Based on what I know about the 2023 models, I'm sticking with the current 2021 450, and I'll probably pick up a 2022 to get me through next racing year.
Somebody want a clean 2018 350?
Plus I’m so comfortable on the current gen 450 , the 2023 will have to be one hell of an improvement for me to start over with new stuff.
Who knows, we will see for sure in December I guess…
Found this on KTMtalk
Here’s what hard_enduro_life is saying about the 2023 models:
- SX getting TBI/premix
- XC getting TBI/oil injection
- Both models getting an electronic power valve
- XC-W TBI coming in 2024

"As soon as the 2022 models from Austria have been presented, we have already received a picture that might even show the 250 of the 2023 model series.
Judging by the picture, the engine block still seems to be quite similar to the one known so far, but the DOHC cylinder head is completely new. But that does not seem to be all by a long way, because the frame also has a different guidance of the side pulls. It is therefore clear that a steel frame is still used in Mattighofen.
The swing arm and the deflection, which are combined with a completely new WP shock absorber, have also been visibly changed. The latter seems to be positioned lower than before in the frame and has a pressure level adjustment that can be adjusted by hand - i.e. without tools. We do not have any further information at the moment.
Is this what the cylinder head of the 350 Husqvarna 2023 looks like?
Similar to the 250, the 350 will probably get a completely new cylinder head, of which we were also leaked a picture.
Of course, these are all speculations at the moment and no one from Mattighofen will confirm our assumption if they want to keep their job. If we actually see a picture here that shows the 2023 technology, it can be assumed that the external appearance of the series will also change in the direction of the plastic parts."
What is the difference between tpi and tbi?
Probably a dumb question to most of you, but I honestly have no idea.
TBI is just like the fuel injection on 4 strokes. Fuel injected in the throttle body before the reeds. This creates a crankcase full of fuel and oil just like on a carb bike. Also allows for premix just like with a carb.
Supposedly KTM went with TPI for emissions reasons. I guess they can time the fuel well enough that less ends up in the exhaust.
There are conversion kits to go from TPI to TBI. Guys who have tried it usually say TBI has stronger throttle response.
