They did get a little of Vohland's sighting lap crash on the broadcast. He threw a big whip over the triple but way overjumped it to flat - outcome could have been much worse. Sexton's happened right in front of us. Washed the front end and fell over, then hit neutral when he tried to get going and did some funky swan dive over the bars. Rookie nerves......

We were talking about Vohland's crash and wondering what Decoster had to say to him when he got back to the truck. I also said at the start of the 450 sight lap that they were a more experienced, smarter, group and no one would make a dumb mistake and crash like the rookie 250 class. That lasted 1/2 a lap! LOL

DeCoster has seen this before: In 2000 Travis Pastrana crashed on his first parade lap when he tried to do a an Indian seat grab (or whatever it was called) over the finish line at the Indy SX opener (his first AMA pro race)... In Pastrana's case that might have been a big red flag for the carnage to come!

Oh man...that is not something you live down easily.

I can't believe he ended up 14th in the main.

DV12 Looped out standing on his seat at Anaheim one year. Bent the subframe and trashed the rear fender just before the night show.

Jeff Emig looped out in practice on the day he won his 250cc National MX Championship. Nerves can do that.

Yes San Diego 2005 (or 2006?) on Kawasaki.

I was there, he tried to do a nose wheelie across a small tabletop and went too far....

On a side note, I remember racing an AX in Worcester, Ma in the 80s that was being run by your Dad DC. So when they were sending everyone for the line for main event in the dark and me being from Worcester the announcer said and here's the hometown hero and I proceeded to over jump the catapult in the dark with just a spot light on me and I crashed super hard in front of a sold out crowd at the DCU center. Not one of my finer moments Davey and it Fn hurt too. :-)

Not a sight lap, but I was front row when Marv endo’d on the victory lap at Seattle in (2017) doing a heel clicker off the dragons back. It was funny. Good to know these guys are human.

It was '07. Only reason I remember that is because it was the first SX I'd been to in 12+ years (also the last one I've been to since). He was also leading the main, and waded up coming over the finish line jump with 2 or 3 laps to go after he hooked his foot peg on a tuff block cover. Ended up handing the win to Reed.

Main event moto posted the clip on their Instagram. My embedding skills are sub amateur at best so here’s a link. Wait, maybe it worked.

That is pretty stinking funny! Even if I was Sexton, you can't help but laugh at yourself sometimes.

Haha, poor Sexton.

All of these stories in here about various guys eating it during opening ceremonies or parade laps makes me miss K-Dub and his transfers. It would be great to get him back in the booth for a round or two.

K-Dub was the first I saw do it. I think it was New Orleans around '98 he did a huge nose wheelie during opening ceremonies and ended up stepping over the bars at the end when he cranked it over too far. I think we went on to win the 250 class that night.

Jimmy Button got hurt pretty badly while rolling the whoops....not sure if it was practice or what. This was one of the higher profile crashes with these circumstances....

HRC BigWig: “Chase, my favorite nephew is here today and he wants to ride your bike on the parade lap, is that ok?”

Sexton: “Um.. sure thing sir.”

HRC BigWig: “Get over here, Brandon.”

Thanks for the vid. That is hilarious...and I hope Chase laughed at himself. It appears it did rattle him though.
