That doesn't make sense.
Also, it was mentioned that in Alessi's post, it was evident that he shifted from right to center, expecting that spot to be clear.
If the slower rider doesn't slow down abruptly, and keeps his line, it's the faster rider's responsibility to go around him safely. There isn't any other way. A slower rider would love to ride faster, but obviously can't.
In the Vet classes, I haven't had a problem riding with faster riders, but to put me (50+ novice) in with pros is probably not the best idea, if the pros are going full steam.

Anyone else have this problem?
Ales I said he was lapping 60secs a lap quicker than some people in the race, wtf there is no way that should be allowed. Would think with how sue happy Californians are one of these promotors would have been done by now
That being said your own personal safety needs to be your primary concern and not leave it up to others. Mike Alessi is still one of the fastest 50-100 riders in the world, if you look down the line and you know you're not in that zip code get the hell out of the line.
It had to have been a +50 125 Pro rider, I got done with my moto, went back to the truck, dropped off my bike and walked back down to the start before it happened. The skill level range in +50 pro was very very large.
I hope that dude is ok.
Pit Row
What a shit show.
The gap between fast A riders and people that shouldn't be in a competition is bigger now than ever before and it is creating situations like these, rolling a blind jump during a competition is a bad idea. It should be common knowledge but it's not.
I don't know, maybe I'm old. This accident aside it seems riders aren't learning the craft anymore, not just the basic riding skills but the trackside behavior and safety also.
IMO
That will be a sad day for American MX and a huge hit to the Industry in SoCal but it doesn't seem avoidable at this point, they just don't seem to grasp at all how to group people together on the track in a safe manner.
