Barcia through three rounds -
2020: 1-2-9 (63 pts 2nd overall)
2021: 1-9-4 (59 pts, 3rd overall)

He is still behind where he was at this point last season, so we'll see.
If his shifter didn't break he would probably be 1-3-4. I know that's part of racing, but his riding seems to be better this year so I think he'll finish higher.

I believe this says more about Eli than it does about Justin. It's still early but Eli hasn't really been on fire since Salt Lake City last year. Let's see where they both are come round 10.

And he was riding with a heavy case of the flu last year at A2 and probably could have finished better otherwise -- also part of racing that he rode through.

Your memory is a lot better than mine! I already forgot what place he finished last Tuesday until I saw your list. Lol

I know it's early, but Eli is starting to give me those "will he or won't he?" Baggett vibes.

Just by the so-called "eye test" Barcia is looking much more comfy on the GasGas. I was re-watching the mains and his ability to put the bike where he wants is something I feel like he never had with the Yamaha. Look at his corners, he's able to pivot and cut down more easily than before. One the Yamaha he seemed to have to ride a wider line and just hammer the throttle which was really unsettling the bike.

I was really hoping Barcia would challenge the leaders. As Webb was catching Roczen he’d have to worry about Bam-Bam. Was looking great bummed he crashed.

Better than 2020? Bike has made a difference?

He got 1st, 2nd then 9th in first 3 rounds in 2020, in 2021 he has had a 1st, 6th and a 4th....so yeah I guess slight improvement? A bit hard to judge though just yet imho

Super impressed with Barcia in 2021. Looking forward to a better start. Him and that GasGas has what it takes to mix it up with the front runners...and it’s about time!

Yea, you don't remember this guy getting the hard charger award multiple times last year. He made a lot of passes.

With the amount of times he has hit people wonder if pay back would come if he is in the hunt at the the end.

Cutting off web in the heat race wasn’t real smart

In Barcia's entire 450 career, how many times has be finished (scored points) every race of the season?

TWICE.

#1 - His rookie year
#2 - 2020

So a guy who has only put in two complete seasons in his career is suddenly going to be consistent enough to win half the time, finish on the podium in almost every other race, and never have finishes outside the top 10?

He is fast this year and looks great, but I doubt a rider as stubborn as JB can just suddenly change his mindset and pull it off. What happens when he has a weekend where the bike is off. And he is off. And he gets a bad start and is buried in 13th. I know what I think will happen. I have said it before. He will get emotional, start blowing people off the track, and one of those times he will end up in the dirt, with a DNF and possibly banged up. He rides too risky. It WILL catch up with him.

Everybody wants to flame kage, but he's not wrong until proven so. As of right now, Justin isn't doing as good as he was to this point last year. I'm pulling for him to do well, but there is no proof he's any better to this point. Just a lot of specultion about how he looks and the fact that he passed Eli who clearly hasn't found his groove. Too early to tell.

If you want people to crucify you, have to add KTM in the sentence somewhere.

I hope Barcia will be a contender all year as I think it would be a cool story and I like seeing athletes reach their true potential. That being said it’s odd to me how many people here want to act like he doesn’t have a history of extremely foolish decisions.

I think the results would be better if not for the broken shifter.

He looks better to me.

Webb has scored points in all races in 50% of his seasons. Webb failed to score points in all races in hist first two (of four) seasons, but did so in 2019 and 2020 and was a top contender

Barcia has scored points in all races in 25% of his seasons. Barcia scored points in every race in his rookie season, then went 6 seasons in a row without doing so. He finally scored points in all races in 2020. Two times in EIGHT seasons.

Not even close to the same in consistency. Webb moved beyond the rookie stage, and has been consistent. Barcia has made consistently bad decisions, but finally showed he might be learning something in 2020. He is not a fast learner.

Cooper Webb P3. Fastest Lap = 48.27

Justin Barcia P13. Fastest Lap = 47.93

He did exactly what I have been saying he would do. When the chips are down, he gets emotional, starts taking risks. Eventually the risks burn you. He was in position on Lap 15 for a P7 finish...better even perhaps. But he ended up P13. Barcia is Barcia.

I never jumped on the Barcia Hype Train. It’s been this same story for too many seasons. I will say the new bike suits him very well but that may be all we’re getting from him. I just don’t see championship in his future. 🤷
