...in an old rv. Lived the dream for a year. Blogged about the experience. Anyone remember him?

unfortunately yes... lost all the writing due to a wordpress problem a while back, and while i still own the website (i think)... it's not something i keep up on

certainly a live-changing experience though and i've pretty much worked in the industry ever since, made lifelong friends from that trip, and been to some unbelievable places due to work.... crazy what's happened in 13 years since i did it

i do have the photos (somewhere), and the video we made with jason anderson and dean wilson is still on youtube, but the words are all gone Sad :

David Bulmer. We hosted him a night between I think Budds and somewhere else. I forget. I read about his saga on here, told my wife about it, and said we should offer him a waystop if it works for him. It did. I think he was off to Rupert's after he left here. Poor chap didn't know what was coming.

Had a swim, a home-grilled American cheeseburger, a sleep, and boom, he was off.

Hi David!

Always been curious about your avatar and name and the backstory of that, odd that I never took notice of the website in your signature... Anyway, I am sure the patient ones can piece together a lot of what was written if they digg through the web archives: https://web.archive.org/web/2019*/ayearinmx.com

I was "fortunate" enough to do a few cross country legs with Bulmer - namely when we took the time to shoot the video embedded here.

One piece of advice for your life goal... Up your budget so your rig includes an AC unit. AZ and CA in the dead of summer wasn't the most enjoyable part of that trip. I remember Bulm driving and I was down to my boxers just melting in the passenger seat.

But damn that video brings a lot of emotion for me. It was the beginning of some great career momentum for the both of us.

You don't happen to still have the database, do you? If so, I might be able to parse through it and grab the post content.

We plan to follow the entire SX and outdoor season for a year after I retire. Wife is all in on it too.

Went digging in some boxes and found this! Also spent some time on the wayback time machine... Crazy how I've made a career out of writing now!?

Thanks for asking about me with this thread! Also thanks to those people I met... I remember Hman144 just gave me his address and told me to stop by... I was amazed he left his house wide open. This was all before social media so it wasn't so easy to organise but damn it was a lot of fun and like I said, changed my life. Good Times.

I remember following along as you did this and being super jealous that I never had the balls to do something like that.

Good for you man.

Was it during VitalMX or MotoTalk days?

Yeah me too. And sand tracks in a few states. So much more expensive traveling now. I,m plugging away trucking, saving for 2022 race travel budget. There used to be people in campers traveling. For money they would polish wheels, 20 a wheel. Smart ones get a receipt book. The o/o like that, I helped them out a few times.

Yeah I would just sleep in the van - I like the wheel idea lol.

In a few years I hope to switch to seasonal work - work all winter and take the summer off. Life's to short to grind it out in the office.
