Why can't they still run there 1W and 1E plates, who cares if they are on the wrong coast.
Exactly! And towards the last few rounds the east and west are riding together in a mixed group anyways!

How many races did Zach O got run to his #1 plate for?. To do the work and get that #1 plate just to have it sit on a shelf is crazy to me. I suppose they got paid but still.

So is Justin Cooper hurt again or do they just not believe he can beat Jett? Definitely seems odd to me that they aren’t running either #1 plates.

He will have his hands full if forkner is on east. Has anyone noticed If he doesn’t holeshot he doesn’t come through the pack to win?

So 250 West got the same hitters as 250 East last year, Nichols,Craig, Jett, Shimoda and Moisman.

I know, rules are rules but the AMA has loosely interpreted some of their own rules in the past on issues that were of greater consequence than this.
If it was any other team that did that Star would protest them to take their points away…

By the way, I didn't check the entry list yet, does that mean we get the revenge battles of Nichols vs Jett and Cooper vs Hunter again?
Has anyone besides Ernie and Stew done it?

Imma gonna go the other way... u pay all that cash to win those titles, to earn the #1 plate, then don't run them? Not optimal marketing

No matter what number they run or what region they race, as long as they are in the 250 class again, I consider them both to be defending their titles…. even if they are both in the same region.

They should still be able to run the 1e/w regardless

I feel like this would be like Dylan running the 1 this winter. He is the national champ why not? Run a 1N? Or am I over simplifying this terrible idea

This is the west coast 250s. The only 1 on the track should be the defending champ of the series

I get what you're saying, however they'll both be wearing their respective number 1 in the showdown races.

In theory it shouldn't matter if they run their number 1 plate on the opposite coast, but since they didn't partake in that series it makes sense for them to run their assigned/career number.

Good point. This could be solved with a 17 round 250 series

I don’t really want to debate you right now but that is a horrible analogy.

Supercross and motocross nationals are two separate series.

The 250 supercross series is divided into two championships.

This gave me a idea, what if 250 Riders were able to race all 17 supercross rounds if they so choose for a chance to win the 250 national supercross championship

Well he gets great starts 75% of the time

Maybe I’m in the minority here, but I would be bummed to not run the #1 plate I earned the previous year. As a fan, I also want to see the #1 out there on the track, but that’s not my decision. Just seems a big waste of effort from a marketing perspective and from a personal achievement point of view.

I’m old enough to remember no one wanting to run the #1 (James, Ricky, Chad)

But Star is all about championships even if that means putting their champions on opposite coasts from the previous season. There is a strategic reason they did that.

Why can't they run their respective 1E/1W on the other coast? Is there a rule against it? I would think they would still be in compliance with running their 'earned' number from last year.

Then they would have to pay NATIONAL points at REGIONAL races........ And that would be ridiculous. Whistling

Its rider dodging or injury management. If it was truly this "learn the other coast" spin how about this:
Rep your 1 on the coast you earned it and ride 450's on the other.

They should run the 1W or 1E, especially if the other number 1 is on the opposite coast. They run them together for the East/West shootouts with no issue.

This may have been the strategy deployed for picking who is racing East or West.

My guess is Cooper was late to start SX training with outdoor title on the line and a thumb injury, while Colt Nichols was more fresh coming off no injuries and not fighting all summer for outdoor title.

Forkner seriously? Hope you're right but has he ever finished a SX series healthy? Someone needs to tell him to slow down to finish.

He would first have to work through explaining why the blue yamahas are black, and why Jett is coming up Forkner's backside.
