The disappointment and hate towards Yamaha on this website when the PR comes out and the 2 strokes are unchanged will be EPIC
Lot more yamaha lovers out there than most think.

love my old 03 CR125 but if the YZ125 got seriously updated I'd have to take a look at it.

I won’t be disappointed at all. I’m planning on buying a 2022 YZ 250 whether it’s all new or the same bike with BNG. the package they have is already really good, even if it hasn’t changed since 99.

It’s gonna be a long couple of days to wait. Hope Yamaha has something good up their sleeves.

Would be cool to see a new yz125. But I bet you 100 bucks MXA will have it all kinds of picked apart in some long winded article about how “it’s new but not” or some BS

I'd imagine it would be similar to the article on the 2019 YZ85, where they basically say it is greatly improved, but the dated platform needed that update just to keep from getting too distant in the rear view mirror of the KTM. And, frankly, that is probably right.

Well my friend who works for yamaha r&d would never in a million years give out any information, he would lose his job and I would never ask him for any information , I value him as a mate.....Anyway you can be sure he loves 2 strokes....I did say to him that Im looking at getting a new 125, but it wouldnt be a Yamaha if they dont bring out a new 125.
I just said Im tired of riding the same old bike and sent him pictures of my ktm super mini...I said Im slowly going pumpkin! He didn't comment...just laughed...mainly about a 55 year old riding a super mini🤣
Its not like Yamaha doesnt know that a lot of loyal blu cru are just getting tired of the same old 2 strokes...
They do pay attention you know ,but the bean counters at the top are always firmly in charge.

Sucks he doesn't trust you enough to even give you a hint. Tell him I love the 2020/2021 450 and hope they dont mess it up.

You are absolutely right. The people in finance will decide, and they don't decide based on what we want but rather on what will drive shareholder value.

I've been following Honda on the automotive side for 25years, and the enthusiasts have been screaming for 'performance Hondas' for 25years and Honda has given us boring slow grocery getters... car people not happy but Honda shareholders are, Honda is in great shape financially.

I think right now there is a lot of discussions on the topic of just surviving on the old petrol engines for awhile and invest in electric... why invest big R&D dollars in gasoline dirt bikes when they are soon exstinct... not for us, because we love them but the shareholders might make more money if the company can show they will go on the Tesla bandwagon.

4 pages and no spy photos. Yamaha is doing a good job at keeping a secret.

Personally, I've always struggled to understand the need for all the secrecy right up to the release date.
So lets say Yamaha does have an all new 450 and all new two strokes....so they diligently hide the facts from the buying public right up to the release date, months even after the competitors new bikes have already hit dealer showrooms.
Aren't they potentially losing sales?
I mean ol mate's in the market for a new bike...all the 22's are there to sit on and ogle...except for Yamaha and ol mate has no idea if they are gonna be bng's or what....does he continue to wait or does he blow his load now?
If he was a bit of a Yamaha guy..or more importantly a swing voter if you wil....wouldn't it be better if he knew what the yamahas were gonna be at least before the competitors bikes landed? Then he might have real motivation to wait..

For every other brand 22 model bike sold b4 Yamaha even announce their 22's..isnt that potentially a lost sale for yamah?
The whole early release thing where we see next years bikes go on sale even before the halfway point of the current model year , didn't that start for precisely that reason?
Exactly what Beta has done with their teaser, but not the details.
Do you realize that you single handedly turn people away from actually wanting to buy a beta?

Apparently Fantic is coming with a new 125 in October, judging by today’s french dealer’s advertising. They say the 125 is not pictured and the 250 2t will be available in July

I know the chances of this of this are .01% but imagin if they fuel injected the 125 and 250. They would be the coolest bike on the block.

Holy shit, new 125 is borderline confirmed at this point. It's actually happening.

But isn't Fantic working on producing their own engines? Maybe that is what the reference is.

"As a result of this acquisition Fantic will benefit from Motori Minarelli a skilled workforce, an updated industrial asset to support its growth, the increase of Industrial and R&D capacity, and the access to selected Yamaha engines and components with the latest technologies."

The languages about the Fantic Minarelli Yamaha relationship always seems tongue twisted to me, but it always seems to involve Fantic using Yamaha engines, not developing its own.

Pretty good indication of new models coming....Yamaha removed the "NEW" banner from the 2021 models on the website.
Doesn't necessarily mean ALL NEW models, but it does mean that the 2022s are imminent.

I really feel like an old fuck.... I can remember the days of walking into the dealership, going over to the brochure rack and seeing the new models under the heading "coming soon!!!!". Hell, I really thought I was something seeing next years models on full display/on the track at Ponca, then going home to tell my local dealer what they looked like. Mom couldn't get her film developed at Wal Mart fast enough for me to drool over the new bikes for next year. Now it seems we have to study a God Damn website to see the word "NEW" removed over a bike to hope and pray they change something on it besides a stripe or two.... Folks, this new way of doing things sure as shit ain't progress.

So, were "Spy Photos" the real deal in the past, or were mags paid to head out to Japan and sneak some shots?

The fact that we are days (or 1 day?) away from a potential announcement and... not a peep from anyone.

I could've swore in 1 of my MXA issues they mentioned that a new YZ125 supposedly existed. But no spy photos that I ever saw. Same if they release a new 450. Not any leaks about it, which is impressive if they do release a new gen 125 (or 450)

If it is indeed true that Yamaha has some new stuff up their sleeves, a not a single spy pic, nor vid has been leaked.... I am impressed. To my knowledge, the last time an all new bike slipped up on us was the CRF 150R way back when. That little sucker just popped up out of nowhere it seemed..... I'm probably wrong (shocker), but that's the last one I recall.
