You really are just a salty cunt.

Are you going to acknowledge any other points about him in this thread or just bash him for his vocabulary or lack of international travel to cover the races in person.

He was with Vurb filming and editing for a bloody long time. Don’t like it, don’t listen.

But asking questions like how does he have a platform? It’s the internet. Fuck me.

Every time I’m on a pro rider’s Instagram and I see a “fan” wishing them injuries or being a piece of shit to the pro it makes me think “what kind of person would do this shit?”; then I come on vital and see posts like this and I say “ohhh. Ok.”

I like him. Feel like him and his bros are probably targeting an audience younger than myself but I still like his videos. One thing he does that drives me nuts though is when he's interviewing someone he cuts them off/ finishes their sentences

most riders have very little exposure beyond their own social media platforms so they will go on just about any show they can. Not rocket science. Swap and Gypsy are two of the least likeable guys I have ever met but they have an impressive lineup of guests on their shows and are giving moto enthusiasts the content they want, or dont want. If you dont like it, dont consume it.

Swap is nails on a chalk board in all aspects and he’s his own biggest fan.

I read some of it, so if I missed something, sorry.

I'm not into podcasts, but this made me think "What makes an expert in the field?" Is there some recognizing agency?

Fact is, we're all experts in some way...we rode, we raced, we crashed, we jumped, we railed berms.

May have done it in different eras or years, but the core of the sport hasn't changed. I've never raced a four stroke, but I don't have to to understand it...the basics are the same.

If this guy is studying film all day, is he any different than a head coach that does the same all day? Even if it's a high school coach, he's (or she) is still the expert, right? They are coach.

So, who decides who's an expert in a field, if there is no accreditation?

The viewers and the listeners do.
If he's a tool, he'll be found out by the masses and you'll be vindicated.

Until then, for someone who's never listened to the show, sounds like someone stole your girlfriend

a ton of my mx friends recommended me PulpMX podcast as i do enjoy podcasts in general but I just couldn't get past Steve, he's such a fucking man child and there is way too many ads, it's a shame because he obviously has power to get the best riders on there.

Gypsy tales for me I enjoy the most, it kinda reminds me of JRE, plus he isn't strictly MX he's had Jack Miller, Pastrana Mick Doohan and his son which were all pretty good, I feel like his interviewing style get's more out of the people he's got on there, especially ricky and chad.

Besides the obvious of...why do you waste your time concerned about what others are doing? If they want to do a podcast, so be it. Now for the kicker...most NFL and college football announcers aren’t even at the event, they do it remotely, because this isn’t 1990
and technology allows it and I’d say they know their shit. What a reason to be mad lol smh.

I really like his format and I don't give a shit how many hard credential passes he's accumulated over the years.

The guests I've seen him have on the show have been great and he asks good questions and lets them speak without interruption which is a refreshing change from the guys who complain about him the most.

I don't watch a lot of podcasts normally and most aren't moto related, but I'll watch Gypsy Tales 2:1 over Pulp just because I enjoy the content more. Why pulp feels it's necessary to have 5-6 hour podcasts is beyond me. The content quality suffers with the longer lengths. Can't say I've ever watched a whole one because if it.

Then there's the ads. Don't get me started on the ads. If I've been staring at the logo throughout the show and you need to break from the interesting shit to tell me nothing except that you're sponsored by the company who's logo I've staring at. It's an unnecessary interruption from my end. I know it pays the bills, but so do the ads that Youtube is going to put over your shit already. Double dipping on ad revenues get you into infomercial territory and turned off a lot quicker in my house.

gypsy's format/concept is great overall, but he's not a great host. he loves to interject and one up his guests, its obnoxious.

OK, take a step into the karting realm with me. As a sport we share quite a lot with motocross, though we still bang around on 2-strokes.

Anyway, we by and large of no media platform to speak of. We would KILL to have podcasts and shows pop up like Gypsy Tales from genuine fans. They are a symptom of a sports success and help breed interest. Without them you really have no spectator sport to speak of. 99.99999999% of people who watch supercross and sports in general are armchair quarterbacks. It's the debate and discussion that FUELS interest. If we said "only pro level SX riders can have an opinion and run media entities" well good luck that coz you've just killed your sport.

Honestly, the amount of moaning on here about this and that, you have NO idea how good you've got it. You really don't. Like I said, come to karting for a year and then you'll appreciate what you have.

On a practical note, of course the guy can't go to races he lives in Australia.... and there's this thing going around called Covid that has completely destroyed international travel. You NEED people with passion talking about your sport that new people can engage with. Joe Rogan is a comedian who has never stepped in an Octagon in his life to compete in the UFC, but has been a large part of driving the sport's success.
Thank you

Who are the individuals/companies giving this clown a platform. He brings zero to the table and is a misrepresentation of the sport. He sits in his little closet and doesn’t leave. Doesn’t attend races, isn’t at the test tracks and doesn’t even talk to the athletes. He’s no different than an arm chair quarterback. Maybe worse, at least the arm chair quarterbacks competed at some point back in the day.
It’s just weird to me. Why do people value his opinion?

I’ve never listened to Gypsy Tales other than a couple of clips on YouTube here and there so I have no bias here, but the idea that you can’t have a discussion or an opinion on the races unless you’re at every race or an ex-pro is absolute nonsense. We’ve all been watching racing long enough to know what’s what and have a somewhat educated opinion on it. Obviously someone who goes to every race and knows every one in the pits is going to have more insight, but that doesn’t mean no one else is allowed to talk about the race. From what I can see there’s riders on the Gypsy Tales show quite often, so he does have some relationships within the sport. At the end of the day if it was shit no-one would listen, but they do. If you don’t like it don’t listen but I have no idea why anyone would have a problem with more people talking about the sport

Youtube will bury your channel if you don't have good titles and thumbnails.

I don't understand the hate?
Bunch of blokes hang out, having a beer and pizza. talking to pro's and watch racing together.

If he annoys you and you don't like it, don't click it and don't watch it?

As for having to be at the racers? he isnt doing a in depth behind the scenes racing, he is open about it. his podcast isn't all about moto? its just him talking about things he likes with people who have done some amazing things in many sports. The dude has spent a lot of years at the racers and has had more to do with the industry then you realize. he rides bikes, done whole lot of film work for the major brands and teams within the sport prior to his podcast.
To have the people he has had come on the show, obviously he cant be that bad of a bloke if people like RC and TP199 get on and spend an hour talking to him, its not like they are paid to be on the podcast.

And finally as per your whole how are they using his clips,im assuming moto spy..
ask them.. obviously they think his content is better then the rest. thats not up to the public, thats the creators haha

Cant believe this Forum has gotten this far.

Personally, I love pulp mx. Top notch show. But i can't imagine coming on vital and bitching about gypsy tales because of what steve says about them on his show. And you can totally tell straight away thats the whole point of this post. It reads like a semi retarded version of what steve was saying about gypsy tales a week or two ago. Pretty lame actually. you don't have to fight your heroes fights fella.

I'm not a fan of the "sick bro" thing, but you can't deny that his show, guests, and topics are top quality. It's quite clear to me that he puts a lot of effort into his program, and I respect that. I tend to listen mostly to WTS and Pulp, but I'll watch his YouTube videos if I see them pop up. Not sure why anyone would shit on the guy though.

This is a weird thread so I'm just gonna add an opinion that no one should even care about
The short clips on YouTube are a winner for me (and I notice Matthes is doing that now).. Anytime I try and listen to a 3-5 hour podcast it just turns into white noise and I miss everything
