What does that mean? Chase (ahem Honda) is going to find a Dr. who is going to err on the side of racing. He was already out cycling Monday which isn’t what you should be doing BEFORE going through the protocol, if indeed concussed. I was just reading how Bubba got Ko’d in 2016 and his Doc’s cleared him to race the following week and he had to pull off the track as he was suffering blurred vision. I would bet Chase will be out there this week and I would also bet he suffered a concussion.

why did you guys always take a negative approach, just because YOU do not think he should race then Honda or Chase or both must be finding a doctor so he can race....why state that opinion in such a massively negative light. Cannot you be a slightest bit reasonable or positive? or do you all live your lives so negatively?

for all your experts/caring people here know Honda and/or Chase want the best doctor possible to ensure he IS ok to race!! FFS
First of all I don’t think he shouldn’t race. All I’m saying is I doubt he would sit no matter what they found. You though acting as if Honda is some kind of bastion for all that is good…..they are in my opinion the most cutthroat team going. For informational purposes look how MC’s and RC’s time with Honda ended. They both made Honda eat shit for years after but at the same time neither was pleased with how they were treated at the end.

You need to listen to the podcast I posted above so you can be more informed regarding the facts on how SX/MX handles concussions. Lots of speculation in this thread without knowledge…

It wouldn't be his choice if they found he's not okay to ride. That's how the concussion protocol works!

...and your Honda take is ridiculous. McGrath was treated sooooo poorly that he became a brand ambassador after racing! ...lol

Well I know Doc Bodnar isn’t the one person who decides as I’ve seen you put a few times now. But I guess you aren’t aware of what happened between MC and Honda. Certainly my take on Honda is far from ridiculous. You’re allowed to disagree but MC was not happy with them at all when he left based on how they treated him. Because he took their money later on doesn’t for a second change that they pissed him off when he went left.

Things were different then…what is that 25yrs ago…things have changed people have changed… the final decision on whether a rider will be released to race is most definitely Doc Bodnar and his team…listen to the podcast to have a full understanding on how they deal with concussions

After that hit and seeing him struggle to move afterwards he obviously had a injury to his brain . I felt like I was watching a UFC fighter after getting tkoed. Seeing his post I think he is gonna race but I feel like someone shouldn’t allow him weather that’s the team or the series idk…
And why would you even care?

If Chase wants to race he should be able to.

This reminds me so much of James Stewart's 2011 Daytona endo thread. Anybody else remember that one?
Speaking of James… anyone hear Bubba talk about the Sexton crash/ incident on his recent podcast? 😳

Edit: interesting listen around the 27:00 min mark. Listen for yourself… Bubba brings up/ compares it to his Daytona crash but says he doesn’t think he was as bad as chase. says chase was basically knocked out standing up… uses the term koo koo for coco puffs. Mentions something about chase probably waking up around the time the medic was preventing him from getting on his bike.

Ummm….no they’re not…They are going to do what the docs decide…listen to the podcast above and you will fully understand the process…It’s not Chase’s or Honda’s decision….blown away by how uninformed the moto community is on the concussion protocols in place….

Not looking to throw an opinion down on whether he should or shouldn’t race, but when he phoned in on pulp he mentioned he completed a concussion test over a lengthy FaceTime and that sounded like the most unprofessional arrangement for a rising superstar of the sport.

Lots of armchair neuroscientists and neurologists on vital, but no one here knows he has a concussion.

1. If you watch the crash, his head does make it over the take off, and he rolls pretty well, so no sudden stop. It's not obvious that he had a lot of force applied to his skull.

2. Yeah, he was flustered after the crash, but the guy was panicking that he was going from winning to last place, his heart rate was just at 180 for 20 minutes. This is expected.

If it's me, I take an extra week off. I am not in the championship, and it's just one race. However, I get why, having passed all the tests and feeling great on the bike, he'd want to race.

We really need accelerometers on the helmets. We could study which helmets work the best, and we'd be able to give this information to neurologists to make more informed decisions about how must rest the rider needs after a hit.
“..he was flustered..” lol
Come on. If you’re just flustered, you get up and run to your bike, and notice right away that it won’t roll, then say, fuck, and walk back to the pits.

I'm shocked at how many doctors we have on Vital who had the opportunity to evaluate Sexton after his crash.

So if Chase is uninjured, why didn’t he get up and behave normally, get up quickly, notice the bike is fucked?
Does he have any injury?

Exactly what DonM is saying, he will have to pass the concussion test Friday and that will determine.

He's said before he gets overly emotional in those situations, and his heart rate was about 190 before he crashed and it no doubt spiked.

Thanks for sharing the link. I love how James is talking about stuff we never would have heard him talk about during his racing career.

Cool James reference to 2006 Dallas too. I was there and that was a crazy race.

Hope Chase has solid race this weekend and keeps it on two wheels.

As for racing after going down hard. What would Rex Staten do?

EDIT: Some of you youngsters might need to look that one up.

Some of you old guys might want to look at what's been learned about brain injuries since then.

Over emotional enough where he looked like a 6month old trying to get up and crawl for the first time, emotional enough where he looked punch drunk trying to walk back to his corner after taking a shot from Tyson, emotional enough where he couldn’t throw a leg over his bike like a normal 23 year old??? Friggin crazy that people are choosing to be blind to what we all saw. If he tests ok good for him but there is no doubt that he was knocked silly and not simply overly “emotional”

Theres like three types of concussions: one you get and you don’t even go to sleep. Next level is knocked out. A whole nutha level is knocked out with memory loss. Once i crashed and my dad said where’d you crash? What part of the track? And i said what track are we even at? I couldn’t remember. At the time I couldn’t even remember what classes i had at school. I thought it was funny i was laughing about it. The memory came back after a few hours

What a stupid take, Don. We've seen years of sports teams shoving their athletes out there while hurt to get hurt even worse. How many stories of CTEs leading to violence have we heard about in the NFL? How many motocrossers have had their careers cut short from injuries and suffered long-term effects or drug issues due to ignoring? None of us are doctors but it doesn't take much to see when someone has had their bell rung. He's probably under a lot of pressure from himself and others to bounce back after throwing away a win like that. No one wants to see someone do permanent damage to themselves over a couple of races that won't salvage his championship hopes anyway. Don't be naive.

You’re misunderstanding my position…I’m not saying that he should be allowed to race or not, what I’m saying is that the professional doctors are more qualified to make that decision and have an opinion than a group of people on a message board who may or may not have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night…the naive ones art the people that think they are qualified because they saw it on TV…The Dr’s that will make the call do not have a vested interest on whether he races or not, only in what’s best for his health…

Not saying you’re right or wrong but couldn’t chase just go to different doctors till he found one to clear him ? I would say obviously go with the professional opinion but I’m not sure the professional opinion is the right opinion because I do think a doctor could have other interest rather then just his health . Are there doctors that clear u basically no matter what just like there are doctors that will give u trt or painkillers as long as they get your business??? Just a lot of questions if u ask me And as a fan of chases I don’t think the risk out weights the reward obviously I’m not in his shoes though
What is wrong with you? It’s obvious nothing will change your mind. Why are you so convinced that every MD that evaluates Chase knows less than what you do, from a video? A Dr isn’t going to risk their license and an incredible lawsuit for absolutely no gain.

Ya no doubt, hopefully not about Sexton eating shit again though.
