No they weren’t, they were how the whoops should be. Colt made a mistake, unfortunately this is the result. I’m bummed for him and the effort he put in the off season. But don’t blame the whoops

As an Oklahoman, I'm beyond bummed. So now what. Heals up for outdoors and races 450s in supercross next year? Is his Star contract up?

My thoughts exactly. Man , I'm surprised with two broken arms on this. I know it was a knarly wreck , but I honestly thought he would of just been bruised up. I need to re-watch the wreck , obviously he did somethings I didn't see. Heal up Colt!

Edit : That was a lot harder hit than I thought. He got a good burn from the pipe as well. Pretty brutal.

Just been confirmed by Star, both arms surgery today…

starracingyamaha Injury Update: @_coltnichols suffered injuries to both arms in his crash while leading the 250 Heat race in Anaheim last night. He will be undergoing surgery today and more info will be shared once available.

Brutal, such a bummer for him and this came in the worst possible moment considering that he needs a 450 ride next year.

Edit: Although who knows, maybe Star tries to influence AMA to change the rules so both Cooper and Colt can stay in the 250 class for 2023. It wouldn't be the first time rules are changed.

From what I understand, both Colt and Justin Cooper are both out of the 250 class at the end of the year, no matter what. They only get one chance to defend thier titles in the 250 east/west and then they have to move to the 450 class.

Unless Eli or Dylan leave Star(dont see that happening), then I dont see a spot for Colt or Cooper on that team. They could both end up on factory teams(maybe Husky or Gas Gas, etc.). Im not positive who all will have spots open for the 2023 season.

After the Anaheim performance, I’m beginning to wonder if Eli will be back. All his preseason press indicated that he was coming into the season more prepared than he ever has, but his performance was almost identical to every other A-1 he’s raced. I kinda get the impression that if the move to Star doesn’t move him to the pointy end of the Supercross spear, he’ll call it a career after this year. I know the season just kicked off, but I certainly didn’t see the dramatically improved level of comfort and speed everyone was touting preseason. Star might have a seat available after all.

I feel bad for Colt and was hoping for him to continue his great form in his last year in 250 SX - but PLEASE do not touch the whoops. The whoops were a great equalizer and allowed for the great racing and passing. From last year's outdoor track prep and this year's A1 track I am feeling positive about tracks for the first time in ages. Let the good racing commence, bad crashes will happen when the superstars are pushing the envelope on difficult tracks, but that's why we watch, we need to see things done on bikes that simply don't seem possible.

You guys and your endless adoration of giant whoops. No amount of carnage curbs it. Every once in a while, someone gets hurt so bad you briefly wonder the wisdom of your attraction, but it always passes. I've never understood it and I never will. Some of you are so twisted, you actually get MAD if a rider starts jumping through them instead of skimming them, particularly if the "jumpers" pace matches the pace of the "purists" who are still skimming. Peculiar, just so damn peculiar.

I got slammed in another thread for saying the track was a bit much for the first round. I felt a little better when RacerX said the same thing:
"The track is usually tamed down and less-than-average drama and aggression. The round-one track is usually designed to let the riders settle into the series, and the riders are usually tight and nervous. That was certainly not the case this year. The track was gnarly and the action was as intense as a mid-season round of the series."

When i saw that bike on him, knowing the yamaha exhaust i was like, he is getting burned badly. Glad that flagger got it off him quickly.
