One of the biggest disappointments has been the amount of trash people throw out of their cars onto the roadsides... Outright embarrassing 😠
The Public schools are hit or miss like most things, but you gotta do your research. I live in the upstate, so I guess I don’t see the bad public schools as much as some of the poorer counties in the lower part of the state. For the most part though all of the Anderson county schools are good. And most of them offer a career and technology center as well.
The food thing is spot on. Harder to eat healthy around here for sure. People really just don’t give a rip. there are quite a few “flea markets” around me but we call them jockey lots and there are always people there selling fresh and what I assume is seasonal produce, but I could be wrong. And with deer hunting you could live on off of deer meat which is some of the leanest stuff and out there and way better for you. There is a local butcher down the road as well that sells local grass fed beef. So it’s hard to eat healthy but there are some good options. Including growing your own vegetables.

we've lived in asheville for 10 years, moving here from orange county CA
cost of living has gotten nuts here, no way we would have transferred here at current time.
there is zero moto in western NC. all tracks are about 1.5+ hrs from us. lotta driving. environmentalist are very aggressive in WNC, that's where most of the tracks went.
upstate SC is much like described, lots of decent tracks, not much in regards to racing. i grew up racing TX moto scene, which then and still now has much much more developed moto series.
we've gotten much more into offroad since relocating here, most of the GNCC races are within a 5-7hr radius of us. woods racing is much more consistent than moto here.
Going there first week in April to look for a house
The califorian's have invaded idaho over the last 2 years. The way of life here is not what it used to be. They have driven up the housing prices to crazy high's and just behave badly in general. Most of the family is still in GA so it would be good to be closer, as my mom is getting on in age. Being able to ride year round is very appealing, beats shoveling snow for 8 months... Guess I better sell the snowbike. Now just need to find a place outside of greenville . A few of my GNCC buddies have places in Travelers rest, we will see...
I build houses for a living and you wouldn’t believe the kind of shit I see from the “neighbors”
There was never trash on the side of the road when I was a kid, never.
Nobody ever gave a fuck if my truck was parked in front of my property.
You can’t start a homeowners association when the neighborhood only has 2 building lots left.
Live and let live.
Pit Row
Seriously, is this where we are now?
I put up with them for a year and then moved to a smaller area. Which is now infested with the same attitude.
I was brought up to respect other's and their property. Someone asked me which state I was thinking of heading to, I replied I was considering another planet! Besides , after being here for 25 years, I'm done with the 300+ inches of snow every winter... Braaap.
going to Florida. And yes OR and WA have been looking great😂
Idiots are everywhere now. We can’t run from our problems and hand it all away. Just think of how cool Portland use to be...
Amazing people.
Unbelievable terrain.

I concur on the trash thrown everywhere. Sadly, southern culture is just a tad different than other regions.
"Granddaddy pawpaw threw his trash out the window. Daddy throws his trash out the window, and by god, I throw my trash out the window. It is my god given right!!!"- every one of my country neighbors in NC
