Thus, the project would have likely taken years longer to complete since construction only began in April 2020. Even if Keystone XL had been fully completed, the expected 830,000 barrels of oil produced per day would never have been guaranteed to all go directly to the U.S.

Why do so many Americans think the pipeline just pumped gas out of the ground that we could then put directly into our cars and bikes? For f's sake.

My only suggestion to you is to have info from multiple sources (your not) to fully understand the situation..

But the oil that would be on the keystone pipeline is still coming into the US the same way it always has, on trains until it gets to existing pipelines. The XL pipeline would have been more efficient and at a larger quantity, but it not like we completely shut the tap off. Plus the south half of keystone is up and running, I've had to work on some VFD pumping stations that go to Cushing Oklahoma, the amount of oil that passes through there on any given day is mind boggling. Crazy how the us stopping the keystone pipeline is causing fuel prices around the world to spike... Except Russia, it's like their economy is tanking or something...

Yeah I was in 3 unions at Michels pipeline I did horizontal drilling . We where not paid union wages not even close. That’s why I did stuff like asking to b in charge of our crews truck line, permits, hv a written maintenance schedule, repair equipment, etc. we hired the head of the dot, he trained me up. Get trained at 1 of there 40 warehouse shops to do repairs. I had certificates for dot inspecting and doing road side repairs, which is illegal now. Act as a ba buisness agent with union trouble makers. I had to work but I was a job site foreman. On payroll days I told them, I get a 1.00 raise today or a 1 way ticket home. A phone call is made to the bosses they ask is he worth it ? I get my 1.00 sad really how hard you had to fight to get less than 1/2 of the union prevailing wage. If I remember rt 36in or larger is main line rate, a huge pay difference. The main line guys got that the welders, helpers, operators, etc. Extremely precise operation.

Sounds like a lot of the country hitting $6 /gal right now for reg 87. I'm afraid to ask what race gas would be at.. If you love this sport, money wont matter, but i'm sure you'll ride less.

Berkshire Hathaway got a gift from the pipeline shutdown. They control the trains that transport the oil. Kinda old stats, but they charge 3 times the cost of pipelines to get the oil to the refineries. Maybe look at how much B. H. Contributed to the Biden campaign. Always follow the money.

Doesn’t sound bad when you put it that way. But it’s not always that simple.

I was gonna take a 350 mile round trip next week. At 11mpg (which is generous when I’m towing) it’s closer to $45 more with the $1.50 per gallon price jump we’ve seen in my neighborhood.

Not to mention it’s likely to go up more by then…

Not to mention EVERYTHING else related to the trip is also more expensive….

I think I’ll stay home and buy more food instead. Troubled times ahead fellas…

Along with the average 2 train derailments week from ND to the east. Trains r 1700,s tech rail maintenance is a joke. A speed limit is set on the condition of the block of rail. It can b as Low as 10mph and still they derail. The pipeline co I worked for has more hvy equipment than any co in the world. In 89 I worked a train derailment the operators had headsets on. I had to hook the 7/8 in winch lines up to rail tanks etc then 2-4 d9 dozers pulled the rail tankers threw the swamp. Tankers ripped open from the derail, haz mat pouring out. It looked like 400 space craft slammed the ground when we where done. I know you think crude oil is like oil like in your garage. But it’s actually extremely explosive and smells worse than kerosene. At 5 a gal it will cost 270.00 for a round trip to Millville.

Fri Baltimore threw dc was 7 hrs going south. Southern Va. I finally got to open it up. Then the last 200 mi in NC going to Cordova NC is was drizzling on kinda odd rds.head lights r really bad very hard to see. I got there on 2nd 14 hrs at aprox 4am. They split off on i270 , s driver said something to the slow rolling group. A old timer said you want to talk with them go up to 34. I went up to channel 34 I heard nothing special, it sounded like they didn’t know the east coast very well. The east coast drivers basically that’s what I am also talked that they don’t really seem to know what there doing but there attracking some trouble makers to follow. We basically said if you don’t know how to get there why r you going ? Nobody seemed to know.

That rolling bars Cade had nothing to do with the log jam of 7 hrs. La traffic is no where near as bad as the east. Good news def is still only 3.99 that price did not increase. Bad news the pumps only go up to 999.00 and you fill up. Close to 1,200.00 to fill up

Motel at the TA in Jessup Md. on the parking lot side you climb a lot of stairs to get into the basement level ts. The motel is above it. When the sun set back 03-06 when I delivered near there so I parked there. 150 women working the parking lot constant taxi doing drops. A lot of these women where hotter than college cheerleaders. All the drivers talking and laughing massive crazy energy on the radio. I let 3 of them solid 8,s and 9,s use my radio . The old timer next to me is yelling turn that dam lineer amp off. I,m trying to watch the dvd of the best of Elf. The 3 mostly naked chics and myself r having laughs with him. The next morning walking in there’s a few windows smashed out on trks. On fri lot security was arresting people on the property in daylight. I was in Cordova and Shelby NC I ran 221 up to i40 to get fuel, I planned to take more backroads but it was already dark and the headlights suck. There was a Mx track on 221. But I realized going threw countless towns that NC has a lot of libs. A couple NC women told me that too. I lived in Charlotte in 88 briefly under a week. Waiting around for the drug test for asplungh tree experts. I looked for a cheap room to rent like the ne or Midwest and they didn’t hv them. You had to sign a lease at apartment. I checked out the town kinda of weird there’s nothing there. I was bored so I left. I went there in a 75 Pontiac Ventura with a v6 it looks like a nova. I had to add a can of stp at every fill up prob .67 a gal. 35 mph wind NC to Mi. Today solid traffic all the way.

Just curious if this has anyone re-thinking their moto plans this year? Less travel which means attending fewer races, less practice, etc? The moto scene has been really strong for a couple of years now. Could gas prices start to reverse this?

Except it isn’t $12-$15. It’s quite a bit more than that. I’m now $165 to fill up from empty. 2020 I was $90. $75 difference and climbing. We are talking $300 per month extra right now. That’s a pretty significant difference, don’t you think?

Higher prices won't change my moto plans but they'll change my driving habits when towing the trailer to and from the track. I usually sit 10% over the speed limit, on the weekend just gone I sat pretty much at the speed limit and tried to tuck in behind other vehicles where i could. My business uses a fair bit of fuel to operate so I write all my fuel usage off anyway and I've increased my prices to cover them so it's not a major deal for me
