I was flipping channels a couple nights ago and came across Wes Cain blabbing on the A&E channel. At first I didn't recognize his face but when I heard the voice it clicked. That's the announcer dude.

Anyway, turns out he was there commenting on Vanilla Ice. It was one of those "behing the music" type shows where they did his rise and fall and then his recent rise in reality TV.

I appears Vanilla is still into the MX scene and rides on a regular basis. I'd have never guessed he's 40 years old now though.

The song was lame but he sure got paid! The guy has always been into MX so he's ok with me.

He used to ride a lot at our local track (Air Dania) until it closed, very friendly cool dude and pretty fast also. I crash very hard over a large double once and he was the first person to help me up and push my bike back to the pits, I thought that was very cool because I did not know him at the time.

I was a DJ for many years and hardly a night went by that someone didn't request that song. It always packed the dance floor! I know everyone hates it and no one listens to it......but the truth is it's a guilty pleasure for many!

Wes and him are friends and hang out whenever they can.
I've met him at a bunch of races including Lorettas, Atalanta SX, Orlando and he raced pitbikes at the OWC also.
He came over and ate FiberWise Pasta at our rig and loved it and asked for more.
He's waay cool.

I saw that too. I got to roost on nilla' many a Thursday night at Pepsi Air Dania. lol He is pretty fast. you would be surprised. He would show up with some gansta wannabes though and I got a lot of pleasure lapping those fools who should not have been in our class. i tried to make small talk with one of those thug wannabes before we were let out and he was a prick. I felt like Jlaw at an amateur track as I lapped, roosted and panic rev to the moon coming into corners behind them while lapping them over and over. Robbie was always cool and my daughter and her friends know the song well and it gets played at games. He lived on Star Island for a while but has moved to acreage from what that show said.

Wes Kain is a funny character. He was the announcer at a bunch of the Florida tracks over the years during races. He would crack us up when he would say over the mic, "OK everyone its what you all have been waiting for, are you ready for QUAD WARS?!! That's right folks Quaaaaaaad Waaaaaaars!!" or "Son... son hold onto that thing son, You can do it ...Son!" He is so funny with his Flatbill and black socks at 50 years old, you can't miss him in the pits.

I ran into him at Lake Whitney years ago... nice guy actually. He got a bad rap (pun intended) for his music career. Not like he had any control over it. The label made him into what they thought would sell.

Rob is a really good guy and not only is he fast, he's not a puss.

I have seen him crash HARD, taking out a chain link fence and still get up and finish.

I saw him case the finish triple at Dania (big/gnarly, ask anyone who's been there) and his wrist blew up like a grapefruit, he still rode the 2nd moto.

Rob now lives in NW Palm Beach county, out in Wellington, I believe

Before I got to know him, I thought the same as many of you..."Lyin' ass poser wannabe MX toad full of shit liar probably sucks, blah blah..."

Truth is, he loves moto as much or more than any of you. He's not a musician who rides, he's a rider who's also a musician. The music is his job, the riding is his love.

He is not a prima donna at the track and he'll help any one, talk to anyone and especially kids...he is really good with the kids

Oh, and Wes Kain learned everything about announcing from me

That was the first hip hop/ rap song I ever liked.... but he was sort of a tool. If i remember he spouted off saying he was a MX champion of some sort..... then it came out it was a local novice "championship" Woohoo

That's why I thought he was a tool as well.

In speaking to him about it (and he DOES NOT like to discuss it, because it embarrasses him), it was not his idea, it was a statement from his management that he was not aware of and he admits that he was a puppet of the record industry and his management.
He was young and naive, he admits it.

But as he has also reminded me (and others) for as many millions of dollars he made, you'd do it too.

BTW, he had an accountant rip him off for MILLIONS of his money...(other wealthy famous clients too), and when the whole thing started coming to light, the guy killed himself

Did you know that he not only used to do Madonna (when she was hot and younger) there's a pic of him and her together in the metal bound photo book she did titled "Sex"

Don't know if I even saw that

EDIT - I never saw that before. That's kind of old, that track has been gone a few years now. That had to have been shot just before it closed. That was Mark Beamer giving him the case of Ei

My wife and Madonna have the same gynecologist. How many degrees of separation does that make between me and Vanilla Ice?

My X wife was friends with him and he used to invite us down to his place whenever they would chat but we never went. He always seemed like a super nice guy. He used to ride alot with her X husband Mat and he always said he was pretty quick too.

I saw him in concert in February. He was over an hour late, the show lasted only 45 minutes. As soon as he did Ice Ice Baby (4th song?), half the audience left and the show went to shit as he started covering a bunch of ICP songs. You could tell he was totally not into it at that point. I wouldn't be either if I used to sell out stadiums and was now playing on a little stage at the local upstate NY horsetrack. I have to give him credit though, he was able to laugh a little at the novelty of it all--remember Ninja Rap?

With that said, the wife and I had a great time and would see him again.

My wife went to a concert with him and MC Hammer down at UVU a month or so ago...she said his ICP covers sucked and that he tried to "grunge" Ice Ice baby and ruined it.

MC Hammer was cool she said...old school.

Rob is one of the coolest/nicest guys you will ever meet and he loves racing/riding MX. Several years back I ran into him at A1 over at the Hilton Suites by the stadium and BS'd with him for a little while. He was there racing the cross over challenge and he messed his wrist up pretty good in a crash. He went to the hospital and got some morphine and came back and still raced.I think he got second day ,behind MC's buddy Victor S.

Also , he was way faster then Sunny G. & Cab that day.
