I was flipping channels a couple nights ago and came across Wes Cain blabbing on the A&E channel. At first I didn't recognize his face but when I heard the voice it clicked. That's the announcer dude.
Anyway, turns out he was there commenting on Vanilla Ice. It was one of those "behing the music" type shows where they did his rise and fall and then his recent rise in reality TV.
I appears Vanilla is still into the MX scene and rides on a regular basis. I'd have never guessed he's 40 years old now though.

(Most people do, but, won't admit it... yeah, i said it... bitches)

I've met him at a bunch of races including Lorettas, Atalanta SX, Orlando and he raced pitbikes at the OWC also.
He came over and ate FiberWise Pasta at our rig and loved it and asked for more.
He's waay cool.
dd
I have seen him crash HARD, taking out a chain link fence and still get up and finish.
I saw him case the finish triple at Dania (big/gnarly, ask anyone who's been there) and his wrist blew up like a grapefruit, he still rode the 2nd moto.
Rob now lives in NW Palm Beach county, out in Wellington, I believe
Before I got to know him, I thought the same as many of you..."Lyin' ass poser wannabe MX toad full of shit liar probably sucks, blah blah..."
Truth is, he loves moto as much or more than any of you. He's not a musician who rides, he's a rider who's also a musician. The music is his job, the riding is his love.
He is not a prima donna at the track and he'll help any one, talk to anyone and especially kids...he is really good with the kids
Oh, and Wes Kain learned everything about announcing from me
In speaking to him about it (and he DOES NOT like to discuss it, because it embarrasses him), it was not his idea, it was a statement from his management that he was not aware of and he admits that he was a puppet of the record industry and his management.
He was young and naive, he admits it.
But as he has also reminded me (and others) for as many millions of dollars he made, you'd do it too.
BTW, he had an accountant rip him off for MILLIONS of his money...(other wealthy famous clients too), and when the whole thing started coming to light, the guy killed himself
Did you know that he not only used to do Madonna (when she was hot and younger) there's a pic of him and her together in the metal bound photo book she did titled "Sex"
Pit Row
EDIT - I never saw that before. That's kind of old, that track has been gone a few years now. That had to have been shot just before it closed. That was Mark Beamer giving him the case of Ei
My wife and Madonna have the same gynecologist. How many degrees of separation does that make between me and Vanilla Ice?
With that said, the wife and I had a great time and would see him again.
MC Hammer was cool she said...old school.
Also , he was way faster then Sunny G. & Cab that day.
