Stats and off the bike opinions aside. This and the chadapault are iconic moments in this sport.

First, glad that Ryan is doing better, has pretty much all his physical functions, and is healing well. No one ever wants someone to suffer devastating injuries.

Ryan seems like an interesting character. He’s incredibly hyperbolic, so it’s difficult to believe everything that he says is 100% accurate. Like when he says that people told him that they’d never seen anyone in as much pain as him, how no one else understands things as well as he does, etc. When he said that he recovered from his paralysis because he’s stronger than other people, it was a little bit sickening, especially knowing a guy who is in a chair who’s exponentially stronger (still!!!) than Ryan could ever hope to be. The implication that those who can’t recover from their SCIs like he has just aren’t ‘strong’ enough is disgusting at best…..

Everything has to be grandiose, bigger and badder than anyone else has ever had or could imagine.

That makes for good entertainment for some people, but not for everyone.

Again, I’m extremely happy that Ryan won’t be living the rest of his life in a chair, and hopefully he stays healthy and gets to walk with his next generations and enjoy life fully.

Guy reminds me of Gary Busey more and more. He clearly has some brain damage.

I'd love to see him tell Doug Henry he's just stronger than him. Doug kicked his ass once and he still would.

Well said! The list that has kicked his ass is pretty darn long. Shows up to Loretta’s this year and gets worked again by the guys that always beat him. Convenient he brings a ‘86 model 2 stroke so he has a built in excuse for his ass kicking. He’s a self serving tool that could use his platform for good but chooses not to.

If his greatest claim to fame is pushing a seized motorcycle up a hill then most of us on here are legends.

Oh and winning the Des Nations.

How many riders can say they have won that?

It's ignorance. It's a shame ignorant people can also be somewhat good at public speaking and have people listen to their verbal diarrhea about safety or how they overcame something because they are "stronger".

*broken chain
I got no problem with Ryno the racer. He was a badass on a bike. But, ever since he had that bad crash when he was still pro where his eye was knocked crooked, he has not been the Ryno I was a fan of. Not trying to be a dick or funny when I say I think he's got some brain damage.

Is it basically the same stuff from Whiskey Throttle? As a kid, Ryno was my favorite rider because he was nuts. But now he just seems nuts lol.

One of those comments are crazy and eccentric…the other is a malicious, hostile. ad hominem attack. I would MUCH rather hang out and be associated with the eccentric guy. You must be fun at partiesDry

I agree with most everything you said. But then you made this ironic hyperbolic, grandiose statement, “Knowing a guy who is still in a chair who is exponentially stronger (still!!!) than Ryan could ever hope to be.”
How strong is Ryan and how strong does he “hope” to be?Huh As you can see, sometimes we all say crazy shit too, but we don’t have a spotlight shining on us and lots of people picking us apart.

Here's my old college roommate nearly 15 years after his SCI occurred (picture is from several years ago, he's still about the same other than a little bit older!!!).

Other than being able to use his legs now, I can't imagine any way that Ryan was/is 'stronger' than this man in any form. If 'strength' were the thing that makes you either recover from or live with an SCI, then this man would be running today.

Your views may vary, however.

Can someone, anyone make an articulate argument as to why so many claim this flake is a racing legend? Best I can tell he never won a championship and really didn't win that many races. There are plenty of guys that have won championships and have more wins that a lot here seem to think have had a substandard career. It's confusing to me to say the least.

Career stats:

Personality is part of being a legend- you don't hear that term applied very often to Ryan Dungey, for instance, as phenomenal as a racer as he was (Or George Holland or Micky Dymond or any other number of guys who have won championships). 'Course Mike LaRocco never had much personality and "legend" could apply. Bob Hannah-legend, Ricky Johnson-legend.It's nebulous. Ryan has been around the sport so long and has a big presence because he has trained so many racers.

Ohh I don't know, winning a MXDN, racing a second moto with a broken leg (while in contention for the 2003 125 outdoor title) the chain incident, racing two seasons in Europe, racing WORCS, having a very long and successful career comes to mind.
You should have a better understanding of someone's career before you decide to take a dump on them. That guy has persevered through a lot and kept on going. Not saying I agree with everything he says, but you can't take away all he has accomplished.

Some reading for your pleasure.

I am sorry, but being able to ride a motorcycle fast has no indication on their character.

Glad my TV has an off button and glad I never feel tempted to click many links.

Legend isnt always about winning. Sometimes it's about the journey, the personality or the story of winning or losing by the smallest of margins.

South wick 03 makes Ryno a legend. End of story. There you go.

I totally love my 2006 Yamaha raptor. I modded the monster, 105.5mm cylinder and chamber with a phase 3 cam, in addition to 3mm admission valve and in addition to 2mm exhaust valves, 5mm stroker wrench introduced, Hinson grasp bin, in addition to few different things. I can ride close to a Polaris rzr 1000 and it's tapped out on top, I'm in fourth stuff I can pull it up, then, at that point, change in fifth and it's dumb quick. Indeed, it has taller sprocket front and center and as little as I could discover back. In addition 22" tires in back with 23" tall front and center. Been riding for more than 40 years. Still appreciate it each possibility I ge url=https://kodi.software/]Kodi nox
