is off. I don’t think it’s the bike because Tomac has been on fire.

He just doesn’t seem like himself. Wonder if having Tomac on the team has taken some of the mojo he had.

Wonder what the outdoors will bring…

Here’s to hoping the outdoors bring a dogfight between him and Tomac.

Yeah wasn't he right around where Tomac was at the start last night ? And he didn't really move forward all that much before crashing or whatever happened to him . Definitely has been a disappointing season for him .

Like someone else mentioned, can you imagine the number of blue pig threads there would be if he was the only Yamaha rider in SX?

Ferrandis has been a big 'squirrel' this SX season...sometimes even in practice.

Maybe he is pushing too hard.

Just because one guy figured out the bike doesn’t mean another guy may be having difficulty. Two different riders….

The biggest disappointment of the season. I was really high on his chances before A1 but i was completely wrong. Sure the starts are killing him but his overall riding and racing is also not quite what i expected.

Bike can’t be that bad for him if he went ahead and resigned with star. I feel like if the bike was a huge issue he wouldn’t have resigned.

I just hope and pray he makes it through the SX series healthy so that he and Eli can go bar to bar all summer.

There was an interview about a week ago and he said he had an injury he was dealing with.

I don’t foresee him giving Tomac any issues outdoors this summer. I don’t foresee anyone giving the 3 any problems. Tomac may be about to be the oldest guy to go on a run we’ve ever seen.

I never understood the logic that because he won outdoors, he was automatically a SX contender. Why would that make sense??

Another thing, if Eli wasnt on blue now, some people would be calling to get DF off that blue pig!
(Remember that thread..?)

I’m fact, he’ll be the oldest to win a SX title if he wins this one.

Very true. MC was still in the 125 class outdoors the year of his first big bike SX title. And he wasn’t a title contender outside.

This is the reason- the huge confidence boost from being the man.... doesn't always work out, and sometimes it actually works against you because of higher pressure to perform.... but with confidence being such a big part of this sport, a rider should be a contender after winning his first big boy title

His qualifying times have been right up there so it doesn't seem to be a problem with the bike. To me it's his starts and race craft in a stacked field that are holding him back

Tomac won 3 MX titles on the Kawi. The bike wasn't holding him back last summer. He podiumed and won races.

SX is not MX. It was utterly delusional to believe that his MX title indicated he would somehow now be a contender in SX. DF is just not anywhere close to as confident and consistent in SX as he is in MX DV has said as much himself ("SX does not come easy for Dylan"...or something to that effect on PulpMX Show last year). I said this before A1 and was flamed for it. And it is not just his starts.... He is riding faster than his ability will allow...hence all the mistakes.

I know we know how well Anderson, Webb, and Sexton are doing, but any word on Ferrandis? He looked to have a shoulder injury to me.

He's got some sort of wrist injury, he didn't even crash on Saturday, just cased a quad and pulled out. At this point he should just be like Kenny and get healthy for the outdoors.

I think he already is the oldest from his 2020 title.

Eli Was the oldest to win his first 450 SX title. Right now MC is the oldest to win at something like 28 years 5 months old. Eli was 27 when he won in 2020. Turned 28 in November.

Hey I’m a Kawi guy and wish what I’m seeing wasn’t true but Eli is clearly better on the Yamaha. He rode it last summer and knew he could do better on it and we all doubted it. Many thought it was a mistake and thought he was all done. Now we’re seeing how much better he’s doing and are kinda in awe as the shock is wearing off. Unless he gets injured he is going to annihilate them outside. Not any 24-0 nonsense but I don’t think there will be any of those days where we don’t understand why Eli isn’t able to get out of 7th place. Remember how many of those we saw last summer? Then he’d win a week later. I don’t like thinking the bike was a problem but no one can deny he’s a different rider on blue.
