Yadayadayadayada do the thumbs down regarding your posts open your eyes at all?
The dude has a cool piece of history, and you have missed the boat.
Carry on.
Great read. My first brand new bike was a 98 YZ250. Everything Noleen developed for the rear suspension was incorporated into the later year bikes. I was a big Tim Ferry fan since he rode the 98 for team Noleen, the red white and blue graphics and Noleen had won the pipe shootout that year. I ended up having Noleen do the motor, suspension and had their nickel pipe. The bike ripped! I didn't realize how good it was till I replaced it with my first woods bike a 01 KTM 250 EXC and then rode them back to back. The only thing that sucked was the rubber bumper forks. LOL
Still looking for the Mag test of his bike that picture is from.....
Ps: why do you put barnett before all your text? Are you talking to yourself?

Are you Kenny Hall's buddy I sold my Larry Ward Noleen bike to? I sold it to a friend of a friend who was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base back in 97 or so. My bike was a 1994 Larry Ward race bike, everything on it was exactly as it was when taken out of service for the 95 season #11 plates with AMA tech stickers and all (I still have the front number plate with the #11 and tech inspection sticker) EXEPT...the only thing that Noleen switched out was the cylinder because the 94 cylinders where preferred so mine got a take off Noleen ported 95 cylinder. Noleen ran ATF instead of gear oil in the gearbox too and it indeed had an ohlins shock a Noleen pipe and the Noleen linkage. I swapped out the front "Sizzler" fender and #11 plates when I was racing it but gave all that exept the fron plate to the new owner. The rear hub was marked "Lewis" because parts where swaped from the team bikes often (Kyle Lewis). I lived in Rosamond when I owned it and so did Kyle Lewis and I would run across Kyle riding in the same areas often and would follow his lead the best I could (Props To Kyle skills from another planet) Clark Jones personally handled all the DMV paperwork for me because it was never put into the DMV system as it came straight from Yamaha and no title was originally issued I was told, and yes the engine and frame both had VIN numbers. I remember the pink slip showed year firs sold as a couple years later than the actual year because that. I loved the bike and it fit me well because I am 6'2" and It was still set up for ward when I got it. One thing that stood out to me was that the rear brakes pedal was set VERY low exactly like I set mine up for a better forward position in the berms and it wad a thin cable from the brake pedal going to the frame. I kick myself in the ass for selling it but needed a new bike to race and was mostly a Kawasaki rider those days anyway......would love to hear where it ended up!........Donnie Pines
Hey!! It has passed down through 5 people from Kenny. I was friends with 4 of them. Nobody knew who had raced the bike. They all knew it was a pro bike but that’s all. I have been looking for years to find the right parts to build it back to original. This one has a low front break and the hole for the cable. It has round holes drilled in the air box. The other ones I have seen has slots cut.
I am not usually a fan of old threads being brought back to life but wow, this one is an exception! Glad the OP finally got the real history of this..umm..piece of moto history! I hope you can track down all the parts you need and show us a great restoration project. Hope this ends even better than one of those Hallmark movies my wife watches when she’s not watching HGTV!
Forgot to mention, Noleen did NOT run the long rod kit and if I recall the crankshaft pin was tig welded and then balanced. The engine ran really good and I ran it on VP-c12. I have a few old pictures of it when I owned it. I am not clear on if the OP understood what I was saying to be clear I was responding to RD-Reeds comment about buying it when stationed at Edwards Air Force Base. I was asking if he was Kenny hall's friend and if he was the guy I sold it to back in the day.
Thats awesome! Were the other plastics in bad shape when you sold the bike ? I think the first guy that bought it got ride of them. He didn’t give them to my buddy that brought it, I believe my friend picked it up from the guy you sold it too In 2003 2004 ish. I should send it back up the chain to see if he still has any of them. The purple plastics have been hard for me to locate. Where are you located ?
I'm in (Quartz Hill Ca, (W Lancaster) I took the original plastics number plates and front fender off for a few reasons #1 to preserve the before I hammered them and #2 I had to run my own race number. #3 I didn't want to come off as a poser or to be riding practice at LACR or Glen Helen and people watching me thinking I was Larry Ward riding like a Pud !!! I could hold my own pretty good but not at that level, I actually got the bike to race it 👉 The plastics went to the person I sold it to in perfect condition.
Larry lived about 20 min from SOB so he may have given or sold it to them.
Here’s a pic of Larry riding to get you motivated to finish your build. It’s from Gary Semic,s book pro Mx riding techniques
