He got 1st, 2nd then 9th in first 3 rounds in 2020, in 2021 he has had a 1st, 6th and a 4th....so yeah I guess slight improvement? A bit hard to judge though just yet imho
Cutting off web in the heat race wasn’t real smart
TWICE.
#1 - His rookie year
#2 - 2020
So a guy who has only put in two complete seasons in his career is suddenly going to be consistent enough to win half the time, finish on the podium in almost every other race, and never have finishes outside the top 10?
He is fast this year and looks great, but I doubt a rider as stubborn as JB can just suddenly change his mindset and pull it off. What happens when he has a weekend where the bike is off. And he is off. And he gets a bad start and is buried in 13th. I know what I think will happen. I have said it before. He will get emotional, start blowing people off the track, and one of those times he will end up in the dirt, with a DNF and possibly banged up. He rides too risky. It WILL catch up with him.
Pit Row
He looks better to me.
Barcia has scored points in all races in 25% of his seasons. Barcia scored points in every race in his rookie season, then went 6 seasons in a row without doing so. He finally scored points in all races in 2020. Two times in EIGHT seasons.
Not even close to the same in consistency. Webb moved beyond the rookie stage, and has been consistent. Barcia has made consistently bad decisions, but finally showed he might be learning something in 2020. He is not a fast learner.
Cooper Webb P3. Fastest Lap = 48.27
Justin Barcia P13. Fastest Lap = 47.93
He did exactly what I have been saying he would do. When the chips are down, he gets emotional, starts taking risks. Eventually the risks burn you. He was in position on Lap 15 for a P7 finish...better even perhaps. But he ended up P13. Barcia is Barcia.

"He's not the sharpest knife in the drawer" - Ken Roczen
2020: 1-2-9-4 (81 pts 2nd overall)
2021: 1-9-4-13 (69 pts, 5th overall)
He is still behind where he was at this point last season, so we'll see.
