If ET3 wins the title is he on the Mt Rushmore

Edited Date/Time 2/6/2022 3:25am
I say yes. Maybe 2 or 3rd. If he adds a MXdN he’s 2nd Imo.
He’s going to be 3rd All-time wins in SX and also MX.

Does he get on it

Huge Eli fan but isn’t Mt Rushmore 4 dudes?

If he got this title it’d be his 6th… but there are quite a few with that and more ahead, including guys who beat him.

I don’t see how you can shuffle one of those guys off with more wins and they beat you.

Ricky, MC, Villopoto, Dungey, at this poin even if Eli had 2 SX titles. I think he is just jutside that around 5th or 6th. If he had 3 SX titles and 3 MX (or more) it would help him out, but his wins are starting to put him in the discussion. I wouldn't say an MXoN should make a break a rider's greatness because that is a team effort. You could blow everyone out of the water and still suck as a team if your teammates aren't great. (one example would be Tim Gajser).

Is he better than RV or Dunge? That’s a tough call, he will have more wins than both, inside and out though..

And even if it’s SX only Rushmore, MC, RC, JS, CR all have more wins and titles than tomac (currently)

Yeah, Tim has that excuse, but not any American rider. Eli just hasn‘t shown that he can perform on his level when he leaves the US. Look at guys like RC and RV. No matter where they lined up for a race, you knew they will compete for the win. They just had that aura.

I would put Eli ahead of Reed.

Eli's looking good thus far and continually praising the team and the bike. I completely underestimated him this season. I thought he would just mail it in and retire. I was wrong.

No. Dylan quit with these silly polls.

Not yet. At this point, I think he is the title favorite this year, but that would only be his second SX title. That's less than Jeff Stanton. He needs more titles and wins to replace someone on Mt. Rushmore.

He’s the 8th best in the history of AMA, if he wins SX this year I still think he’s 8th best all time.

The way Eli is looking, we could be seeing another SX and MX title.

Get past Stew on SX wins and I think there is a legit claim

Hannah, RC, Johnson, ?

The first 3 spots seem almost automatic.

The 4th spot could go to so many others that it’s crazy.

MC
Lackey
Ward
Glover
Bailey
Barnett
Stanton
Stewart
Villopoto
Dungey
Parker

Tomac might be considered in the mix with another SX title, but it’s certainly not a slam dunk.

As a tomac fan, my answer is no. Top 4. In usa racing. Rc. Rv. Dungey. Mc. Wins are nice. Titles are better.

Isn't et3 29 yrs old? He could get hot on this yammerhammer and win 1-4 more 450 titles before he retires... not over till its over...

Not for me, but if he manages to win a 2nd 450 SX title, on a different brand, it’s cements him as one of the Top 8 or so all time for sure

I thought that I had listed him before Lackey, must have somehow deleted it trying to type on the phone. Definitely a proofreading error, thanks for catching that!

Didn’t a lot of those wins & titles come when those 2 other guys were hurt or out for that season ?

And for me, at least, the only reason that MC isn’t a lock for the mountain overall is that despite his one outdoor title, he didn’t seem to put nearly as much effort into MX as he could have. That may not be completely accurate, but it sure seemed that way. He had the talent to dominate indoors AND out, but didn’t appear to have the same interest and devotion to the 2 disciplines.

If Eli rides for two more years (seems likely at least), and he won everything and MXDN (if), would it change anyones mind and where would it place him. Today I’d say not a top all time Mt Rushmore whatever, but if he won out until retirement he’s be on another level.

Absolutely he is. He's one of best riders in terms of skills/bike handling imo. I put Windham up there too.

The bullshit part of the modern era is the 125/250f SX titles. Some of the all-timers had none because the class didn’t exist. When counting all-timers I don’t include those titles. It works the other way though where some all-timers had 2 outdoor titles to go for per year. I think it’s hard to not include MC with 8 titles not counting 2 125 SX. RC is a given. He should be on anyone’s list. Then it gets questionable. For me Tomac does with any combination of two more titles not just this one. Which is nowhere near decided though looking pretty good for him.

I was a Reed fan too, but at the end of the day it is what it is. You have the race the guys that line up.

Eli had some pretty good rides in Germany before he went over the bars and Kegums I think it was.

He had a great season going in 1996 before he got injured. People often overlook that but he had all the momentum and then got hurt at either Spring Creek or Washougal.

If MC wins 96 Steel City you almost have to stamp him as number 2 overall behind RC, but he didn’t and was completely out rode and lost the title.
