Other than screwing opportunities for privateers, I don’t see any negatives to the triple crowns.

Personally, I’d love to see SX modeled more with this format:

Qualifying-heat-semi-lcq-main

Hell, 2 mains just like outdoors.

The only improvement I can see that triple crowns really need is to overall the points like outdoors where each main contributes directly to points standing for the series.

Just my opinion as a fan.
I wanted to caveat what I said above with this:

If we are going to overhaul anything in supercross, can we maybe take a step back and go back to making the track resemble an indoor motocross track?

I get the logic behind not wanting to. Entertainment, unique design, way more dirt, floor space, etc.

Have massive sand rollers down the whole length, have a wide section that goes into the stands for elevation, have a banked whoop section like Millville.

I mean I can’t help but think it’s be way more of a great race to watch.

Edit - Example: 2016 monster cup

I hate triple crowns. I don’t think it makes more meaningful races, I think it makes every single race LESS meaningful. Tomac would’ve been stupid if he chose to try and beat Anderson in race 3. Guys crash out of races and get 12th but then are still able to podium based on the other finishes. Nothing like going 3-2-2 and winning the “race” for the night. The fact that any rider who watches likes it is disturbing. It’s aimed at the non riding spectators who think the highlight of the night was Forkner and Jett crashing. The racers hate it but why do anything to suit them?

How do you reward individual races, without making the week either pay way more points to the winner, or far fewer to the lower positions? I don't want a TC to be significantly more valuable than any other race weekend.

I played with an idea for points, with two goals: total points payout for the event is "similar", and max available points (winning all three races) is "similar" to winning a normal race. Overall pays 15-1 for position 1-15. Then for each race, a win gets 5 points, 2nd gets 4, each 3rd-5th gets 3 points, 6th-10th gets 2 points, and

Well I'm not impressed with triple crowns. I know Weege, JT, Blair, and Matthes all think their the greatest thing to hit SX but I don't see it. So you have three races to decide a winner. got it. The final race of the night should be the climax of the night in my opinion. So lets look at last night. The 250 class we had the top 3 riders, coming into the race, Jett, Forkner, and Mcadoo tied in points coming into the 3rd race. The broadcast called it "sudden death" to see who wins between the 3. Which in reality is the best outcome you could hope for from the first 2 races of the night to have the top 3 riders tied in points. So I'm sure the above mentioned 4 were all humming to this amazing 3 rider "sudden death" race. Yawn... On a normal racing night on the main event starting gate are 22 riders. All tied in points for the night and it's a "sudden death" race but not just between 3 but 22 riders. WOW! You would think The above mentioned 4 would now be super excited with 22 riders tied going into the final race. Smile Just kidding. So to me a main event final race should be "sudden death" but include 22 not just 3.
On to the 450 class. This third race was basically between Tomac and Anderson, but Webb, Mookie, and Sexton were still in it. Shocker! The top 5 riders coming into tonight's race were the top 5 riders going into the 3rd race. The exception is that Tomac at worse had to finish 2nd if Anderson was leading. So we have Tomac just following Anderson all race. Yawn! We have the top 2 riders racing in the front But one rider doesn't need to win so we miss out on what might have been a dramatic finish.
So my point is I'd ratter see one main that's for all the marbles each Race day. You can have 10 races each night but the top 5 will most of the time be the top five so why add more carnage and get riders hurt(watch 250 class). I'd love if each race the winner has to battle all race but it rarely happens and Triple Crowns don't make the racing any more exciting. Just the opposite they make it more confusing for the casual fan and possibly injure more riders. And I know the above 4 live at the races and are bored with he current format. Sorry, but you are an exception. The average fan loves the standard show so why change what ain't broke.
Note: this is my opinion

Last night was my first time attending a TC in person. It was awesome and only reinforced my like for the TC races. I like the format of just sprinkling in a few TC events each season. I wouldn't add anymore or less. I would rotate the location of the venue so fans in other locations have the opportunity to see one in person.

I feel like it’s keeps racing interesting & intense. Just so much downtime on tv or even at the race

He was trying at one point....but I'm guessing he didn't push too hard. He didn't need to win. Why risk the long picture of championship.

I’m a life long core moto fan & I love the triple crown. The racing is better IMHO. It’s the top guys battling harder & faster while not having any room for error. It adds something new & exciting to SX so I’m all for it.

I like the triple crown, every race of the evening counts instead of watching 2hrs of the same guys going through the motions only to race for 20 meaningful minutes.

Agreed though I see triple crowns as circus-fication of it. Next we can have rings of fire to jump through. I didn’t know so many people liked this garbage. I can argue that once Tomac saw JA get 6th in the first race he knew he had the win and settled for 2nd in race 2 as well as race 3. There’s no points system that works and is fair. This stuff is fine for Monster Cup with your idiotic joker lane. It doesn’t belong in championship professional racing. It’s an exhibition stunt. Out of 6 races that ran, the actual 2 winners only won 1 single race between the two of them. Think about that.

I guarantee you that he was not trying as hard in the third race to win as he would have been if that race was the only points paying race of the night. The only thing that could make him lose first place on the night would be crashing back to third. Not a chance.

They need to add three more to make six total. Have 3 west and 3 east, make it a mid season achievement for maybe a money bonus. One for 250 west, one for 250 east, and of course 450s bonus will be bigger due to having to race all 6. Other sports have mid season tournaments

As much as I dislike the triple Crown, last night was pretty solid. 3 way tie for both classes is about as good as it gets. 3rd race actually mattered for a change.

"The fact that any rider who watches likes it is disturbing"

Fuck yeah high five my day is complete our work here is done ! Laughing You being disturbed by what other people like to watch is a little more disturbing but whatever it's cool. Think of TC events like an Oldtimers National, 3 races on Saturday. Except the over 40 50 & 60 guys do much longer moto's. Laughing

Paying series points for each moto win, plus points for overall would make for a bit less "settling in for position".
Especially the last moto.
The last main. There are three mains in a triple crown format

I actually love the Triple Crowns, just for the fact it's 3 fresh races. So if you shat the bed in one you have a chance to redeem yourself, not to mention they are always exciting. The downside is like someone posted above, it really screws the privateers and their sponsors. I'm fine with the schedule the way it is now and having a few Triple Crown races and 250 shoot outs thrown in the mix is good for the sport. I have friends that could 2 $%*~$ about moto but were all about it last night, making bets and what not. They also enjoyed the close racing and yes, unfortunately the crashes. But RJ, Austin and Jett gained some new instagram followers. I remember when Roczen won his first race back after his injury...which I think was St. Louis? My GF at the time started crying and getting all emo when they showed Roczen's wife in the stands balling her eyes out...and she was all in. We broke up shortly after, but she still sent me texts about the races. What I'm saying is you have to cover all your bases. My friends or her would never watch it, unless it was intriguing to them in one way or another.

I didnt read any of it... I just did the most vital thing I could think of and just gave it a down vote.

I like the triple crowns. If starting is the most important aspect to these short sprints... then why not give us more of them?

Im not opposed to them at all. I wouldn't be a supporter of making it the main format of supercross by no means. But every now and then its kind of cool to break the mold and do something different. And honestly i feel like we've seen some awesome racing with it since its started. When you can let the guys just sprint instead of having to really worry about the long race and being smart with your fitness you really see them race at 100% speed a lot of time.

Can’t stand this format. Would rather see 3 races a year with 30+1 mains with the points for a win starting at 36 and dropping like the standard points system. Let’s see who is in shape!

Nah. I'm pretty sure it's the same as a regular round.

If it’s the same payout, I bet the night show regular’s don’t mind. Less laps for the same money.
