I just saw his IG post, interesting he’s not riding the Honda as the brand ambassador…

Holy shit I'm getting old. I watched some IG clips of that today and didn't even click in that it was odd for him to be on a KTM.

Interesting he is on a stock bike and not a Factory Edition.

It’s not stock.

KTM stepped up and is sponsoring Ryan’s Foundation to support ST Jude.

Ryan is having a KTM ride day at Pala on September 17 to raise money and awareness.

The entire Dungey saga of KTM to Honda to partial Geicco Honda owner to no longer partial owner and now back on KTM has been extremly strange. But it makes good reading so whatever

KTM probably didn't want to offer Dungey what he wanted, whatever that was, for what he was willing to do for KTM post racer. The Honda move was both exploratory (for the Geico deal - perhaps he knew it was going to be short lived!) and separating from enough from KTM to have them feel the loss of his brand value.

He was seeking 2m for one year in his recent comeback attempt. Nobody would pay it for what would essentially amount to a 10th place novelty.

10th place novelty? Yeahhhh no. He would have been contending. Easy.

He retired in 2017. I think you're drastically undermining the continuous effort required to maintain such a high level.

That’s the funniest thing I’ve heard all day. He would be lucky to be in the top 5-8 you don’t take a couple years off then just show back up all Willy nilly and run the same pace

K-dub is washed up and rusty, plus he's riding one of those new fangled heavy 4 strokes? No way he's competitive. 8th place tops.

Guys tap the brakes. There is no press release, no salary apparently changed hands. A retired champ got a bike.

And yeh, a title contender.

I mean....you must see the flaw in that thinking? If the teams actually thought he'd be in the mix, they'd pay him whatever he wanted, and they know a helluva lot more than any of us here.

Not even close to comparable. K dub only missed one season... dungey has missed 4 if he were to come back

More than good ole mad max up there and the rest of anyone that thinks Dungey could be a title contender in 2022 apparently.

Yes he was absolutely a 110% badass on a dirtbike but he’s been gone too long to be a title contender again by any means.

I could see him get a podium or two but to say he would be in the mix and even beating Webb Roczen Sexton Tomac and DF Regularly is ludacris

I'm sure he still has the talent. His brain and reflexes are probably pretty close to what they were.

But the fitness grind to get to the top of this sport is pure suffering, and he doesn't need the money or the titles so where is the motivation to go through that pain.

Remember how mental this sport is...

He also doesn’t have anything left to prove. He was an amazing racer, one of the best to ever do it.

The rose colored lens associated with how these past champions would do if they all the sudden decided to make a comeback just drives me nuts. //Rant

However I do believe he will be an extremely valuable asset to KTM when it comes to testing and even possibly training. The Honda deal always seemed odd to me, Dungey belongs with KTM and it’s great that they’re back on the same page
