I was a skeptical, white old man about this whole e-bike thing. EVERYONE who rode an Alta was nothing but impressed with it and it is truly a tragedy that the company didn't make it through to a successful end. Enter Varg, who has jumped over the OEM's with impressive engineering and forward thinking. Change or die and electric will find it's place in our sport, of that there is no doubt. I watch this video and can't be help but be impressed with the product, so count me in for one, and I don't need to spend the extra 1300.00 on the 80HP version-that is crazy talk right there.

This evolution is on the horizon, so get on board. Change or die. I'm not selling my 2021 Husky 450, nor my 2004 YZ450F. I need to add a 2 stroke back to the stable- I want them all until I can't ride any more. This Varg, this wolf, is fucking cool and I love the idea of owning a boutique brand. I dig being able to order it up online, direct from the manufacturer.

Same thing was said about e-mountain bikes-everyone shit on them until they rode one, then, best thing since sliced bread. Need to get one of those as well. Tic toc, we are all on the clock.

Anyway a new KTM 450 is already $14,000 here..
This thing will give me the chance to ride at home whenever I want..

Cool! Thanks Mav! They seem to be pretty organized. If I had to factor in another 10% gst,it would still be worth it.
I will be down the back paddock setting up my 2 tracks this coming may...such perfect natural terrain down there.
I ordered the 60hp option ,19 inch rear and 75 to 80kg setup...oh and its a red one!
I was thinking of buying a leftover 21 ktm 350 until last night!
I will get to ride probably 400% more than I do now.
Selling my old 125 and 250f and buying a new ktm 125 in the meantime...really looking forward to all this

My order number is 23925...surely that doesn't mean they already have that many orders? That would be huge!

Somewhere in 2023

"Honey, you won't believe it! My phone broke today."
"Ahh shucks!"
"But i bought a new one already."
"Oh, that's nice. And what about the dirtbike on the front yard?"
"Oh that thing... That's just a protective case"
"And the new trailer next to it?"
Uhhh... Protective glass?!

Man I get it I really do, I do think it’s cool and it’s perfect for recreation riding and at tracks where noise is a problem and don’t want to see more tracks get shut down but I can’t see this as the future of the racing side of the sport. Half the joy of moto is the sound. That intensity and excitement when the 30 second bored goes side ways and the revs come up and the gate drops, that crack when someone shifts gears. Imagine sitting at A1 with it being dead silent would be so weird. I get it I do and it is cool, but hope it doesn’t take over till long after I’m gone 😂

How have they been able to keep this hidden for so long? I live in sweden and i havent heard a thing.

Hopefully this lights a flame up the Japs asses to start producing those E-bikes
I agree Lastander... the sceptic in me feels there is something fishy, too good to be true, but then again, maybe times are changing and this is the moto revolution that starts now.

Perfect marketing.
Create a product with specs not seen before that fills a gap in the sport with the future in mind, all while keeping it hidden for the public!
Hire great names from the sport to test ride and maybe be ambassadors, shoot some nice riding videos and explanation videos to show off the very first day of introduction.
Make it possible to pre order at a reasonable fee with a set delivery date.
This while the regular manufacteres introduce there new models and you just blow there doors off.
Even your site went offline due to overload.

Can it be even better?

As for the bike, it looks very promising. This would make riding almost everywhere possible...
Noise is the number 1 reason for the hate towards dirtbikes and tracks closing...

This sounds so interesting. Such a modern and POWERFUL machine. Everyone knows how good the Alta was and this sounds even better.

How they achieve all this and at a price that is competitive with the gas powered bikes in nothing but incredible.

And oh yeah, it comes with a freaking smartphone too.

Too much value!

$13470 usd in the article is $18943 Australian!! Nearly 20k mostly likely once landed on a dirtbike and everyone sooks about factory/works editions bikes 🙄🙄🙄 and then if somethings wrong how do you fix it? 😅 buy the time you put 100hrs on a ICE bike your in that ball park if left stock with just paying for fuel. And most people usually sell them around 100hrs give or take anyway.

I think its super interesting all the features from 125-450 power, engine braking, map settings ect don't get me wrong, very cool.

BUT all the vitards already whinge about 450s having to much power 🥲🥲🥲 so yeah 60-80hp on tap is a great idea 😂😂😂 Joe blow who buys a new 250 is restricted to the 250s power but with this bike he can be like fuck it let's try 60hp+ and whiskey it of the berm into the next state and its all good 😅 and it will happen.

Yeah understand the noise part but we all in the same boat, we are all in it. Its moto.

People will buy them with fuck all moto background and just tune it for power and really have no idea.

I'll argue black and blue, and your a fuck wit if you think otherwise such a power bike open to the market is "safe" when majority of vitards think 450s is to much 😂😂😂

I don't think anybody is saying this is an immediate replacement for all gas bikes everywhere in all conditions. But this is a hell of a step and a great option to have if it's everything they say.
Right on the mark there. I think electric will be a success in MX before other disciplines, simply because of the fact that our races are relatively short. Our practice sessions are relatively short. I can see, for some people, keeping an ICE bike for filling in during recharge times.

Now, at 56, I have been wavering and considering it may be time to give in and try a four-stroke. This gives me hope that I may be able to skip the thumper phase and go directly to electric.

Will be a classic bait and switch 100%

Specs don't match reality.

If it is homologated the refueling rule should say it must do qualifying and both motos without a battery swap- only recharging.

I guess minimum 3 to 5 years... haven`t seen anything similar in such an advanced stage from any other player in the market.

To everyone wailing about why they would make it 80HP, if you watch the video they say it's because electric motors are most efficient at 50% of max power, and it's better to have the power and not need it, than need it and not have it. So detune it and enjoy the extra battery life!

I'm probably the fool next this this time a year when we see the Varg race around mx and sx tracks in full speed.... but, yeah, just talked to another 'moto dude' a few hours ago, in Sweden, who is very well connected. How on earth has there not been the slightest rumor that something is cooking? No spy pics, not specs, but in general talk about that there is a team working on a really cool amazing electric dirtbike in Sweden.

Did they same happen with Tesla and the KTM E-XC, just boom! here it is... no whispering months before that something is in the works... ???

Actually, now I see... the CEO is Swedish but it has been developed in Spain, so yeah... guess there has bene easier to keep it under cover for us in Sweden at least.

Very cool.

And again with another excuse by not being born 2 years earlier, lmao

And us “older guys that got handout Pro cards”—- oh boy, lol. The AMA must have felt bad for us too,and gave us some “handout “ National points !!

Just stop —

Just saying. If I had gotten the same treatment in the process as my peers did 2 years earlier, I had a good enough finish in my first year of 125A to get a pro license via my District's recommendation. FACT.

Who knows what the Big 5 have up their sleeves. Stark was able to keep this hidden.

That's way cool! I didn't see this in any of the info, but was there any mention of any system on the bike similar to a clutch? I know electric doesn't have a need for a clutch, but I really hope they have a system that mimics one. Aside from obvious control, a clutch has saved my butt from whiskey throttling and crashing big more times than I can count. For this reason alone I hope they have a similar system.
I admittedly skimmed it, so I might have missed it, but this would be my only real concern over owning electric dirtbikes.

I would be a bit skeptical had they released all this showing just Jo Schmo riders on it. It speaks confidence on their part having Josh Hill testing the bike out. That dude has spun laps on bikes us normal folk could only dream of so he would definitely know if something is a complete shitbox plus he has loads of experience on the Alta. I can't argue the specs because quite frankly I'm not an electrical engineer or whatever you'd have to be qualified in to develop something like this. Is it possible that the motor runs more efficient and the pack stays cooler than the Alta, thus more range?

They nailed the marketing end for sure. Compare this to the Honda prototype a few years back of that guy limping that thing around the track vs Matt backflipping the Varg haha.

Soon you won't be able to charge them with a gas-powered generator in Kalifornia

https://www.marketwatch.com/story/california-to-ban-gas-powered-leaf-bl…

Also on Thursday, the California Air Resources Board agreed to ban the sale of new products run by small gas-powered engines, including leaf blowers, lawn mowers and portable generators — a rule recently mandated by the state’s Democratic-dominated state Legislature.

Clicks on the chain adjuster. No massive axel nut. What have our OEMs been doing with their free time?
